1  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: I was just banned from BFL forums on: May 25, 2013, 04:34:10 AM
"supposedly' they shipped all jalapeno orders for june 23 to 25th on 3 days ago.  What isn't clear is if this was another 'burp' like a month ago when they shipped out samples to testers and important people or actually for real customers.

https://forums.butterflylabs.com/blogs/

I received my jally 5/23 (ordered 6/24/12) and Im a nobody.

so at least they are shipping to regular folks now.

be interesting to see how well they can keep it up.

Is there any chance you could be bothered to post a picture of your unit with a timestamp?

Just for those of us wearing tinfoil hats.
2  Economy / Speculation / Re: I speculate the price of bitcoin will go up, then down, then up, then down. on: May 20, 2013, 03:45:28 AM
no lines on a price chart, not a legit prediction
3  Economy / Economics / Re: Bitcoin Poll on: May 18, 2013, 02:58:45 AM
Your poll is missing the most likely option.
4  Economy / Speculation / Re: BTC will reach $130 and it will stabilize. on: May 18, 2013, 02:53:55 AM
so yeah, the price might change at some point...

That is a bold statement. Do you have TA to back it?
5  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Bitcoin adult domains... on: May 18, 2013, 02:46:09 AM
Hire a team of artists to draw anthropomorphic bitcoins having sex, and post the images on your website.
6  Economy / Speculation / Re: Help me learn technical analysis, criticism -needed- on: May 17, 2013, 03:58:19 AM
Taking images of charts and drawing lines on them? Looks like you're doing exactly what you need to do.

Now just start talking about patterns observed in your cherry picked snippet with any combination of adjective and shape. "That's a Bear Triangle!" "That's a Bull Ellipse!" "That's a Pensive Spheroid!" Don't worry, there's no standard duration, axis transformation, or trendline function. Feel free to plot log time against the square root of price for the last eleven minutes if it helps you illustrate your point.

It is important to end your TA post with an extremely strong, very bold statement about where the price is going. It's also important to be vague so that you cannot be held accountable later. But most importantly, this is the Economics Speculation forum on bitcointalk.org, so it is of utmost importance that you are making a bullish prediction. If you are making a bearish prediction, your methods will be criticized.

Hope this helps!

8  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: BFL May 12th Update on: May 14, 2013, 03:21:15 AM
I believe the Apocalyse and Second Coming will come long before there exists a BFL ASIC. I see on BFL forums people who also think the same and have opened threads to that same effect. Sad, isn't it?

I'm actually pretty stunned at how much the tables have turned over there on the BFL forums, and even more stunned that Josh hasn't gone on a massive deleting spree of all the negative comments on the forums.

Maybe not retroactively, but starting now it's proactive.

If you are new to the forum or rarely post, you may notice that your posts are "moderated."

This means that once you make a post, it needs to be approved before it shows up on the forum, this does not mean there was an error posting and you need to post again. If you post multiple times, it just takes posts longer to be approved as the list of moderated posts and threads grows longer.

If you notice your post is taking a long while to be approved, this may mean that no moderators are currently available to approve posts, but I can assure you that at least once a day I personally go through and deal with all moderated posts.

Thank you for your patience,

Is this another China speculation thread?
11  Economy / Speculation / Re: State your position on: May 12, 2013, 02:00:31 AM
I believe that the price of bitcoin will change over some short or long period of time.
12  Economy / Speculation / Re: *[POLL]* Whats the trend right now SELL BUY or HOLD on: May 10, 2013, 04:43:24 AM
Bitcointalk's speculation forum is a board full of outrageous bulls. The obvious majority of this poll is going to be hold.

13  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: 29,000 votes on Dropbox website, will they start accepting bitcoin? on: May 05, 2013, 07:13:28 AM
Voted!

Dropbox is such a huge part of my software infrastructure, and my life would be considerably harder without it. I would love to see them accept bitcoin.
14  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Guess who’s got two thumbs and Jalapeno…….this guy…. on: April 28, 2013, 05:33:31 AM
smoothie, how many customers need a working product before you'll admit BFL has a working prototype? Just curious.

The orange ignore button beneath his name suggests to me that the answer may not be finite.

As an aside, ignoring users with large red signatures appears to be an excellent policy.
15  Economy / Speculation / Re: [poll] Is the correction over? on: April 28, 2013, 03:06:45 AM

My modest technical analysis leads me to conclude with at least 95% certainty that bitcoin will have risen by about $400,000.00 by tomorrow afternoon.
16  Economy / Speculation / Re: the real tendline proves bitcoin is overvalued on: April 27, 2013, 08:45:29 AM
In technical analysis, people stare at charts and look for patterns. They come up with weird things like dead-cat-bounce and weird tools like candlesticks. I never trust them for more than a cursory sorting of stocks.

This.

I wouldn't trust any TA without a confidence interval, a log-likelihood, classifier accuracy, or anything of the like. I ESPECIALLY wouldn't trust an analysis (or a speculator) that claims they do not need statistics.

Doesn't matter if you're using Morse wavelets or drawing triangles if all you do is look at the margin and cherry pick.

18  Economy / Speculation / Re: Where will Bitcoin be in a week this time? on: April 27, 2013, 07:36:03 AM
lmao, your votes are like a gaussian about an optimistic estimate of the short-term future value of bitcoin.

Bulls, all of you.

why is this a thread and not a PM?
20  Economy / Speculation / Re: Over $200 by May 3rd on: April 27, 2013, 01:20:32 AM
$200 by the third? Bear.

$9,000,000,000 by tomorrow afternoon or bust. Buy or be sorry!
