What a strange project here. Dev is so inactive but there is still lots of supporters around here. Hope this coin will prevail again, very promising idea.
The Dev is not inactive. They just aren't posting things to hype people up. The technical stuff they have been doing and people have followed that.
They have also helped people here with coin swaps and other technical issues.
Another reason for a lot of the support is because this coin has a VERY low supply (5 million coins in circulation) and a very low price compared to other projects. So just based on that its bound to be found out by people who have millions to speculate. Nearly every low cost (under $0.10) coin is going to see a big increase in price by summer if the projections of new money into crypto are correct (as they have been for the last year). Organizational capital investing into crypto speculation at a big level does dollar cost averaging so you often see dozens of low-priced coins go up at the same time. I'm confident that BAS will be a part of that next round.
This was also a coin without an ICO. If the dev had gone the ICO route I have no doubt that the price would be higher BUT there would also be regulatory issues in some countries in the region (like Vietnam for instance) so it is good they did due diligence.
The goal of BitAsean is to actually be USED and the developer has been working to make it useful and transparent within the laws of the countries in the region.
As such BitAsean as someone who does valuations for cryptoassets (for a place that invests in cryptos) told me, is undervalued by at least 10-20x. He said a fair price for it to settle at would be around $2-5 and perhaps as high as $10 per BAS. So buying them now for pennies and just holding on to them seems to be a good long term strategy.
One thing to also take into consideration is there's been news that Thai villages in the past year have put their resources together and invested in crypto this past year and saw a huge return. As word of this has spread more and more people have learned about cryptocurrency. This is a network effect seldom reported on in the west but it is real. So cryptocurrencies based in the country, like OmiseGo are well trusted because they have changed people's lives already. This is why OMG trades higher on BX in Thailand than other exchanges.
BitAsean, also based in Thailand will likely do that as well when it starts its move up. But one must walk before they can run and there is much work left to do.
I will make a prediction. At the end of Q1 2018, BAS will be worth more per token than it is now. That doesn't mean I think it will go 10-20x in that time but we should see an increase from its current price as well as in volume of trading on HitBTC
Anything is possible. Like I said. Keep calm and hodl on.
