1  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Petro: The best attempt to replace the Bolivar in Venezuela on: February 21, 2018, 01:38:35 PM
I just don't understand the chances and risks to be honest.

I read that one Petro is backed by one barrel of oil (~$60 atm). So if the price of oil rises up to $100 for example will that affect the price of the Petro? Can I go to Venezuela and get a barrell of oil guaranteed from the government for one Petro? Or what kind of backup is this?

If there is a backup by oil, wouldn't Petro just behave like Tether? So the price would always stick around the current oil price?

Or is this some other kind of backup and Petro can go anywhere no matter the oil price? The economy of Venezuela can't become much worse so at some point it might become better. Would that affect the price of the Petro?

My question is if I buy Petro am I betting on oil or on the economy of Venezuela or both or none of it? Or nobody knows? Does someone know more about it who could explain this?

Thanks!

I can live with BTC or Altcoins. If you are interested just place a bid and if the coin works for me it's fine. Smiley
3  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Mining on Mobile Phone on: February 05, 2018, 08:56:24 PM
You can mine on the phone easily if you set up a JavaScript CryptoNight miner on a webserver. There are a some projects on GitHub that you can use for newer coins like Electroneum, IntenseCoin or Sumokoin for example. Or just use CoinHive.

But you won't get much hashpower though. An iPhone 5 gets you around 3 H/s and a newer iPad around 10 H/s. Plus it is more likely that the permanent heat will damage the phone. So it's possible but not really attractive imho. Wink
4  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Any chance to trade ETH to BTC under $50? on: December 11, 2017, 04:08:38 PM
Hi,

I have a bit ETH left not much just around $5 but still I would like to add the value to my BTC stash. I couldn't find any exchange yet that is able to. I tried some and lost a bit due to tx fees just to find out that I can't trade it anywhere unless I have about $50 worth of ETH.

Is there a way to trade it? Or can I just forget about it? That would render ETH just worthless unless you have at least a value of $50 in ETH. Bitcoin Cash would be ok, too or LTC.

Cheers!
5  Economy / Exchanges / Re: HitBTC.com - The most advanced cryptocurrency exchange on: August 08, 2017, 02:13:10 PM
I have tried HitBTC for the first time and I can't say that my impression is very good.

First they have the highest withdrawal fees I have ever seen.

Second (and that is annoying me the most), is that every trade amount has to be a divisor of n. So you will never be able to trade the full amount you have. You will always leave some dust there forever.

Third, the trading fees. 10% for trading BCH to BTC? That is just too much.

That doesn't make HitBTC look very attractive for me. Please correct me if I got something wrong.

7  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] WorkingForBitcoins.com - New Freelancer Platform on: July 25, 2017, 08:37:36 PM
That's a nice site! I have seen there are not so many offers yet, but I hope it will rise up.

I am using Upwork for myself, but the commission fees for freelancers are very high. No commission fees for freelancers sound very attractive. Though, a good thing at Upwork is that they do the escrow part to protect you from scammers. Wouldn't it be a good idea if you partner up with an escrow service? Like users still don't pay to your site directly, but you could api the escrow service, create an escrow automatically, when a job is accepted and also give the freelancer a green light, when btc are deposited? It think this could be easily automated and add value and security to the service.

Maybe it can be an option to do both. Minimum the funds verification that you offer now, or optional the automatic escrow service? Does it make sense?

Edit: Do you have a referral program or are you planning to create one for existing users who bring in new clients? Like a n% commission fee on the jobs they successfully get finished?

10  Economy / Micro Earnings / Re: My 1st Faucet Freecoins.win on: July 25, 2017, 06:23:15 PM
Well I can't say if a faucet can be really a source of income because I don't have any Wink but I think it would be interesting to get that experience, too.

But I have a different opinion about marketing through social media. There are lots of campaigns here, where you can make some coins with that, but you need to have a lot of followers/friends. I for myself use Twitter and FB just to interact with my friends, and for that most people won't even get above 500 friends in their social media to be able to make anything out of it.

You can of course always create a fanpage or another Twitter account, and it is easy to get many followers/friends since there are lots of exchanges and services out there to accomplish that. But if you have a profile full of those followers, I think it is unlikely that an advertiser can profit much from that. So the only way you can make money with Social Media Marketing, is when you have something really of value, that attracts a lot of real followers, which is hard to build and once you reach it, you have much more worth than a few Satoshi imho. I just want to point out it is not so easy as well.

But I am also no expert in this. It is just my opinion so far. I'm always open to be convinced otherwise.
11  Economy / Micro Earnings / Re: My 1st Faucet Freecoins.win on: July 25, 2017, 04:50:57 PM
Works here. Btw I just checked FaucetHub and even with the error yesterday I received the 40 Satoshi. Today it worked without any problem. Great job Smiley

About the other errors:

I am using Chrome and didn't have the error that ceferov had.

Also, I noticed that FaucetHub is a little slow atm. It can also have to do with my connection/route. But eventually that explains the error that chesegrinder encountered?

Hi I just tried it. It looks simple and is not so full of banners like other websites. Also no popunder. That is very sympathic.

But there seems to be an error with the timer or captcha. When I solve it, it says invalid captcha, no satoshi and the timer runs. But you can try again anyway, it just repeats saying that the captcha was wrong.

Hope this helps!

15  Economy / Micro Earnings / Re: Making a living off of bitcoin faucets, is it actually possible? on: July 23, 2017, 01:00:18 AM
I think even in third world countries you couldn't really make a living with it. At least if you do it by yourself without referrals. And you won't enjoy much living in a tropical third world country, if you have to solve captchas the whole day Grin Besides, there are better badly paid programs in the web to earn money.

But I also don't think faucets are a complete waste of time. I agree to what has already been mentioned. If you get some referrals you can still make some coins, but it has become very difficult to get some. If Bitcoin keeps on growing like it did before, you could still end up having a few hundred bucks in your wallet a few years from now on. It is not like it never happened before.
16  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Localbitcoins looting the money on: July 23, 2017, 12:01:27 AM
It happened to me, too recently. If you open their fees page it is not really clear, that you have to pay a deposit fee. There is a link to the wallet page but it sounds like the normal transaction fee when you withdraw. At least for me this is very misleading and even if it isn't much (especially when you deposit larger amounts there) it is not ok. At least I would expect, that you find that deposit fee on their fees page. Then you can decide, if you want to pay it or not. That they charge it at all, is not really my problem. But how they do it. This is black hat style for me.

I never had problems with localbitcoins as a buyer, and surely I will survive the deposit fee. But I certainly don't like to trust a page, that operates likes this. Imho it says a lot about the mindset behind it.
17  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Funds stuck on Btc-e's Metatrader 4 on: November 06, 2016, 08:20:12 PM
I have the same problem. I just wanted to test the MT4 yesterday and now I can't transfer the funds back to my BTC-e account. It always says "insufficient balance".

Seems like the bug still hasn't been fixed but the responses here and another one from reddit give me at least the hope that I will get my money back once the ticket has been processed. I thought it might be a good idea to update this post.

My Flypool problem is solved now! I got the right clues on forum.z.cash.

The problem was a security feature on flypool. You have to use the IPv4 address of the first worker on the dashboard in order to make any changes.

I have three workers and my provider is using IPv6 only so that's why it didn't work. I installed a miner on a VPS using a v4 IP address and changed the worker name to aaa so that it would appear as the first one on the list. After a few minutes it appeared on the dashboard and with that IP address it was possible to change the payout amount. Everything is fine now. No doubt anymore that Flypool is legit.
19  Local / Deutsch (German) / Re: Hardware Wallet – etwas zum nachdenken… on: October 31, 2016, 10:23:38 PM

20  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: ZCash Mining Guide on: October 31, 2016, 09:32:31 PM
I'm having some trouble mining ZEC on flypool.org (etherchain.org). I have reached the payment threshold but it doesn't pay because the settings always switch back to the standard amount. I haven't received any response to my ticket and I see on twitter that other people are having the same problem.

I have stopped mining ZEC with flypool.org for now. But I'm curious if anyone here has already received any ZEC from them by reaching the standard payout amount? I just would like to know if it's scam or a temporary issue (I don't know the pool very well). It's not much money I know. But still..
