is there an estimated release date for this mobo?

Well apparently the demo model at Computex burned up day 1 with 8 cards on it, so don't hold your breath  Roll Eyes

Can someone confirm that those 7 6-pin connectors are the only power inputs?

7 x 75w = only 525 watts?

They must be using a thicker wire to increase the capacity of the 6 pin connectors. But the 8-pin connectors have the additional ground for a good reason...

That's a custom bios that someone had created and was cute and added the "cryptocurrency mining" tag. I've had problems that bios. Use the one from the MSI site.

I just check their site, and it does look like they added an updated bios in May!

All I know is what I said earlier will work with the bios from december
44  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Caution! Pandaminers catching fire! on: June 02, 2017, 06:15:19 PM
Trying to pull over 100w through a 6-pin is going to melt it eventually, I would not be surprised if many of them started to reach their limits around the same time. But the B1s have been out for awhile, so I'd expect to see a lot more complaints about this. I do recall seeing this happen to at least one other person maybe a month or more ago, not sure if it was a b1 or b3 though...
45  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Caution! Pandaminers catching fire! on: June 02, 2017, 06:03:25 PM
I feel like all of those ports should be 8-pin, no?

If each of those ports are suppose to power a single card I'd expect to see melting connections...

edit: it looks like you have the B1s? Does that mean each of those power connections is suppose to power a 480? If so, then Pandaminer just built a time bomb  Shocked
46  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: [Mining OS] SimpleMining.net - Easy to use GPU MINING Operating System on: June 02, 2017, 03:14:18 PM
I'm having an issue with two of my rigs at the moment. They start to boot in to smOS, I get the usual text scrolling by quickly, then it pauses for a moment as it says, "gpu posting now" then I get this output:

sometimes I get to the third "gpu posting now" message before I receive this output. Other times the screen goes black before I see even the first.

specs:
MSI z170a Gaming M5
7x MSI Armor 570
Intel G4500
Crucial 4/8Ggb

I don't want to keep reposting but i'm at a loss, anyone have any ideas or seen this before?

EDIT: after more troubleshooting, the hole gets deeper.... The text above I only receive when using multiple GPUs. When I plug in one GPU I get one ofthree things: black screen, boots to BIOS only, or it works fine and starts mining.

Now I've done just about every combination of PCIE slot + GPU and have got every PCIE slot and GPU combo to work at one point or another, so I do not believe any of the GPUs/risers/slots are bad.

Looking to purchase a pandaminer to toy around with. Willing to pay a small premium.
48  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: mining with msi z170A Gaming M5 on: June 02, 2017, 03:01:57 PM
You can.

Make sure you have bios version 1.D0 from 12/16/16

in bios settings change 4G decoding to enabled

and change integrated graphics configuration from PEG to IGD

And plug your monitor into the onboard graphics.

Also, please do not ask obvious questions in a new topic. This solution appears in at least 3 threads within the first two pages of topics.

edit: oh, and use a skylake (not kaby lake) processor
49  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: The best rig operating system. ethOS vs. Windows vs. Linux vs. MS-DOS? on: June 01, 2017, 10:56:42 PM
Windows requires more setting up initially, you have to disable updates, sleep settings, anti-virus, etc....

It also requires a larger ssd

but it is "free", has a gui i'm sure you already know, applications you may have already used like afterburner or gpu-z

If you have only a rig or two, it is the way I would go.

The cost of SSDs, the setting up, etc. is a pain if you have many rigs.

Once you're over maybe 3-8 rigs, I'd personally switch to smOS (linux based). It costs $2/month per rig right now but requires less setup and can manage many rigs remotely.

What do you mean by "(only 6x OC)" for the z170/z270 boards? Can this OS support 7 cards with those boards?

and you say usb key only....does that mean an M.2 drive will not work? what size ssd is required?

edit: removed lazy question

I had a similar issue with z170 there is a differrent version specifically made for it.

go to: https://simplemining.net/download/

download following images:

I think the second one worked for me, but you should try them both. They are specifically design for z170. good luck.

Edit: I am assuming you have already updated bios for z170a and also enabled 4g decoding?

I got this for awhile with the normal RX smOS images but after a reboot -- screen goes blank....

It is a older Z170 board and currently downloading the above images and try again.

Anyone knows which motherboard did Tytanick tested smOS on for the Z170 images above?

Tytanick has not tested a z170 board himself. The instructions he gave come from user @soothaa earlier in the thread. Soothaa used the same M5 board you've pictured, a friend of mine also has the M5 board running 7 GPUs in smOS.

I just recently fired up a rig of 1070s using this program, and the miner is great. I am just having trouble getting my cards to hash over 400sol/s. Changing the memory clock has very little/no effect on speed. The best I can do right now is ~390 with TDP set at 80%, but I've read others here achieving over 450  Huh

Does anyone have any insight? My nvidia mining experience is pretty much nil.

I can't imagine some1 get less then 430 even on stock 1070.
What cards do u using?
I have Gigabyte windforce OC and msi armor, 5 with micron and 1 with Samsung memory. Cores +80, mem + 550 and that is results

http://imgur.com/a/4aIZZ

The cards are all Zotac Minis with Micron Memory. Right now I'm running them at +75% voltage, 80% TDP, +200 core, -250 mem and getting about 385. If I push the mem a lot, I can squeeze out ~395, With TDP set to 100%, The highest I can get is ~415.

I'm running win10, and using afterburner to clock, and GPU-Z to verify the clocks.

Default clocks on Zotac 1070s are lower than most; so you want to use a positive memory clock OC.  Start with +450 then walk up to +900 if they can handle it.

I got the memory clock as high as +700 before I started to have issues. The difference between -200 and +700 was only about 10sol/s at best, so I just left it low to lower power draw.

Depends on your setup. If you just have a hobby rig or two, its nbd. But if you have more than that/are battling heat already, you'll be pushing the fans on the minis pretty hard all the time. I've noticed some mini cards I have using about 20% more fan speed compared to their larger counterparts. I've never used any of the really mini cards with a single fan.

If someone could inform me about escrow on here, sure. But I've never sold through the forum before, so please excuse my ignorance.
