21  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: UEFA Europa League 2023/24 Season on: May 04, 2024, 11:58:02 PM
With the squad he currently has he can show an extraordinary game and next season he can bring in new ammunition to complement the squad he has now. Next season they will be in the Champions League, the competition will be more difficult there and he has to prove that he can compete.
Even if the current squad looks strong enough for the next season, I think Xabi must improve the quality of the squad. I think Leverkusen has no top striker, most of them are just average strikers. Only Victor Boniface who deserves to be the striker in Leverkusen. Sadly, this player got a long injury this season, Xabi must have an alternative striker who has the same quality. Patrik Schick and Borja Iglesias have too far quality, they don't deserve to keep on the squad. If Leverkusen wants to go far in UCL for the next season, Leverkusen is better to sign a top striker in the next transfer window.
Improvement is always a must to face a competition, regardless they have proven to be the the best. Xabi Alonso has to be aware of the best team being on everyone's eyes. Next season, Every team will see Leverkusen as a team to beat with the best efforts, this will make the next season campaign for next season harder than this season.

The fact that they will play in Champions League is a big consideration to strengthen to squad. They will be lucky if no player to have a move to other club, but they will still need to sign some new good players for next season campaign. Playing in champions League is not as easy as playing in Europa League, they will have to play against many strong teams. Any loss can affect their morale that could have impact on their performances in the league.

Klopp is the only coach that has managed to get ahead of Guardiola and that's just on a single occasion. Guardiola almost turned the best and toughest league in the world to another farmer's league like Bayern, PSG and maybe Madrid has done in their respective leagues. For someone that conquered the Spanish league, Bundesliga and the premier league, I'd say Guardiola is hands down, the greatest manager of all time.

That said, I won't be surprised If they end up winning it this season.
Guardiola has become a great manager with countless achievements. It's hard to dispute his capability that brings ideas to football and achieves trophies every season. He is the first manager to achieve two treble winners with two different teams. He also has capability to develop young talents despite having great players in his teams.

The only argument to doubt Guardiola is that he has always managed teams that have a great spending power. It sounds like he always chose to be in a safe place to chase achievements, but he achieved those anyway at a domination level. Klopp has a different managerial path, he has always managed teams that had to rebuild before achieving something. His first team was Mainz that he brought them promoting to Bundesliga for the first time in their history. His second team was Dortmund that was literally a bankrupt club when he took over the management. He has a big legacy in every (3) club he managed.

The more days that pass, the more likely Allegri will no longer be Juventus' coach next year.

There seem to be only two paths today for the next coach. the most likely one seems to be Tiago Motta after an incredible season with Bologna and the least likely one Antonio Conte.

Obviously, if it is Motta, there will be no official news before the direct game between Juventus and Bologna which will take place in two turns.
I think it's the time for Juventus to move on from Allegri, not because he is a bad manager, but Juventus need a fresh spirit and idea for their team next season. The Juventus board also need to change their policy of recruitment. They can't always rely on signing established players, especially free agent players like they always have done for a while. They need to develop young talents beside signing some players.

If Juventus really want to have a change in the club, they need to avoid hiring Antonio Conte, because he will only continue what has already been there before. Conte is also not known to develop young talents. Thiago Motta will be the best option after his successful spell a Bologna and he also was an experienced players that played for some great clubs and achieved many trophy.
24  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Italian League Prediction Thread (Serie A) on: May 04, 2024, 11:09:20 PM
Inter Milan knowing fully well that they've secured the Italian Serie A this season I don't think will be very serious with their remaining fixtures of the season but just like you said, the club manager Simone Inzaghi started the game at Sassuolo with a very strong XI but couldn't score a goal nor prevent their hosts from finding the back of the net. Sassuolo isn't a a very strong team to defeat for a top team like Inter Milan which is why I was very surprised to see that Inter Milan failed to get all three points.
I think the players of the club aren't investing much of their strength in the league games again since it's not going to change the fact that they're the the champions already and are doing all of that because of the major tournaments that'll be taking place in the summer. The UEFA Euro tournament as well as the Copa America will be played this summer so it's understandable that Inter Milan players aren't giving their best
It's understandable for a team that has won the league to perform without determination to win the remaining games. The players see the games as formality to complete the season as professionals. Those games are moments for them to enjoy football without any pressure, because they have complete their main task demanded from them.

The players play the games with intension in mind to just avoid injury, because that could ruin their chance to play in major tournament wiht their national team, and other players want to have a proper rest without the need for rehabilitation to recover injury. The summer break has been striking their mind, because they also need moments when they dont have to fulfill the monotonous routine.
25  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Germany League - Bundesliga Prediction Thread on: May 04, 2024, 10:52:38 PM
Sometimes I wonder about Bayern Munich, in the Bundesliga they are meaningless and often disappointing, but when they appear in the Champions League it all seems stronger, do they no longer care about the Bundesliga? A bit unlucky to pick Bayern Munich.

They had a horrible game against Stuttgart and got humiliated in front of their own fans by BvB not that long ago, which might create an impression that Bayern is somehow underperforming, but the reality is they are still doing better in terms of average points per game than they did last season, when they've won the league. And advancing to the ECL semi-finals (and possibly to the final) is also not something to be ignored.
I think this happened due to them having to compete aganist an unbeaten team, Leverkusen. There is nothing they can do to stop how Leverkusen run their league campaign, this means not Bayern having bad performances, but Leverkusen is too good to compete against. It's understandable for Bayern to feel frustrated to the fact that they have to accept this reality.

Advancing to Champions League semi-final is a proof of Bayern being still a strong team with ambition. Being lost to some teams may create impression that Bayern is underperforming, but I think this is more about them giving up early due to they find the reality of the impossibility to chase Leverkusen. Bayern may be disappointed to the fact that they failed to win the league, but I think they are too spoiled by their domination of the league for a long time.
26  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: La Liga (Spanish League) Prediction Thread 2023/24 on: May 04, 2024, 10:37:57 PM
Now that Girona have defeated Barcelona, I think it's very clear now that Real Madrid is the winner of this season's La Liga trophy. I don't think Real Madrid needs to stress so much by focusing on this La Liga competition again, with this points gap, I believe Real Madrid have won it already. They just need to fully focus on the Champions League now
Yes, Real Madrid won the La Liga title today. Real Madrid fans can celebrate it, Real Madrid is the champion for this season.
For the next matches, Real Madrid can use the second team, they must focus on UCL match. So the main players must take a rest for the UCL semi-final and even the final round. I expect Real Madrid to win UCL trophy.  Grin
It's inevitable that Real Madrid will win the league since the points gap been too wide for Barcelona to chase. The loss of Barcelona to Girona makes sure that the points gap is safe for Madrid to lift the trophy. Real Madrid have been so consistent throughout this season fighting for title against Girona instead of Barcelona. This proves Real Madrid succeeding to build a strong team without needing a transitional phase.

Rea Madrid's policy to recruit great talents replacing their star players has been successful. This is a big credit to Ancelotti who knows how to keep Real Madrid remain competitive while some great players were leaving the team. Real Madrid is really a club with winning culture that always chase the best for the club's prestige. There is no wonder why many players would reject Real Madrid when they got an offer from the club.

If PSG is without Mbappe, it will open up opportunities for other teams to compete with PSG in the race for the title. During Mbapee time with PSG, we have seen the fact that it is very difficult for other teams to decide PSG's position in the title race in each season. Well, I think if PSG can win the UCL trophy this season, there is a big possibility that Mbappe will stay with PSG, but if he fails, Mbappe will leave for another team next season.
It is impossible for them not to look for another striker with the same level of quality in the transfer market. I heard rumors that Osimhen will play for PSG next season in Mbappe's place. Osimhen is one of the best strikers at the moment. Without Mbappe, I think it will still be difficult for other teams to compete with PSG.

Mbappe wants to play for Real Madrid. It has been his favorite club for a long time. He wants to create many records with Madrid, just like his idol, Cristiano Ronaldo. Even if PSG win the UCL this season I don't think it will change the fact that Mbappe wants to play with Real Madrid next season.
The departure of Mbappe should be an important issue for PSG to look for his replacement. It may not be so difficult for PSG to sign a good player, but it will need to strengthen other area to make up for the lost of Mbappe's quality. Osimhen may be the best option for this issue, because he is also a physically strong and fast striker.

I think PSG won't have a big problem to stay as a strong team, because fortunately they have Enrique as their manager to prepare a good plan for next season without Mbappe. Their quality is still above other teams in the Ligue 1, but Enrique should remember that there is no guarantee for them to still dominate the league, because it has happened before when PSG failed to win the league despite having a better squad.
28  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread 2023/2024 on: May 04, 2024, 10:08:29 PM
We know the Premier League is kind of difficult to predict, but I also don’t think Manchester City will be losing any points this season. The only match left that I think will give Manchester City a difficult moment this season is against Tottenham, which I am sure Manchester City will be able to win them.
You can see that Tottenham have performed poorly in their last 3 matches. They also have a tough game against Liverpool before City. Based on statistics, City should have won the match. Fulham and West Ham are not difficult opponents for them. Tottenham could give them a bit of trouble. Arsenal has 2 matches remaining, namely against United and Everton. I think Arsenal will be able to win the remaining games. This means City must also win all their matches. Even a draw would be in Arsenal's favor as both would have the same points but currently they have a 6 goal difference.
Those Tottenham's performance are like they are returning to what Tottenham used to be. It seems their mentality to compete at the highest level of football is not settled well. Ange Postecoglou still has much work to do to upgrade their maintenance of performance when competition is closing to an end. He needs to strengthen his squad with a better depth to anticipate the absence of their important players.

Now their chance to finish in top four has practically been over with the seven points gap and four remaining games. They only need to maintain their position stay at fifth to play in Europa League next season. This may be their standard of achievement as always they used to finish every other seasons. It's a shame that they were at the top of the table at one point, but they have to finish outside of the top four.

We know there's presence of other elite teams that's ready to place their huge bids for Xabi Alonso but with the current level this spectacular coach find himself, he chooses to remain in Bayer Leverkusen to upgrade the entire level of the club. Xabi Alonso is careful because any slightest wrong choice will definitely see the end of his career. He's doing an amazing job for Bayer Leverkussen this season, everyone gives him his credits because he deserves them.

I think Xabi Alonso is being realistic with his managerial career with a rush to move to a bigger challenge. He has already succeeded with building a team to success, now he want to have a challenge of maintenance of what he has built. If he succeeds in the maintenance, he will be no longer difficult to find a chance to manage any big team in the world.

I think Xabi Alonso is a man with principle who appreciates the bond he has created in the squad of Leverkusen. He won't leave them when Leverkusen having a bigger challenge of playing in Champions League next season. If he leaves now, maybe few players will also leave, because big clubs are also targeting their players who have performed brilliantly in Bundesliga. When he is available to move from Leverkusen, many big clubs will compete to hire him as their manager.

Zinedine Zidane would prefer to become coach of Manchester United rather than Bayern Munich!

~

Competition is much higher in the Premier League and winning a championship there is more valuable as a result. I understand Zidane about using these words because of that. However he should get ready for a big challenge at Manchester United in that case. He won't have a great squad in his hand right away. He will need to ponder on how he can make this team way stronger. If he is okay with that then no problem.  Smiley

But I think Erik ten Hag is still likely to stay. I don't think he is the main problem. The squad is weak what can he do in this situation?
I think that statement shows that Zidane has a strong mentality to compete in a tough league and a tough situation. Baine a manager at Bayern feels like a safe place to achieve glories because Bayern have been dominating the league for a long time under several managers. Zidane sees Manchester United as a real challenge for his managerial capability.

I think Zidane being at Manchester United will trigger top talents to come to Manchester United. He will able to build a strong squad, because Manchester United also have a spending power to persuade top players to come in. I think Manchester United will happily sack Ten Hag, if they can hire Zidane, because he has reputation and pull power that will help the club to rebuild the team to be stronger and back to compete at the highest level of football. The fact that Manchester United will not play in Champions League next season will not help the club to build a strong team, if Ten Hag stays at the club.

Of course, this will be a difficult match for Lyon, because they will face a team that is also aiming for their best position in the standings. Likewise with Lille, it will not be easy for them to win this match, because Lyon cannot be underestimated either, so this is a game that will not be easy for both Lyon and Lille.
I actually see their match as an opportunity for the Lille team who are aiming for a top three position this season. Because Lille is only one point behind Brest and three points behind Monaco, Lille will definitely try not to be careless and try to win at home in order to win a better position. And I think Lille certainly won't underestimate a team like Lyon because this team also often troubles big teams in its class in League 1, where Lyon is also able to put on quite a good performance in their away matches.
Lyon is not a weak team in general and they still have status as one of the teams in Ligue One despite the bad results they have achieved this season. I think if I were Lille I certainly wouldn't underestimate Lyon in the slightest and instead I would continue to attack until it was possible to secure a win at home.

Lille have a real target in front of them and they cannot be complacent just because of their current position and if everything is possible then they must shift these two teams from the standings and finish in the right place. So I think everything has to go with the strategy they will give later and Lyon will still try their best not to lose.
Lyon is a big team in Ligue 1. They have a record to win seven consecutive league titles from 2002 to 2008. This record set them as an elite team in Ligue 1 history, despite that was the first time they won the league title in 2002. That has become their foundation of the club culture as a big club. This has something to do with their resurrection in the second half of this season after being in the bottom of the league for a quite some times.

Being a big club is about having mentality to compete in any circumstance. Lille shouldn't underestimate the improvement of Lyon's performance, because Lyon's current position doesn't tell their real capability. That is a must win game for Lille to stay challenging their place in Champions League zone.

Wolves away performance is never stable, back in February they were able to beat Tottenham and Chelsea but then lost against Aston and Newcastle.
Mancity definitely will win this match because Wolves is not a defensive team when away - my prediction is 5-2 or 4-1 for Mancity.
There will be many goals in this match, Mancity must score as many goals as possible in the remaining 4 matches because Arsenal Goal difference is 57 while Mancity is 50.
Wolves is an unpredictable team, sometimes they are able to gain points against big clubs, but they can lose games against much weaker teams. They have problems with injuries, but when they play with their starting eleven, things don't often go better. Their style of play is so direct that makes them difficult to play against teams that prioritize their defense.

Manchester City will easily beat Wolves in the upcoming game, because Manchester City is in full spirit to defend the Premier League title, while It will be meaningless game for Wolves, because they are already safe from relegation and have no point to go up position on the table. The only reason for Wolves to give a good fight is the motivation of their players to show their ability for professional reasons like they want to get a new contract or make a move to a better club.
33  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Why do some people hide to gamble on: May 03, 2024, 10:25:25 PM
So many people are hiding their gambling habits because, either they are not up to 18 years and so on.
Some people are hiding their gambling activities because they are underage, but some people are adults and they are still hiding their gambling activities. Gambling in some societies is taken as an irresponsible activity, so they don’t want people to take them as irresponsible people in the society. That’s why they choose to make their gambling activities hidden.
Including myself, gambling is still hiding in the sense that I never show gambling in a group of friends, so it will be considered bad by them and if the community knows this is bad behavior, especially those underage, it is certain that there is a ban, but because of online casinos, everything becomes easy without others knowing.

Even if we ourselves think that our gambling is responsible and disciplined but other people will not know that it will not be a problem, but they will think about the badness so for me it is normal as long as we should not display like a stressed person because of gambling.
In many countries, engaging in gambling carries a social stigma. even in liberal countries, Gambling is still perceived a negative behavior, because you win money over people losing money. Community might push for bans, because it's perceived as harmful. Online casinos make gambling easier to hide. People don't tend to understand responsible gambling, because they might not be able to tell the difference from the outside. Gambling can impact loved ones who worry about the finances or time spent.

It's important to be honest with yourself about your habits. There is fine line between responsible gambling and addiction. There are not many people who understand that gambling is also a form of entertainment, because it carries risks that is impactful to society. The social stigma and potential risks are reasons for gamblers to focus on responsible gambling and setting limits. Being open with close friends or family about gambling habits may be a better way to hold accountability.

Although the rumors are very strong that Tuchel will soon part ways, think again there is no instant coach after joining who can win trophies for the first time, this obviously takes a long time and hard work but I know Bayern Munich management will know what to do.

About the trophy getting all that great team, when the domestic league trophy fails there is still the UCL trophy even though the competition is tight but it cannot be denied that anything can happen with Bayern Munich in the second leg later, although we see a different view where Real Madrid will be more favored.
It's not a secret that the Bayern fans like the idea of Tuchel leaving his position as the head coach. The rumors could be stronger if there is indication from the senior players showing the disappointment of the coaching issue. Bayern is not a club giving the coach his time to build the plan to success, because they are the regular champion in the league with talented players in the squad. No reason to give Tuchel a long time to success, because every other coach in the past could deliver success in the first season.

The only chance for Tuchel to keep his job is by winning the Champions League trophy. Even if he succeeds to win the Champions league trophy, winning the dressing room is also important for a team of Bayern's caliber, because they have great players who have reached many success with the club and the national team. This is about confidence being in the club of Bayern Munich.

lol, this is actually funny seeing how Chelsea fans throw words at Jackson mostly when Chelsea and Arsenal played. Jackson is not so bad as most people view but Jackson love making mistakes he can’t coverup during the match, after making such mistake he still decides to play same way and make same mistake over and over. Jackson really need a free space to improve but since this season is coming to an end there’s not enough time for covering up little mistakes but he should see every little game as a challenge and come back stronger next season if only he can and I have this feeling Jackson has a lot to offer regardless but the pressure is just too much, Chelsea above Newcastle this season is under probability cause Newcastle facing burnley next looks like a easy one
Jackson may be not good enough to be a prolific striker, but team doesn't help him either. The role of the wingers in the team is also making it hard for Jackson to develop his instinct as a striker, because the wingers position themself as runner instead of creators. The front line in this Chelsea team don't compliment each other to make the attacks effective.

This issue should actually be a responsible of the coach. Pochettino should adjust the tactics and style of play to compliment the attackers. If Jackson keeps failing to converts the chances, his confidence could drop to a point he doesn't know his role as a striker. Pochettino should just reduce his role to make it easier for him to do his job as a poacher.

If they can't handle it anymore, maybe they will do it for real this time? What you said about gambling is true and if one can't accept the other outcome which is losing, much better if they just don't bet at all. If we are true fan, I don't think we will blame our idols once we lose the bet that we made on their game.

There are people who blame them secretly and they won't know it, so they won't feel bad about it but even if let say they are aware, I still don't think they will beat their selves for that. They are professionals and it's not their fault already but it's the fault of the gamblers because they may be too greedy, lazy, ignorant, etc...  to try and earn money out of gambling.
The people who engage in gambling should know the consequence of gambling, They need to take responsible of their gambling activity. Accepting the possibility of losing should me the mindset when they enter the game of luck. The key principle is that they should just gamble what you can afford to lose. Gambling shouldn't cloud that true fans support their idols win or lose. A true fan should separate their emotions about the game from the bet. It's just a common understanding of feeling disappointed about a loss, even if it's a bet.

The thrill of a win can be tempting, but as fans, they have to understand that gambling comes with the risk of losing. Giving genuine support means cheering for your idols regardless of the outcome. It's weird to blame athletes when you lose your bet, because the bet is your choice after judging the capability of the athletes. Sometimes, the best bet is to simply enjoy the game and leave gambling aside. This way is better for the mental health, having respects for the athletes is what true fans should be, while acknowledging the emotional aspects of sports fandom.
37  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Would you cashout or wait for the game to conclude? on: May 02, 2024, 11:09:00 PM

It only takes a good and confident gambler to wait for such kind of bet to conclude before they cash out and that is if they win the bet actually. Most time in sport bets, many gamblers do not wait untill the match is concluded before they cash out the money. This could be as a result of the previous loses that had made them to lose severely in gambling.

Past experiences most time used to affect us when we gamble and because we don't want to make the same mistakes over and over again, sometimes we try to prevent it by cashing out the little profit so we don't finally lose in bet as a result if greed and future regret if we finally wait and still lose the bet instead of cashing out earlier.
There is a difference between confident gamblers and those who might cash out early. A confident gambler trusts their analysis, and would complete the playing game if they know a strong position in their favor. They understand that short-term fluctuations don't necessarily signal a loss. Sticking with the bet allows them to collect the full payout if they win.

Securing a profit can be a wise move, because gamblers usually worry worry that the game might take a turn for the bad round, even if they're currently winning. Taking a guaranteed profit rather than risk losing everything is always the first option. Gamblers prefer to enjoy the game by completing it, but early cash out can be a way to limit losses on a bad bet. Cutting their losses early makes them having more money to wager on future bets. Past losses can make gamblers risk-averse, this can be a reason to cashing out early to avoid the disappointment of a potential loss.

Isak is a good player and can score in goals as much as it’s needed from a striker. Still at that, Robert Lewandowski’s type of football and contribution to the game cannot be overlooked because he had been an important player for them this season and have scored a lot of goals that have kept them going and maintain the position they are now. His age is quite high now but the work he put into the game when playing is way above of an average player or a teen player, he’s a great striker to be reckoned on. If they’re letting him go because of his high salary and not for poor performance or age that cannot withstand with the intensity of the La Liga games again, it should be a big shame to Barcelona. Let’s see if that won’t be the case when he’s leaving the club.
With the aging Lewandowski, Xavi need to reduce his role in the front line. It's better to keep him as just a poacher without dropping deep like how false nine playing. With the financial problem, Xavi has no guarantee to sign a good striker to replace Lewandowski. I don't think signing Alexander Isak is a good option, because he is an injury prone who never play a full season for Newcastle without injury.

The high wage for Lewandowski can be a problem for Barcelona to register their new signings. Selling him may be a good option, but Barcelona will face challenges in signing his replacement, because they also need to strengthen another areas like wingers and defense line. These complicated problems put Xavi in difficult situation, his best option right now is to improve the available squad like he has been doing in the second half of this season.

The challenges that Barcelona will face next season are not only limited to the financial crisis they are facing and their efforts to build a squad, but the increasing strength of Madrid. If Los Blancos succeeds in recruiting Mbappe from PSG, we can imagine how hard Barcelona will have to try to win the trophy, but Xavi survival is another stroke of luck for Barcelona. Xavi remains optimistic about next season, even though he realizes the huge pressure awaits him ahead.

The limited finance to build a better squad and the increasing strength of Real Madrid are mutual exclusive challenge, not separate challenge. The purpose of building a strong squad is always to be a better team than rival. Madrid singing Mbappe is a big threat for any club, because Madrid already have a strong midfield. Having great and young talents in every position could make Madrid dominating the league next season and seasons after.

This situation puts Barcelona under pressure on their recruitment policy. Barcelona's board needs to give Xavi full support to build a strong squad. Laporta needs to not only make some good signing, but also address the medical department issue which is important to prevent players to constantly picking up injuries like what happened this season.

It was very smart of the coach to rest some players, all is part of tactics and good qualities of a great coach. The matches in the Ligue 1 are not that important as that of the champions league semifinals because no one can overtake them in the Ligue 1 now and collect what they’ve already earned this season from the league. Champions League is a competition they’ve been fighting for several years now and till date, they haven’t got to have an experience of how it feels to be a winner of the champions league trophy. PSG are also playing great this season like they did in other seasons, let’s wait and see if they can at least make it to the finals before we talk about them winning the Champions League trophy.
Resting the regular starters is part of tactics to make the players stay fit for important games. After officially securing the league title, this rotational selection will be easier to apply, but Enrique also needs to give his important players gametimes, because player need to play games to keep their instinct remains sharp for the important games.

With the loss against Dortmund in the first leg of Champions League semi-final, they need to improve their game in the second leg. The have no excuse to not win the second leg, because their focus is totally on the second leg game. Enrique should use the remaining games of the league to sharpen their tactical display to prepare the second leg game.
