181  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Anyone doing YAC Escrow? on: May 08, 2013, 01:54:34 PM
If anyone needs an escrow for any altcoin transaction (including Yacoin) I will offer escrow services for a small fee if I'm not too busy. If anyone reading this is interested then PM me.

I'm willing to do escrow service for a small fee/donation, you can decide how much you want to send

You can check out the google doc sheets for FTC, CNC trades that I've done

Would you guys be interested in participating in an alt-coin escrow service? - https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=199062.0

People voting no, I would be interested in hearing you opinion on why we don't need this.
183  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: If I built a website for Alt-Coin Escrow would you use it? on: May 08, 2013, 01:44:47 PM
So far 4 5 votes for making something like this, 2 for not, interesting  Roll Eyes

Maybe something like 5% for orders under 5 BTC equivalent total - 2.5% for orders over this volume - 1% for orders over 10 BTC equivalent.

Subject to change Smiley Ha ha !

Seriously though I could do it for these rates.

You can be my first Escrow provider if this ends up being something people want built Grin

I could be an escrow but my rates would be quite high - as my time is valuable  Wink
how high?  Tongue
185  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / [Poll]If I built a website for Alt-Coin Escrow would you use it? on: May 08, 2013, 01:20:32 PM
So, with all the new coins coming out and the hype each one gets with people looking to buy and sell coins minutes after the release, there is a lot of room for people to get scammed.

What I am proposing is building a site on which some trusted members of the site could register themselves as escrows for whichever coins they choose too. They would have a public profile showing the addresses they use for escrow so they can be checked at anytime to make sure they are not scamming.

The site would also show who is currently online so that you can trade faster by finding an escrow who is currently online and working. We could also have a section for reviews of the escrow commenting on how fast they are, etc.

As an escrow you could set all your own options, fixed fee, %fee, or a combination of the both, minimum or maximum # of coins to handle, etc. Basically, it would be up to the escrow to set their own rates. This would also help people find better options.

Would anyone be interested in a site like this? I wouldn't really try to make any money off of something like this, maybe put some ads, if that, I'm just tired of seeing people get scammed. If someone else builds it before me, or makes a better version, or something like this already exists, so be it, I just want something in place to help people.

As I write this, honestly we could probably just have a sticky thread for people offering escrow and their terms if people would rather do that.
186  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Anyone doing YAC Escrow? on: May 08, 2013, 12:12:30 PM
Don't trust Senior or Hero members just because of a title on a forum!!

They might be good for a few trades, but they could be a scammer in waiting! One trade too large and all your monies gone!

Beware!

If you do trade the more valuable currency trades last!! Do not send the more valuable currency first!!

True, therefore it would really be nice to have an escrow service, or you could always wait for the coin to hit an exchange. But then again the people buying right now are probably trying to hoard up so they can dump at a higher price when the coin hits its first exchange, so I guess if you want to make a big profit, you're going to have to take a big risk.
187  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Anyone doing YAC Escrow? on: May 08, 2013, 12:02:12 PM
I myself have fallen pray to a scammer on here with a different coin when I was still a newbie. This is just a warning to people new to trading on forums, that if they are a jr. member, you might not want to trade unless they send first or there is an escrow service.

As far as I know, there isn't an Escrow service for YAC yet, so be careful. Obviously, as a Jr. Member I'm not really offering to become an Escrow service since people probably don't trust me. But if a Sr. or Hero member would like to step up to do this, that would be great.
188  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][YAC] yacoin: yet another altcoin. START is now. on: May 08, 2013, 11:53:15 AM

Users\mm\Downloads\pooler-cpuminer-2.2.3-win32>minerd --algo=scrypt -
0.1:4321 --user=mirek --pass=x
13-05-08 13:29:00] 4 miner threads started, using 'scrypt' algorithm.
13-05-08 13:29:01] HTTP request failed: couldn't connect to host
13-05-08 13:29:01] json_rpc_call failed, retry after 30 seconds

Can somebody help me to cofigure this

what's your yacoin.conf like ?

addnode=82.211.30.212
rpcuser=mirek
rpcpassword=x
rpcallowip=127.0.0.1
rcpallowip=192.168.21.2
rpcport=8108
port=4321
daemon=1
server=1
gen=0

set port=7688

as for your minerd use the rcpport ...  you are trying rpcallowip = 127.0.0.1 which your minerd is trying to connect  so use that port Roll Eyes

Correct me if I'm wrong, I thought you couldn't mine this coin with minerd? I thought you had to use the client to mine.

191  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What values will make an alt coin a valuable alternative? on: May 08, 2013, 04:58:40 AM
How about a new hashing algorithm, that is neither sha-256 nor scrypt?

+1
192  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: DDOS attacks on pools WTF ? on: May 08, 2013, 04:57:49 AM
Like everyone said, it's a lot easier for the person doing the ddos then the person trying to stop it. Also, every time the major pools fall under this kind of attack, people freak out, get emotional, and in turn there is volatility, which is what day traders need to make money.
