It surprises me how someone is sophisticated enough to use BTC yet falls into this kinda trap

Unfortunately, it all goes down to choosing the lesser of two evils. Neither of candidates really represent what president should be like. My vote will go to Trump though, he's managed to not enter another useless unneccessary war (sadly, that's about the only good thing he's done). There's no way I'm going to let radical left thrive and turn this country into soviet nightmare

It seems to me that USA is going the same way Russia once went (1917) with kulaks. Scary shit. Nobody will benefit from this, even the "opressed" ones.

Of course it's made to be a big deal, but $6.5 mil is nothing. No wonder this news got covered mainly on governmental sources, especially right before the elections

If the internet will still be a thing (which I'm sure it will), BTC can become the most valuable asset. If it gets really dark though, gold might be the new money (or food, in the worst case scenario)

Thank you for explaining the current situation in the country, I hope the united majority will eventually win. All exit-polls and other social polls are banned there, but one independent poll of 50k people from all social layers of population says that the current corrupt president got up to 15% votes while the opposition candidate got up to 80%. This was even before mass arrests, beatings, rape and murders initiated by "special" police forces.
As to using BTC, it's definitely a good thing for adoption and pretty convenient way to help repressed families, but I feel like it'll soon be banned by law in some way or another

I'd say it's already pretty mainstream but the pivot point will be the fall of USD

Every time he does something like this, and the only effect is a bit of grumbling in the international community, it encourages him to do the same again in the future. And each time he does so, it reinforces his strong-man image. We see the same behaviour with other powerful countries, most notably China's approach towards Hong Kong.
Sad but true. While the world is busy fighting corona-related issues, dictators go nuts with no visible repercussions

At this point Putin can just put out whatever BS he wants using the image we all in some way endowed him with and this BS will be seriously discussed. This guy is by no means a fooll but definitely slowly gets into lunatic zone

Lmao I don't like the reasons or logic behind his proposition, but I damn would like something like tik-tok and twitter to be eliminated

It could be a step to limit fraudulent activities with cryptocurrencies. With bitcoin and crypto available for trading, it will help their people to grow personally without transferring their funds to anyone thus, restricting people to be tempted to scam other by transferring to random wallet address they own. Or maybe, one of the reason why they allow this is because they own a portion of mining facilities that couldn't just shutted down just because they don't want bitcoin.
This premise would've been possible if Russian government actually cared about its citizens a bit. But literally everything they do is made to support corruption without interference

Didn't see McAfee eating his dong - won't see Sun giving away $1 mil. These are guys from the same tear to me

I feel like if this movie ever gets done, it's surely gonna be as controversial as any Jesus movie

How in the hell btc or any posts like the topic starter's one can solve this problem? It never seizes to amaze me how brainwashed into being "opressed" people are in the wealthiest and war-less places on earth. Take on your responcibility and stop playing a victim, this makes you weak and actually useless for solving problems you want to adress in the first place

From my experience of living in an authoritarian state, mass surveillance can partially lower crime rate among citizens, but only by the awful cost of government being able to freely commit all these crimes by itself

But what they're gonna do now? How this huge of a banking establishment take advantage of Bitcoin without undermining it's own principals?

Looking at how things are progressing with legislation in Russia, I noticed several things:
This is all ridiculous and looks like half of the politics who spoke about crypto have a little understanding of what they are trying to control/legalize.
This is exactly what's going on, whether it's crypto, drug policy or communications. The FUD is the only thing that makes them make such drastic moves, competence is not about russian laws (some of them, at least. they know what they do propaganda-wise for sure)

I don't know who that guy is,but I wonder why the other protesters haven't kicked him out of the protest.
