1  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: the birth of bitcoin will cause google to die? on: May 13, 2018, 06:38:06 AM
I don't think that some technological giant such as Google will relinquish control over its reign as the worlds top search engine. Well, if changes are necessary to the point that they need to make huge changes to their systems and business model, it will be just a cinch for them to adjust. If it really holds weight, the transition to a system that suits the need of a growing blockchain network can also be easily predicted by people at Google in advanced. This will enable them to slowly adapt and develop strategies to that direction.
2  Local / Pilipinas / Re: Philippine breaking news (crypto news) on: May 13, 2018, 02:41:11 AM
Well, there is another bad news that is adding to the pile of bitcoin's bad reputation here in the Philippines. Dahil madalas ang mga ganyang balita tungkol sa bitcoin, there's really a sad probability na mai-associate ng mga tao ang scam with bitcoin(Availability Heuristics). On the other hand, I think media is only focusing on the bad things about bitcoin like scams, money laundering, and use in drug transactions; all the dramatic stuff that people will be sure to remember. I don't know, dahil ba mas madaling hanapan ng butas ang mga cryptocurrencies kesa pag-aralan ito nang mabuti upang makita kung ano ang mga magaganda nitong naibibigay sa publiko?
3  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The internet is just a fad! This remind you of anything? on: May 13, 2018, 02:23:05 AM
We cannot predict the future perfectly, but I guess Blockchain and cryptocurrency is the next big thing since the advent of the internet. People dismiss bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies altogether without further understanding its implications to the future society. Furthermore, bitcoin is a continuously developing concept; it evolves very rapidly and there is a growing number of core developers now. We can't really judge something's future based on its present state. As of now, people are not seeing the complete shape of bitcoin technology because it doesn't take any shape yet. Thus, judgment is still too early.
4  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Steve Wozniak: Bitcoin is mathematical on: May 13, 2018, 02:12:24 AM
Well, indeed math is the driving force of cryptography and of course cryptocurrencies. Mathematics is also the in the core of bitcoin mining and solving mathematical problems for bitcoin miners are getting harder and harder as more miners are brought into the pool and more transactions are being committed to the blockchain. Needless to say, the economics of bitcoin is driven by mathematical principles. So Steve Woz is absolutely right; bitcoin is all about math!
5  Other / Off-topic / Re: Bitcoin & College students . on: May 13, 2018, 02:04:28 AM
Bitcoin is somehow associated with gold right now. But I think it's quite true that bitcoin, like gold, can be a pretty much good investment. People say that we should invest while we are still young so that we can rely on something in the future once we got older or we already have a family. I'm just a college student right now and I'm hopeful about bitcoin its potential. Asset or investment, I think, it's going to be the future.
6  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Can Blockchain Survive Without Bitcoin on: May 13, 2018, 01:27:50 AM
Most definitely yes! It's bitcoin that won't survive without Blockchain. The advent of Blockchain technology offers a lot of applications not only in the cryptocurrency space. Applications in the Internet of Things, Smart Contracts for healthcare, music and so much more. Blockchain brings more to the table and is independent whether cryptocurrency exists or not. Sure, Blockchain was initially developed for applications in the cryptocurrency space, but it turns out to be a much more promising innovation.
7  Local / Pilipinas / Re: Net Neutrality on: May 12, 2018, 05:13:26 PM
The truth is, Net Neutrality was just implemented in the United States. Itinalaga ito para magkaroon ng pantay-pantay na trato ang bawat data sa internet in the sense na pinagbabawal nito na magkaroon ng discrimination and biases sa mga ISP. Say for example, if there is no net neutrality, ISPs can filter out data or only allow selected sites to be accessed by the user. Pwede din na kontrolin ng ISP kung ano lang ang mga sites na pwedeng iaccess ng users or they can slow down access time to sites that doesn't pay fees. Although net neutrality was sucessfully repealed by the FCC, I think it would only be a matter of time and net neutrality will be back. So I think it's not much of a problem for us here in the Philippines, though I strongly believe that abolishing net neutrality is threatening to the future of innovation. With that said, hindi lang future ng cryptocurrency ang malalagay sa peligro because of this, but also the future of the internet as a whole.
8  Local / Pamilihan / Re: PNB looks into use of bitcoin! on: May 12, 2018, 01:37:34 PM
Sana nga ito na simula nang tuloy-tuloy na pangmalawakang adoption ng bitcoin dito sa Pilipinas. I mean, it would really be super convenient pag nakataon to people who oftentimes do online transactions. Also, napakadaming opportunies na pwedeng maioffer ng bitcoin technology not just as digital currency(and its innovative features), but also as a mean to earn profit for ordinary people.
9  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin is the future rightly. on: May 10, 2018, 02:36:57 AM
Bitcoin may be the future or it may be not. Noone really knows. All I know is that it has a great potential; it could be replaced by a better system in the future, who knows. For one thing, it is changing the way people see the world and how we interact with it. It is really a fascinating technology. For all I know, it will pave the way for a better-connected world in the future.  Bitcoin can be a good asset in this technology-driven world where rapid technological developments take place from time to time. It only makes sense for an advanced species to improve their primary mode of exchange to suit the more demanding world.
10  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: I just lost my entire wallet of 13 BTC. on: May 10, 2018, 02:09:34 AM
All I can say is, wow that's a lot of money. Anonymity is really a double-edged sword. I'm really sorry for your lost, and I hope the culprit/s find it in his/her/their heart to return your hard-earned money. I mean, that's really tragic man.  Sad I hope you recover from this very soon. It also served as a lesson to all newbies out there, that they need to be extra cautious in putting cryptocurrencies into their wallet and that they should ensure that whatever device they are using is secure and free from malicious programs that criminals can use to get access to their account.
11  Other / Off-topic / Re: Aliens are Existing. on: May 05, 2018, 02:22:54 PM
I think that there is a great probability that aliens do exist. For instance, every star that we see in the night sky was estimated to have at least one planet on average. And that's just minuscule portion of our galaxy. Also, there are hundreds of billions of galaxies out there, each with millions of stars within them. Not to mention that life elements here on earth originated from the outer space itself. It is really fascinating to think about this kind of things. The thought that there are other living organisms out there. Though it's quite terrifying to think that there is a probability that these creatures can creep out in our solar system. Only time will tell. LOL  Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy
12  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is Bitcoin too complicated for ordinary folks? on: May 05, 2018, 01:54:31 PM
I don't think bitcoin is that complicated, well, of course with enough research that is. It goes without saying, but information about bitcoin is proliferated throughout the internet. Anyone who is not acquainted with cryptocurrencies before can quickly pick up information and start using bitcoin. Of course, learning the mechanics of bitcoin and the blockchain is one thing. Just like credit/debit cards, you don't need to know a great deal about how it works under the hood in order to use it.
13  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why Goverment is not recommending to use digital currency such a bitcoin? on: May 05, 2018, 10:37:59 AM
For one thing, mainstream bitcoin adoption of citizens can hurt the economy of a certain country. The fact that bitcoin is decentralized means that the government will not have any control whatsoever. Bitcoin technology allows the users to transact all across the globe and hold values with bitcoin without having to convert it to cash, this affects the demand for fiat currencies. It takes a lot of effort and time for a certain government to fully adopt bitcoin into their system. Needless to say, since bitcoin is very young and volatile, governments are still reluctant about promoting bitcoin to their citizens.
14  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin is like Myspace - and will be abandoned like Myspace on: May 05, 2018, 08:23:14 AM
Bitcoin as a peer to peer network is hard to bring down. As long as people are willing to use it, bitcoin is staying for good. We should remember that it is only in its early stages of development and there is an increasing number of people getting involved in it. Bitcoin, being open source adds flexibility to the system. I think the concept of cryptocurrency in general, will never be abandoned. I believe that bitcoin will only pave the way to a much more advanced medium of exchange that the future society needs.  Wink
15  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Reputation of Bitcoin in the Philippines. on: May 04, 2018, 12:03:39 AM
Those people who are not knowledgeable enough about bitcoin will definitely avert from using bitcoin in the future. On the other hand, Filipinos are growing more and more aware of the ins and outs bitcoin. It still got ways to go, however, bitcoin is still relatively new and in its early stages of development. Anyway, big companies all around the world are starting to adopt bitcoin in their business models and there are still growing usage of bitcoin all around the world. When these adoptions are fully realized, it will greatly affect the status of bitcoin here in the Philippines.
16  Other / Off-topic / Re: Give a man a fish or teach him how to fish on: May 01, 2018, 09:40:54 AM
Learning all the superficials about bitcoin is indeed useful, but in the long run, it is really ideal to get to the bottom of what really makes bitcoin successful so far, and what improvements can be made in order for it to be an undisputed cryptocurrency. Going with the flow is not really going to be very beneficial in the long run. Seeing things ahead requires a deeper understanding of the technology and I believe that this will be the major driving force for one to succeed in this community.
17  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How to Shut Up Bitcoin Haters on: May 01, 2018, 09:27:40 AM
People are naturally skeptical about the novel things, especially when it comes to money. In order to stay safe, they tend not to touch anything that is related to them as much as possible. Afterall, why would you even try a new and haphazard system when the existing one is still functional? Lack of enough research and influence of the media are the major reasons that hamper wide acceptance of bitcoin. Some of them are just outright lazy to even think about adopting bitcoin(or any other cryptocurrencies in that sense). Some of these people will only change their minds once bitcoin has gone so mainstream, they can't even ignore it. I think it is not for you to convince them to adopt bitcoin. It is only with their own effort to understand bitcoin that they will appreciate what they are missing.
18  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: bitcoin is not discriminatory on: May 01, 2018, 09:05:53 AM
Bitcoin offers anonymity to everyone who uses it. Thus, it is safe to say that it is not discriminatory. However, anonymity is a double-edged sword; it encourages people to use it in illegal transactions. A study suggests that almost 50% of all bitcoin transactions are illegal. This is not so surprising if we consider the nature in which bitcoin technology thrives. However that may be, there are still ways to combat this problem like monitoring and filtering stuff that are going on the internet.
19  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: bitcoin vs. real money??? on: April 30, 2018, 03:21:41 PM
The concept of fiat money revolves around faith. It is the willingness of the people to put faith into them that makes it so successful. Fiat money as a traditional mode of transaction gives us assurance. We are predisposed to embrace things that are commonly accepted by the majority of people in our society and to conform to what was deemed normal in the past. Furthermore, fiat money is readily accessible to all sorts of people without any limiting factors such as age, social status, and location. As long as anyone is willing to accept money as a mode of transaction, there wouldn't be any problem. On the other hand, due to some limitations such as what people call the "digital divide" bitcoin find it hard to seep into the nook and cranny of our society. Unlike fiat money, bitcoin is limited only to people who have the required devices and access to the internet. Nevertheless, the potential of bitcoin being the international currency, for me, is very promising. It unlocks a whole new type of convenience people can surely enjoy.
20  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Regret! on: February 04, 2018, 12:53:43 PM
Does anyone else regret that hasn't invested in certain Altcoins that now rose 400-800%? Because I regret it a lot. :|

I actually am regretful I ignored this idea a long time ago. Had I known about this sooner or later, we never know. Either way, regrets should be kept in the past. I've learned my lesson now and that I have to take risks.
