1  Other / Off-topic / Re: Would you live in a Blockchain smart city? on: December 03, 2018, 11:14:40 AM
It seems that Canada is building one... or actually it is Google building it in Canada. Now some of the people working with setting the whole thing up have found that it is a smart city that is being built for surveillance rather than privacy. See: https://www.technocracy.news/googles-sidewalk-labs-smart-cities-for-dumb-humans/:
An interesting thing happened recently in the ongoing saga that is Google’s attempt, through its subsidiary Sidewalk Labs, to build a private, fully surveilled microcity inside of Toronto. The privacy expert Google had hired to assuage concerns over the dangers of a neighborhood built to collect data on its inhabitants, has stepped down.

A year into Google’s efforts to build a mini “smart city” on Toronto’s waterfront, Ann Cavoukian, the former privacy commissioner for the province of Ontario, announced that she was leaving her role as a consultant for the project. “I imagined us creating a Smart City of Privacy, as opposed to a Smart City of Surveillance,” she explained in a letter. “Your personal information, your privacy is critical,” Cavoukian has said. “It is not just a fundamental human right. It forms the foundation of our freedom.”

It’s commendable, this repudiation of Google on behalf of fundamental rights but also rather astounding if we’re being honest—and charitable—to imagine a privacy expert believing that Google had ever planned to build anything other than a smart city of surveillance. Cavoukian’s involvement in the Quayside project, named for the Toronto neighborhood where the proposed neighborhood will be built, had focused on the importance of masking the identity of people connected to the harvested data. “I felt I had no choice because I had been told by Sidewalk Labs that all of the data collected will be de-identified at source,” she said.

Cool

I think that's the sad and bitter part to this tech revolution. We are somehow exponentially improvising the tech but falling into tech slavery where nothing is private and anybody whenever they wish can control you. We've already seen this with China using mass citizen surveillance.
2  Other / Off-topic / Re: Are You Afraid To Die? on: December 03, 2018, 11:07:58 AM
I was just thinking back then, what if I die right now how the hell would it looked like? Although I keep saying that I'm not afraid but whenever I think of my wife I can't possibly die right now.

And whenever I think about my death i feel terrified for the reason I will be missing some moments here on Earth. Though its already impossible to live a Hundred years right now, I still want to see how this world change.
Am not Afraid but i feel terrified, silly isn't it?

How about you? Are you afraid on dying? Have you considered keeping yourself alive to see the future?

"People only dies when they've been forgotten".
-Dr. Hiluluk (One Piece)

If you re-read your post, you will understand that its not that you are afraid of 'death' in particular but about the loved ones left behind. I think it won't matter when one is dead already and this is a cycle (not unless we find immortality). I hope to live long enough to see this happen. Even if I can't avail the opportunity I would still want to see humans defeating death or conquering aging (however that happens).
3  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Should ICOs be regulated on: December 03, 2018, 11:02:19 AM
Considering the high level of scam associated with ICOs presently, many investors are at risk of loosing their investments. Bounty hunters like us are not spared as we may be rendering free services to some scammers and also risking our personal data.

I suppose a regulatory body be set up to audit the ICO process and the  founders, and if anything goes wrong or should the project fail, they will be liable. This will reduce drastically investors risk and also keep scammers away. What do you think?

Highly recommended. A lot of people believe that crypto must not be regulated as its against the concept. But, I think moderate, well-thought regulations will work in its favor. A lot of investors refrain from entering the market since they are afraid of losing their money to scams. Regulations will only boost the confidence and making someone liable for fraud will be the first step to make this happen.
4  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Emanate Has the potential to become a BIG Music Blockchain on: December 03, 2018, 10:58:15 AM
I think this is where we go wrong. Just because a project is appealing we must not fall for it immediately. This is one reason how scams are so successful. We must wait and patiently monitor the growth. If the project is genuine, it will eventually find its track and progress.
5  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What do you think the market needs to get back on track?! on: December 03, 2018, 10:54:25 AM
Many ico that are already on the market will not survive this natural selection remains the strongest. Then when the market becomes stable and even grows, we can see other promising projects. There will be less unnecessary projects.

You think its also because the investors are getting smarter and able to understand the rules and tricks of the market?
You think we will still need regulations (like EU suggests) to stop scam projects from looting the investors? I need to understand how regulations will/will not be helpful.

Thanks
6  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Best cryptocurrency investment for year ahed on: November 30, 2018, 02:58:23 PM
I don't think even the most experienced investors would wish to predict right now. The market has gone totally against the predictions lately. I would suggest you wait a little to let the market take some shape and maybe it will be clear how to proceed for year ahead.
I am on hodl with everything presently, no more fresh investments for me.
7  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Future of crypto currencies on: November 30, 2018, 02:55:10 PM
Governments are not totally against crypto, we have seen this off late with EU and other countries coming forward with their own way of dealing with crypto. The investor ratios are improving, which is a good sign and something we shouldn't ignore. A good investor base is needed to build pressure on the nations. However, they need to put rules and regulations and this is where the actual conflict is. If we do not agree, the governments will always be reluctant to accept crypto. The need is for some full proof decentralized ICOs with some really fantastic products and services. I am just hoping that some plan is devised to achieve this and everything will be good.
8  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: The problem of Cyrpto`s survival on: November 30, 2018, 02:49:01 PM
Its OK to be apprehensive but I don't agree that new coins will all die and not survive. Also, I have no issues with a centralized project if its good. We need to be a little less over ambitious at present. The best way forward is to gain acceptance from governments and industries. Its happening, we can't say nations are ignoring it totally but its slow and ofcourse with some moderation. EU plans to devise some mechanism to regularize crypto for investor benefit and may be this is a good sign.

We can be rigid and lose it all or we can be a little relaxed and let it flourish first. The rules can be amended later as per requirement. (I don't expect a lot of people to agree with me but this is just an honest view for crypto's success)
9  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Virie-the cryptocurrency of the future? on: November 30, 2018, 02:42:09 PM
I came across this website called Virternity https://virternity.com/virternity which is apparently a project meant to create a virtual world in the future. Read their roadmap and #5 caught my attention. They are now introducing their cryptocurrency called Virie. A quote said "This currency will have real, inherent value (ie,easily exchanged for goods and services). More importantly, it will enable the seamless unification of the material and virtual worlds.
Is this the cryptocurrency of the future? What do you think?

If you go by the frequency with which science is upgrading itself and understand the logic, virtual life doesn't seem impossible. We can very much achieve it (the complexities are way too multiplexed) and thus we need a currency to let this structure thrive. A lot of people argue why would a virtual world need currency? Valid question but we need to keep in mind that even a virtual world would need resources and some economic structure to let people relish these resources.

I have been reading a lot about Virie on various platforms and even check their FAQ's, it looks fascinating if all that it claims is really true. A peer-to-peer exchange and decentralized environment are the key features. I am waiting to hear more on this currency hoping that it will change the perception of investors.
10  Other / Off-topic / Will you outweigh the positives of VR platform over negatives? on: November 29, 2018, 11:30:45 AM
Virtual reality is fast becoming a major part of our lives. But the health risks associated with this technology have yet to be resolved.
Virtual reality has been in existence for decades and its impact has been thwarted in the past because of potential health and safety issues.
It’s said that those who don’t learn from history are condemned to repeat it.

It’s known that these short-term adaptation pressures can cause headaches and sore eyes in users and potentially make it harder for someone to concentrate on a visual task (such as reading a book). The long term consequences are simply unknown.

These problems were first identified over two decades ago but a suitable solution is still to be found.

But VR is spreading its wings rapidly in mainstream industries and the potential is immense.
You think with time and better, lighter gears and a good understanding of the tech, we will be able to solve health related issues?

Will you give it a chance?
11  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What is the Best consensus in your opinion? POW, DPOW or POS? on: November 29, 2018, 11:20:12 AM
As the title, we are talking about the popular consensus - as I know now that includes  POW, DPOW and POS. So what is the Best consensus in your opinion?
I my idea:
- POW: Consume much electric energy of our world => unnecessary wastage.
- DPOS: Does not consume much energy but quite centralized (There are some validators)
- POS: Does not consume much energy + More decentralized.
Have I understood right?
For me, the most reliable protocol is Fiat cash. Decentralization is the same myth as democracy. Although of course there are huge advantages for the blockchain, one cannot argue here. Of all the protocols, the most reliable POW. The rest is just not good enough.

But the actual strength of blockchain would come with decentralization, don't you think? What is the point if the blockchain is still controlled? (just trying to understand)
12  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Your thoughts on blockchain being taught in school on: November 29, 2018, 11:16:14 AM
A lot of people who do not truly understand Blockchain link it with Crypto market and think this is the only industry where it could be implemented.
Its a good attempt to understand the technicalities since blockchain is definitely the future of network strengthening. Mainstream industries will definitely capitalize on this specially where the market is spread across various parts of the world and the data needs to be channelized securely.
13  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Cryptocurrency Projects: More Than a Coin on: November 28, 2018, 01:06:33 PM
In this days I am thinking about this: the only way to raise of cryptocurrency is creating some projects which are not only a coin. I believe that solving a problem with blockchain technology is the future of crypto. There are tons of problem on internet, privacy issues, security problems and more.

Do you think which projects are promising for implementing to our daily life or really solving a problem?
Which projects will help to save the reputation of Bitcoin?

It indeed is and a lot of thought is diverting towards its implementation. Humancoin, Akropolis are few of the revolutionary yet problem solving ICO while there are also some futuristic ICO like Virie that propose Decentralized Blockchain as the foundation.
Some pretty interesting features make them unique. I hope we find an increase in such promising projects over time.
14  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Sharing for those who are curious about Virie on: November 28, 2018, 12:58:20 PM
Guys, I have been seeing quite a number of posts here asking about Virie so I researched in Google by typing Virie and this came out so I checked it and the blogs lately seem to all being related to Virie. Just click the "more" button then the "blog" button and you will be redirected to the blogs page.
https://www.annerainwater.net/
Some may be interested in this Virie and some may be skeptical which is okay but for those who do, I do hope that you are not always suspicious when a post about it comes out. Like this one. I'm genuinely curious about it. I had a bit of time to do a little research about it and found this and just wanted to share it. I don't think there's anything wrong with that, right?

So far I know this project proposes that Virie is a decentralized online service that operates on a peer-to-peer basis (its based on ESCROW). There is, therefore, no potential for its administration and moderation by third parties; it is designed using blockchain technology so that Users may enter information into the Virie Blockchain using Virie Tokens.

I found more information here.
https://www.decentpropaganda.com/virternitys-distributed-exchange-network-could-put-crypto-exchanges-out-of-business/

Still, its a relatively new project and I have my apprehensions so would like to see how it unfolds.
15  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Supporting new projects can lead to a better future. on: November 28, 2018, 12:49:35 PM
In a society that faces psychological pressure, depression and anxiety.. I think that humans should leave aside the selfishness and lower the urge to make profit out anything and start supporting projects that can increase their overall well-being. I think we all wish a better future for our children. Don't you?
Are you currently investing in any project? What's that about?

The thought is fair but the market doesn't work on this principle sadly. People are driven by profit, this is what makes the market grow and vulnerable both.
We want it to flourish by giving it a free hand but everything isn't fair where there is freedom. People use it for their selfish benefits and the remaining bear the cost.
Not that you must let down your faith in the market, its still pretty much establishing but one must be extra cautious. While you may like some new projects (like Virie, I am following it) because you like the whitepaper or the project itself but you must still be careful and be diligent about your research.
Blindly supporting projects is what makes us lose our valued possessions and repent.
16  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Do you support the idea that ICO's are killing the crypto market? on: November 27, 2018, 12:59:42 PM
I don't think we can generalize this. There have been some good ICOs too. Its just that with crypto spreading its reach, people who want to make swift money is increasing and thus we see an increase in scam ICOs.
This could be dealt with, if we are through with our research and invest carefully without being fooled.
17  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: Centralized and Decentralized exchanges? Which one do you prefer? on: November 27, 2018, 12:56:23 PM
Decentralized exchanges outweigh the pros over centralized with respect to Crypto market design and vision.
They make the investors an owner of their money in true sense.
Came across a new distributed exchange sometime back, still awaiting to hear more on this but the features look amazing presently.
You may want to take a look : https://virternity.com/virie
18  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: 1BTC or look elsewhere? on: November 27, 2018, 12:50:54 PM
It depends on how much you trust the market and how well you understand it. If you think, you can speculate the timings to buy and hodl, I would say go ahead but still will advice to not put it all in one place. Not at the moment.
19  Other / Off-topic / Decentralization eliminates disinformation on: November 26, 2018, 12:44:35 PM
https://virternity.com/news/decentralization_eliminates_disinformation

With deep fakes and news becoming increasingly realistic, do you think we will ever be able to come up with a solution?
If the bad is advancing so is the tech and we may one day be able to find a solution these miscreants. What do you think?
20  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Will cyptocurrency never be great again as it was? on: November 26, 2018, 12:33:28 PM
People need to understand the basics of evolution and a little bit of science to interpret how the future will be. I don't think there is a space for doubt over crypto being the future of exchange. The current system won't like it and the ones who control systems will try their best to spread negativity. The investors need to speculate what suits them more and which looks promising.

The slump is just a phase, every market has its fair share of rough patches. We must not overhype and push it down.
