i notice that there are three currencies in the wallet.
Assuming I got GBP card , if the wallet is loaded with bitcoin that and sent it to the euro account part.(would be 1% fee)
Do you still incur a foreign transaction fee if then used in euros?

Or do you load it with pounds and then if you use it (shops, fuel stations etc) around the rest of Europe, does it convert/draw from the GBP or Euro account? (incuring a 3% fee???)
Same with international ATM fees.
Which part of the wallet does the funds come from?

Hi,

You can load the card off any wallet, if the currency of the wallet is different from the currency of the card, 1% fee is charged.
Once you've loaded the card (assuming you have a GBP one), the funds are already stored in GBP and if you pay or withdraw in euros the funds will be converted from GBP to EUR, making it a Foreign Transaction.

whilst in Spain, in a restaurant a waiter made an error taking payment from a credit card.
The payment was cancelled immediately and the new payment made, the initial payment returned. What happens in this case on a prepaid debit card?
Can a erroneous payment be refunded immediately or  doe it have to be done another way?

If the transaction is cancelled it will most likely stay pending and will be returned to the account within 14 business days.

I would like to apply for the promo code for GBP card.
I would be using the card to pay for goods and services in the UK, online payment and possibly use traveling around Europe.

Could you also clarify on the points in my previous posts?

The code is sent to your private messages  Smiley  Enjoy using the card!

Account set up, card selected and verification sent.

Notes on scanning in a PDF for verification purposes.
I scanned drivers license and found in to be only about 42KB. The pdf was at 300dpi.
I would recommend sending it as a JPEG as it fulfills the the minimum 500KB size, where as PDF didn't.

An iPhone 6 was sufficient for the selfie required.

I have downloaded the app from the AppStore and its impressive.
It appears that you can do the verification through the App.
I did it via computer as I hadn't at that point downloaded the App and didn't know.

One question though.
Is the exchange rate to convert bitcoin to GBP the same as the buying rate of bitcoins?

2  Economy / Economics / Re: How could futures impact bitcoin? on: December 20, 2017, 01:23:51 PM
I don't fully understand the Futures market.
How could futures impact bitcoin and its price?

Dude , you should understand this simple thing! People are investing in Bitcoin because of its increasing prices and it's increasing because people know that the world is turning digital. So online currencies can prevail over paper currencies. This is me main reason why Bitcoin is in the headlines and the countries are in a dilemma .

I think you might have misunderstood my question or I didn't make my question clear enough. My apologies.
I know why people invest in Bitcoin, it's benefits etc.

What I was asking is if the 'futures market' could impact directly on the bitcoin price?

I thought that futures was just a bet on an out come by a certain date, in which case it would have no impact. Its just a bet.

However if futures means that you are betting on an outcome and that you are also promising to buy at that the agreed price on an agreed date, then it could have an outcome because they would now hold bitcoin and collectively have leverage and/or influence on its price.
Miners or holders of large quantities of bitcoin could also play the futures market selling short, causing panic and when the price drops buy up again.
They could buy up bitcoins at a low price and if/when the price then recovers, rinse and repeat.

This is what was going through my mind and was wondering if my thinking is right.

I have question,
making payment with card on online shop,   a payment stuck, I refreshed page and did payment again, then I saw that card charged twice, but online shop show only one payment and one order.
How i can cancel additional one?

Thanks

This happened to me once, back when I still had the Wave Crest card. It took ages (a month) for the blocked funds to be available for spending again.

There are two options: 1) if the merchant (the online shop) is trustworthy, contact them (the merchant) and ask them to reverse or cancel the second transaction or 2) dispute the transaction by contacting Cryptopay who in turn will contact the card issuer to initiate a charge-back or a dispute of the second payment. The dispute will take time because Visa will give the merchant an opportunity to defend itself from your requested charge back. A lot of time. Weeks (in my case it took a month). I didn't dispute. Wave Crest told me if the merchant doesn't settle the second payment, Visa will automatically credit the funds back to my card. And they did.

If you want the money credited back to your card ASAP, you must proactively work on the matter by contacting the merchant. The merchant should reach out to their bank and have the second payment cancelled and Visa informed of that cancellation.
Thanks, for explain, amount very small (11EUR) and merchant one of biggest local shopping center(also online),
I hope they will return automatically, without my action.

You can email them via their support email (on their website).

Or you can post on their ANN thread:

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1972805.0

Or send them a PM.

The Mistertango account is linked to this exchange:

http://btc-exchange.com/

When you open a Mistertango account, you will be assigned a static bitcoin address. When you send bitcoins to the address, it will be converted to EUR based on the best possible sell rate shown on the exchange site above.

As for the fee, read through the ANN thread above. I found this post on that thread:

The fee is 0,5%, but no less than 0.005 BTC. Meaning, that you pay at least 0.005 if the transaction amount is less than 1 BTC.

Just a heads up warningsigns. They have just updated their fees.

8  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Loading bitcoins onto Debit Cards. on: December 18, 2017, 09:17:37 AM

Thanks for your response.
I have had a look at the website, but I can't seem to see the fee for loading with bitcoins. Could you advise please.

This card may be of use as I travel a fair bit around Europe.
I will be in Germany next year, so good to know that you have used it there in shops and at ATM's.

BTW Do you know if it works in Switzerland?

It works everywhere. The card is a true embossed and EMV-chipped MasterCard.

The fees are mentioned here:

https://mistertango.com/en/wp-content/uploads/Mistertango-pricelist.pdf

Every month you are allowed to withdraw up to 200 Euros and pay no fees for that transaction. For additional transactions, the usual fee applies. It's all on the link above.

The card is valid for 3 years.

More about this account:

https://mistertango.com/en/bank-account/

They have a nice app which sends you emails alerting you of transactions whenever you use the card.

I did download the PDF and look thru the website. But still couldn't find any fees for loading the card with bitcoin.
I just looked thru it again.
Maybe I'll contact them.

Yes in Europe, UK.
Have you used mistertango ?

Yes, I have been using Mistertango since August this year. I load the account with bitcoins and use the card at shops and ATMs. I also use the account to send SEPA transfers to my account in Berlin. I know my German bank has a tendency to close accounts linked to bitcoin activities so I don't use it to receive transfers from exchanges such as Kraken or Bitstamp. Instead, what I now do is load bitcoins into my Mistertango account. Then I do a SEPA transfer from that account to my German account. They see it's coming from an account in my name so no questions asked.

To open a Mistertango account you will need to be verified. You can do this online on their app. They won't open an account if you can't provide an acceptable form of identification (usually a passport or EU ID). If you are from the UK, there is no national identity card so I"m sure it would have to be a passport.

10  Economy / Economics / Re: Who is behind the inflating value of Bitcoin? on: December 18, 2017, 01:49:01 AM
The mass, the banks who want to control it,  but who hold the most bitcoins, it would be interesting to see if it's possible to control the mass now the bitcoin is owned by so much people
How come the banking system will manipulate the price of bitcoin, the recent rally is backed by investors and for the first time we never had any bad news coming out regarding bitcoin and so is the reason we are having a rally for a very long time and that is the reason the price is inflated to the levels we have never seen before.

Who has the most money ? Banks or investors ? Banks have inifinite capitals to buy crazy amounts of bitcoins to then easily manipulate prices

Although they would love to do that< I don't think they can, due to regulation.
The futures market might mess things up though.
11  Economy / Economics / Re: Who is behind the inflating value of Bitcoin? on: December 18, 2017, 01:38:47 AM
A very good solution for the world economy is to link free cash with bitcoin. Some national and commercial banks have a huge surplus of fiat money. They do not know what to do with them. Smiley
Unfortunately that is never going to be a possibility since its the very banks that are so critical of bitcoins, if they were wiser, they would have invested all those profits they had accumulated over the years into bitcoins instead of always criticizing it.
It will never happen, the bankers are saying the bitcoin always linked to the fraud system that created by satoshi nakamoto. they will never think to invest their money in the bitcoin.
Always critize the bitcoin because the possibilito to be a threat to the banker.

Very true about being a threat to bankers, but also they cant. Their regulation, that has fended off competition has also become their prison.

If you live in the EU, you can get a visa card if you sign up for a Cryptopay account. If you don't live in Europe, they won't give you the card.

You can also consider getting a Mistertango account. The account comes with a free MasterCard and an fully functional IBAN account. The website is https://mistertango.com/en/

Bad experience with WageCan. I wouldn't recommend buying their card. Expensive fees and pathetic card limits. Customer support is lacking and risk of account blockage even after completing KYC verification.

The Mistertango card works on ATMs and merchants. They ship the cards worldwide and it has decent limits.

15  Economy / Exchanges / Loading bitcoins onto Debit Cards. on: December 17, 2017, 11:32:51 PM
I have been looking for bitcoin debit cards.

I have come across a few in a search, but to be honest some of them look pretty dodgy.

Are there any that you have personally used that are legit and have a good service?

Equally please post if you know them to be a scam.

I would buy now as long as you are willing to hold on to it for some time.
I think there has to be a correction at some point. Who knows when that could be.

There would be a dual market, futures and Bitcoin market, might be interdependent or independent. Cash-settled Bitcoin futures would allow Bitcoin skeptics/institutional investors to bet against Bitcoin without even buying it or there is a possibility that these investors will want to suppress the price so they can buy Bitcoin at a discount, either way this would lead to a new price discovery mechanism.

Just read an article on, will the futures market do to Bitcoin what it did to gold?

Quote
1: The velocity of information is orders of magnitude faster — I doubt most market participants in 1975 even knew that gold futures were a thing.

2: The Demand to hold Bitcoin is one of the highest of any assets ever — Bitcoiners have learned to buy the dip and hodl.

3: Bitcoin has more competitors than gold.
