1  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: what is the future of the crazy ICO market? on: June 23, 2017, 01:12:26 AM
i skimmed through the "millionaire boy"'s story but i didn't see anything about any ICOs! it was a 200BTC easy money that fell in his lap and then he held it for a couple of years and make a lot of profit!

and the future of ICOs is very simple, it will be the same future as premined altcoins have. today you can no longer see any of them around, and soon we will get rid of this ICO method of scamming too.
it all started in 2016 when he bought tokens of 5 ICO projects, one helped him earn 40 times of profit and one earned 70 times.
2  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / what is the future of the crazy ICO market? on: June 22, 2017, 09:59:37 AM
“I woke up this morning, checked my wallet and realized that I am now a millionaire. Now what?”
A boy of his early 20s shared his story about investment in btc and ICOs. he also talked the ICO market in terms of regulation. Deng Di, president of China Blockchain Research Center warns people the the risk in the market.

3  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: segwit2X soon? on: June 22, 2017, 01:49:39 AM
https://coin.dance/blocks  76% blocks mined today support segwit2X
bitmain is raising an ICO to make sure they can buy enough hashrate to make sure a hard fork. But it seems that miners are supporting the compromise approach segwit2X now.

Yeah, looks like segwit2x is going to happen. Bitmain is also in favour of it, the hardfork idea was their plan B (if segwit2x fails and UASF gets traction).

What ICO are you referring to?? If you mean Giga Watt, that's a scam:

https://blog.bitmain.com/en/gigawatt-infringement-announcement/
Quote
We have never authorized and will not authorize Giga Watt as our official hosting facility or our service center in the USA. We have never supported and will not support Giga Watt’s ICO. We have never authorized and will not authorize Giga Watt to use our BITMAIN trademark in any circumstances. Mr. WU Jihan has never been and will not be a member of Giga Watt team.
By ICO, i mean Bitmain is supporting Viabtc to start an ICO to buy enough hashrate to make sure a hard fork.
4  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: litecoin reached over $56 on OKcoin on: June 22, 2017, 01:47:45 AM
Charlie twitted that Lightning network has been successfully tested on LTC. And there will be a meetup in Wuhan on July 2. It seems that Charlie is ready to rock the market.
5  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / litecoin reached over $56 on OKcoin on: June 21, 2017, 06:46:03 AM
ltc is definitely experiencing its shining moment. the price surged from 30 dollars to 56 dollars in 4 days. the spike is partly for Charlie's leaving from Coinbase and partly for bitstamp's listing ltc. But today the price dropped back to 46 USD. Is this just a one-time thing or it will sustain upward trend?

7  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: switching from btc to alts? Can altcoins sustain upward trend? on: June 19, 2017, 01:10:09 AM
Anyone who ignores alts as inferior is very shortsighted, and has missed a ton of profits. Likewise it would be silly to ignore bitcoin, though the faster they make changes to decrease fees and make it more scalable the better. None of these are good as currencies, except tether, because they are too volatile. I see them more as small cap stocks or commodities.. fixed supply with varying demand.
exactly, i'd like to swtich to ltc and eth for a while and when a fork occurs and the market decides a winner, i'll switch back to btc.
8  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / switching from btc to alts? Can altcoins sustain upward trend? on: June 16, 2017, 10:10:38 AM
Da Tou, literally "Big head", attended The Global Blockchain Conference of 2017 in Chengdu and shared his opinion about investment in cryptocurrencies. As eth's market cap reaches closer to btc, can it surpass btc? Or Eth will also be surpassed just like Nokia if it is not technically monopolistic.

9  Bitcoin / Wallet software / what is the most secure mobile wallet? on: June 15, 2017, 03:22:28 AM
If Jaxx is not save, then does that mean all the mobile wallets are insecure? Then where should i keep all my coins?
10  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / how one Bitcoin helps one family get through hard times in Philippines on: June 14, 2017, 10:21:49 AM
this is a real story about bitcoin withdrawal and how bitcoin matters a great deal in places where people suffer.  it must be truly desperate for someone to come to a stranger for help; but the thing is that being part of the cryptocurrency ecosystem, you should be ready for all kinds of losses, be they in forgetting your wallet password or ETH surpassing Bitcoin.

11  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why Core not make any compromise? on: June 11, 2017, 02:54:41 AM
Angry he's saying that he's not going to sway. Pretty obvious man. Btw, why would you want to go on a date with Taylor freaking Swift? Omg gross lol. Her squints eyes and terrible music are no match for anyone. She'll be Perma-single until she can find a male Helen Keller to love her.
Oh My, you hate Taylor or you are simply jealous of her? I think it's great that you believe in what you believe, and you would compromise, but why are you doing this? Who are you doing this for? I just don't think Core are representing the interests of miners?
12  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Why Core not make any compromise? on: June 11, 2017, 02:33:32 AM
I got the truth! It is because they are not able to date Taylor Swift!
Samson Mow: If the question is why can’t Core compromise and add a hard-fork into SegWit? That’s because a hard-fork requires everyone to upgrade simultaneously and Core cannot force people to do that. It’s an impossible compromise. It’s like me saying I’ll do something for you if you get me a date with Taylor Swift – you probably can’t do that.
Does this mean if Taylor dates him, he would compromise?

13  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / bitcoin miners in Sichuan province on: June 10, 2017, 06:44:37 AM
Kun, 29-year-old, is a management operator of a bitcoin mining site which is actually just a plant built near a hydropower station. After working for 24 hours nonstop, the 550 mining machines are able to mine 2.5 bitcoins per day. He would roast a whole lamb with other workers to celebrate when they buy new machines. But it also feels lonely.

14  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / The big three and the PBOC, is it a PR game? on: June 07, 2017, 06:08:28 AM
before the PBOC says the suspension of withdrawal was decided by the big three themselves, and now as btc withdrawal resumed, all are curious if the PBOC allowed them to do so.  OKcoin says they resumed btc withdrawal without the admission of the PBOC. But some insiders say it's like to do PR for the PBOC.

16  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Best Bitcoin Android apps and widgets on: June 06, 2017, 12:39:56 AM
Is Jaxx wallets easy to attack? Coz its private key is stored in cloud.  Or it is just for small amount of coins.
17  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / regulatory challenges facing bitcoin and smart contract on: June 05, 2017, 11:40:43 AM
Moving from the age of blockchain 1.0 to the age of blockchain 2.0, bitcoin will not be the only one facing regulatory regulations such as AML, smart contracts would have the same problem. Can smart contracts be regarded as commom contracts under Contract Law? If the answer is yes, then does the code belong to the legal form of expressing content contained in a contract? Can everyone involved have the ability to identify and understand the meaning of the code?  If “code is law”, how to make sure the party with technical advantages will not abuse its advantages?

18  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / China’s official newspaper People’s Daily says Bitcoin is digital gold on: June 03, 2017, 12:26:15 AM
Last Friday, China’s official newspaper People’s Daily released an article Bitcoin, a New Form of Digital Gold by Yang Wang. And in an interview, Yang says that after talking with people from the central bank, he believes that the government will define btc as commodity or futures. It is in conflict with the RMB system. And when the PBOC released its own digital currency, most cryptocurrencies would be obsoleted and bitcoin or blockchain startups will move to mobile payment.

19  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Mining pools shut down in China with no clear reasons on: June 02, 2017, 08:12:19 AM
I think they might have some issues with wet coal in the wet season too, because most of these coal are stored in the open and in the dry season the coal is dry and more efficient. Wet coal being less efficient will increase electricity prices in the wet season, so these miners might be going north to operate in an environment where there are no seasonal influences in the electricity prices.

It is all about efficiency, because cheaper electricity = more profits. ^smile^
Its just a common sense to think off on a certain company or group on this way.As long on where the business would be profitable they will surely make changes later on. They shut because they saw that they aren't making money and would need to move to another place.
then how come they refuse to be interviewed and say they expect regulations on mining pools? The timing is just so weird.
20  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Mining pools shut down in China with no clear reasons on: June 02, 2017, 02:32:51 AM
4.5 million kwh/month and pay us more than 1 million yuan per month

thats $0.033 per kwh.... not cheap i guess they decided to go up north and stay up north more long term instead of seasonal
Sichuan is now in wet season and the electricity price will only cost 50% of that of in dry season.
