201  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Why does one tx go trough and the other not? on: June 03, 2014, 06:20:25 AM
A smart guy fools a gambling site (which accepts unconfirmed deposits but allows withdraws only after all deposits are confirmed) by depositing bitcoin in low priority transactions (unconfirmed inputs, no fees). When he doubles his wage he waits a day until his low priority deposit is finaly confirmed and cashes out. When he loses his wage he somehow achieves that his deposit do not confirm at all and just creates a new account.

What I don't understand is why one tx gets confirmed and the other one does not. Does not look like a double spend to me but maybe I'm misinterpret blockchain data.

Here are two example transactions:

Confirmed tx (and I have no idea why this one went trough but the other did not):

Unconfirmed tx (and I'm pretty sure it won't confirm):

202  Economy / Gambling / Re: Do you prefer anonymous gambling (no sign up) or gambling where you must signup? on: May 21, 2014, 07:25:29 PM
Some numbers from https://satoshi-karoshi.com (last 6 month) where both is possible:

3476 anonymous accounts
2786 regular accounts (1387 of them even entered their email address)

Myself I allways prefer anonymity and I rarely sign up to gambling sites which require email + captcha instead of shutting up and taking my money  Grin

About losing your account: as xinzark already said there is the possibility to prove ownership by proving ownership of the sender address on deposits. We had some cases and allways sent remaining funds back to the origin address.
203  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Lost smartphone with bitcoin wallet on: May 19, 2014, 07:51:22 PM
Are there any security measures to take when  you use your wallet on a smartphone ?

Simple... don't keep more money in your smartphones bitcoin wallet than you keep fiat in your real life wallet.

Make a website about africa photos, interviews (or something else unique) and put advertisement a-ads.com  Smiley

How does a-ads.com work? I really dont understand it... and how can I make some btc from it?

It's about advertising. Publishers/Webmasters who own a website can rent out their banner ad space and Marketers who own a business can rent these spaces to put their advertizing there. A-ads is a marketer for banner ad space and brings these people together and handles technical stuff and clearance.

conspiracy: their verification system doesn't proof that lucky numbers are uniformly distributed. maybe it's a trap to make people bet on 91%?

nice try, allmost got me Grin

210  Economy / Gambling / Re: A Gambling Site Idea! on: May 04, 2014, 07:10:38 PM
Cool idea, here we go Smiley

I've modified the game a bit:
- you can bet lo, hi + between
- you don't get 2x but the multiplier is calculated for each bet instead (up to about 12x)
- provable fair

211  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: How safe is it to invest in just-dice on: April 27, 2014, 11:33:31 PM
Just-dice and doog have a excellent reputation and personally I would say pretty safe. But things happen, think about gox or inputs.io... you should never leave more money than you can afford to lose on any site.

214  Economy / Gambling / Re: Satoshi-Karoshi Multiplayer Roulette on: March 24, 2014, 01:31:28 AM
i had no fucking idea how this worked and i ended up loosing .2 btc in 5 fucking seconds i clicked a button  and it placed a chip in the middle of the board can't tell you how fucking mad I was and when i went to log out it added another chip and that chip wasn't even on the fucking board which literally fucking made me almost throw my computer across the room rougly 180$ in a matter of fucking seconds can't tell you how mad i got

- The highest valued chip is currently 10 mBTC = 0.01 BTC - you would have needed to accidently place at least 20 bets to lose 0.2 BTC
- There are no buttons on the page.
- It's drag 'n drop. You can click safely anywhere a million times without placing a bet
- You went to log out without withdrawing your funds? Yeah. Sure.
- Nobody lost 0.2 BTC in satoshi-karoshi roulette the last couple of days.

So what the hell are you talking about?

Nevertheless, thanks for bumping the topic.

This seems like it would be fun if a bunch of people were playing (assuming it's provably fair).

Sure thing. I really hope it becomes more popular  Grin

Number generation is provable fair, here are more details: https://www.satoshi-karoshi.com/?a=Roulette.list
217  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Set-up a Hot Cold Wallet System on: March 22, 2014, 01:50:29 AM
What system do you use on Satoshi-Karoshi for instantly withdrawal?

Hot wallet: a bitcoind 0.8.6 @localhost holding an amout which would hurt but would not kill me if hacked.
Cold wallet: paper wallets (using blockchain.info android app to scan private keys)
218  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Set-up a Hot Cold Wallet System on: March 21, 2014, 11:05:36 PM
In my opinion the safest way is Coinbase OAuth2 + permissions. Am I right?
Are there other ways to set-up a hot wallet?

There is allways a server which needs access to the hot wallet and when this server is compromised it does not matter which wallet you use - the attacker can access it the same way... Running a bitcoind yourself reduces the possibility of a man-in-the-middle attack and makes you independent of a third party (MtGox also had a secure API btw.).
If you have skills + resources I'd say it's allways best to run a own client.

Blockchain.info - Think they are really convenient + trustworth and I used the API some time last year (then decided to run bitcoind as I love the fact to handle it completely on my own and am not incapable of action on any downtimes). Beware: in contrast to their online wallet where decryption takes place on your client side, when you use the API then you send your decryption password (in plaintext... okay it's a secure SSL connection but anyways...) and decryption takes place on their server.
