761  Economy / Exchanges / Re: BitcoinExchange Services - Cash, MoneyPak, Dwolla, Gift Cards, Prepaid Debit, LR on: May 17, 2011, 06:18:29 PM
Gotta be honest, all these raving reviews from brand new users are making this seem sketchier and sketchier.  Anybody who's been here a while tried his service with good results?

Edit:  It's now been about a week since I first posted this.  The fact that this thread has been around a while and nobody has complained in it makes me feel the need to retract my statement.  BitcoinExchange isn't a mod, so he can't go delete comments in threads, so the fact that there haven't been any complaints over not just the past week but the whole life of this thread is very telling of a good business.  Also, as soon as I made this post doubting him, I got a PM from him where he was moderately upset that I had questioned his integrity, which makes me trust him a little more as well.  So I hereby formally retract my suspicions, and will probably use his services in the future.

tl;dr:  don't be a pussy, this guy seems legit

Please do not feed the trolls...
763  Economy / Economics / Re: What happens when Bitcoins are illegalized in the whole world? on: May 17, 2011, 06:13:26 PM
It doesn't matter if it's illegal.  It becomes illegal, then a IRC Tor channel complete with a trust system like OTC pops up, and people still trade with them.  You send me BTC, I send you Dwolla or Paypal, with a note saying "thanks for painting my house" or something, or hell, I just mail you a prepaid debit card.  The thing about Bitcoin is that it CAN'T be stopped, so it really just doesn't even matter if they try.
764  Economy / Marketplace / Re: Need Suggestions on Paypal Freezing Bitcoin Payments on: May 15, 2011, 01:41:07 PM
I *strongly* suggest you only trade with people you trust, or at least with people who have a positive bitcoin-otc rating.

Perhaps a dumb question, but: how do people get their first rating if nobody wants to trade with them?

Cheers,

You do a number of small trades with people who are willing to risk 1 BTC or 5-10 USD on a a newbie.  Setting up a Dwolla account FIRST and offering to use Dwolla for your first trades will also get you some trades and ratings much faster than offering up Paypal.

767  Economy / Marketplace / Re: New Windows Gadget for BTC on: May 14, 2011, 05:47:31 AM
I bought your gadget as well, and would like it updated for the new Mt Gox API.  Please let us know when it's finished!  Other than that little snafu, I really like it!
768  Economy / Marketplace / Re: How long does Dwolla->MtGox take? on: May 11, 2011, 08:53:08 PM
I emailed support and they explained that they still have to manually import Dwolla transactions into MtGox since Dwolla only provides a CSV file for transactions. The money is in my MtGox account now, they should probably just put a note on the 'add funds' page to explain that it might take a few hours to do.

I try to do this as soon as I see the email from dwolla ("you got funds"), except I also take train, go on meetings, sleep, etc

Thanks for all your help MagicalTux.  I didn't really realize until now that it is mostly just you running everything, so I truly apologize for my past impatience and e-mailing you and stuff.  I thought there were a few guys at least-- and in my normal dealings with website businesses, the only way I ever get a response is to e-mail all the different departments and hope one of them ever gets back to me.  But from now on, I will be much more patient now that I realize how much you're doing.  Thank you for all your hard work, and once more, I'm sorry for bothering you so much!!!!
769  Economy / Economics / Re: Will malicious investors abuse Bitcoin? on: May 11, 2011, 08:47:17 PM
I sold then re-bought 400 BTC yesterday... and each time I moved the market about 0.05.  It was fun to see.
770  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: BitDrop (or ShadyDeliveryNetwork), a non-robotic courier system on: May 11, 2011, 11:13:34 AM
I'm in Las Vegas, USA and might potentially be willing to be a courier/node in this if it gets off the ground.  My fee would be in the 4-5 BTC minimum range though.

I pay 10 BTC for a Greasemonkey or Firefox plugin that hides the ratings completely.

Here you go:
http://pastebin.com/XBiAVrJQ

At least in my Firefox, it freezes up without the following include/exclude

// @include        *://www.bitcoin.org/smf/*
// @exclude        *://www.bitcoin.org/smf/index.php?board*
// @exclude        *://www.bitcoin.org/smf/index.php
// @exclude        *://www.bitcoin.org/smf/
// @exclude        *://www.bitcoin.org/smf

But now it's wonderful.  Thank you for making that!

I didn't vote you down. I haven't voted at all. Did you vote me down?

No, but my first downvote happened very soon after your reply, so I thought it was you.  I actually don't even know how to vote on reputation around here...

I'm just looking to buy some USD Cake Poker money for my Bitcoins.  Only about $50 or so.  Please PM me or post here if interested.  I have a few OTC ratings:

Eventually I will want to do bigger trades, for Stars and Party Poker as well, but right now, I'm trying to start small and build up a network of people and trust around town here and on other forums.

Thanks guys!
