Economy / Speculation / Re: Looks like 2000 next month

I currently picture myself buying lots of Bitcoins around $ 500 during the next month.
Price will definitely be stable at 700-800$ even there is no hard fork that will happen. I dont believe it will drop at 500$ again ,cause the chance of getting back at $500 is too little. Well, we might not see prices as low as 500$ but anything in the range of the price around the last halving in July 2016 seems reasonable to me.

Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Bitstamp daily volume is just 10-15% of what it used to be. Why?

There was way too much real turmoil and FUD around Bitcoin in the last few weeks. People are fed up and carefull and there is no real incentive to short trade Bitcoins at the moment, at least not in high quantities.
I believe that Bitcoin needs to cool down to get over all the bad reputation it earned lately and let the dust settle around the whole MtGox dilema. This will get really ugly in a frew months when the investigations and lawsuits start to produce results and people realize how much they actually lost.
However, I am surprised how stable the price was during the latest storms and without further catastrophies we will see trust coming back within the next few months.
Personally I don't expect any big movements or incentives for extensive exchange trading in the near future without any real big news which turns Bitcoin towards a wider adoption as a payment instrument. Anything else is pure speculation and we had our share of that in the last 3 month.

I have a real deja-vu. Last year I traded on bitcoin-24 and it crashed. I had bitcoins and no fiat there and got everything out. This yeare it's Mt.Gox. I have Bitcoins and fiat there, but I am positive to get at least most of it out. I don't dare to tell you what exchange I am using now, don't want to frighten the sheeples away

Hope so. I feel sorry for the ones that sold their BTC at bottom price while they could just gotten full value for it in the long term.
I feel only sorry for myself. I sent a deposit last friday, taking the risk and trying to go in for cheap coins while everyone wished MtGox to die. Still no credits on my account and I have the odd feeling that it is intentionally delayed to block me from getting my share of those cheap goxCoins before they enable withdrawals and price goes to the moon! BTT: that's good news, I hope withdrawals on MtGox are up around the weekend and we can drop this topic and focus on the future of bitcoin again.

Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Banks have no deposit atms, we do

I only use online banks and there's no way to deposit cash. Bitcoin has finally improved this scenario. Not only can I deposit cash, the entire Bitcoin network is mine. No more looking for those logos.
I predict the big banks will die but the online banks will soon embrace us. All hail ING. They're awesome.
Where have you been for the last 5 years, nearly every bank in my area can take cash & check deposits directly into the ATM 24 hours a day. I'm from Austria, which I wouldn't really consider underdeveloped. But here I have yet to see a single ATM that allows deposits. Is this something common elsewhere? There are plenty of foyer ATMs at many bigger Bank oulets allowing deposits, at least around Vienna. But I don't know any real outdoor ATM allowing it ...

Andreas A. thinks that it may take 2-4 more weeks for Gox to update their code. So, I would not be surprised if its another "positive" PR spin saying that they need more time but things are going swell.
If this happens, they are dead. Resuming BTC withdrawals within this week (at least over the weekend) is their only chance to keep any credibility they might have left.

Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: bitcoin is failing in replacing fiat in physical shops
|
on: February 19, 2014, 10:44:07 PM

Bitcoin is a perfect replacement for fiat on online shops (aka e-commerce), who cares if it takes 10 minutes for your transaction to be confirmed when you buy eg. a book on Amazon?
But by design bitcoin will never be as comfortable as fiat or debit and credit cards at physical POS like super markets or the grocery store down the block.
