1  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What would you do if you were new to Bitcoin and given £10 Bitcoin For Free on: June 02, 2021, 12:51:07 PM
Well, i guess if i was given bitcoin without even the slightest knowledge of what it is, i would first conduct some research, and extract some sense out of it. Though truth be told when youre new to cryptocurrency it really is complicated. The wallets, the exchanges, and the price fluctuations are too many to handle. I would need a friend who is an expert on this field, and possibly ask to teach me the dos and dont's of crypto. Without someone that would teach me, i would end up selling the bitcoin in a lower price. Worse case, i could be vulnerable to phishing sites and scams.
2  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Investing in bitcoins for future kids on: June 02, 2021, 12:38:21 PM
Why not? you can invest in bitcoin for your kids future, but you should know your limits. It is important to know when and at what point you should stop. Invest in a certain amount, meaning that you shouldnt go "all in". The world of cryptocurrency is a pretty unstable and high risk investment as it continues to increase and decrease in price. If you invest all of your money on it there's no guarantee that you'll receive a lot of gains. Well this depends on your patience. I have observed that bitcoin takes a lot of time before it spikes up in price. Another advice is to not solely depend on bitcoin as your means to earn money. Just treat it as a sideline while youre working to earn money.
3  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Which Cryptocurrency will rise in future? on: June 02, 2021, 12:32:32 PM
There are too many to count, and some have pretty good uses, but none of them (in my opinion) would topple down bitcoin and ethereum. The only cryptocurrencies that I can think of is Cardano, Polkadot, and of course BNB. We can see how much of these cryptocurrencies contribute to the market. Cardano with it's much better proof of stake than ETH. Polkadot with its relay chain that allows the interoperability of varying networks. Lastly, BNB which is a utility cryptocurrency that operates as a payment method for the fees associated with trading on the Binance Exchange. All of them are good cryptocurrencies that have the potential to rise in the future.
4  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: BTC is Going to "DEAD....!" Need Discussion..... on: May 30, 2021, 10:14:01 AM
I'm pretty confident that BTC wont drop down in price to the point that we'll spend thousands of BTC just for a "single pizza". Analyze the situation carefully OP. The market is influenced by supply and demand, in each passing year BTC is gaining more and more popularity from people across the globe. Even popular people are now acknowledging its value, take Elon Musk as an example. BTC currently exceeded 20k, it was recently priced at 50k. Of course it wouldnt stay that way, as it is unstable. Now it is back to 30k but atleast it hasnt dropped down drastically.
5  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: I lost all my crypto gains this not fair! on: May 30, 2021, 01:28:53 AM
That's why people always say that involving yourself in crypto, one should be knowledgeable of the risks that comes along with it. Cryptocurrency is unstable and it does fluctuate ever so often. One moment ETH is at 3000 dollars, after several days it drops down to 2500 dollars. It is perfectly normal and recoverable, you just have to be patient. One technique is to buy during the dip and hold until the price peaks. Some people panic sell their crypto when they see that the price keeps decreasing, dont do that. Not only will you lose so much of what you invest, you'll also influence the market.
6  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: 🕵️‍♂️Student Coin Team are Scammers in Disguise, Refused Paying Hunters Reward on: May 25, 2021, 07:19:41 AM
Be careful of this project. I've heard many complaints regarding this. Some have lost a huge amount of their investment caused by some missing assets during the transaction, STC support was useless saying that they can't do anything about it. And now this issue with the bounty hunters. STC didnt follow the fixed amount of rewards stated on their project. They changed the payment from STC to ETH, delayed the distribution, and then giving just a very.. very low pay to the bounty hunters. Calling the bounty hunters useless and such. They couldve just sticked with advertising the project themselves. Dissapointing and clearly unprofessional

8  Economy / Economics / Re: I think Bitcoin is the biggest bubble and ponzi in the universe or it isn't? on: April 15, 2021, 12:21:12 PM
Bitcoin does drastically increase in price, in just a few years bitcoin has went to 60,000 in value. In those years, the price was quite unstable, and indeed there were big dips in the past. For me, Bitcoin is not a bubble and a ponzi scheme. First of all, it depends on your perspective whether you think it is a bubble or not, it really doesnt matter. Bitcoin has brought huge gains to investors, but it is true that investing comes with risks that you should take into account. It doesnt always go uphill. Second, a ponzi scheme is centralized, while bitcoin is decentralized.
9  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Love the bad news on: April 15, 2021, 12:05:01 PM
"Cryptocurrency exchanges come and go, and it's almost inevitable that an exchange will get hacked at one point or another. While cryptocurrencies themselves are very secure, exchanges can be affected by a variety of vulnerabilities, making them a prime target for malicious actors. State of the industry – February 2020: As it stands, 2019 saw a record number of twelve crypto exchanges being hacked. That being said, across the board the amounts of crypto stolen were worth less. In total, $292,665,886 worth of cryptocurrency and 510,000 user logins were stolen from crypto exchanges in 2019." -selfkey website

An exchange hack will affect the price, it all depends on what the hacker will do with all the coins that he/she has stolen. Nonetheless, the bear market is a perfect opportunity to buy some coins, specifically bitcoin and ethereum.
10  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Is Ethereum going to Die? on: April 15, 2021, 10:56:05 AM
I dont think ethereum would die. It's an essential tool for most projects to create their very own tokens. They are used to create decentralized businesses which are not in existence before. Though the fees are insane, this wont stop traders/investors from using Ethereum's platform because there is no other tool that can provide the same services. Proof? You can see it for yourself in this forum. Majority of projects are ERC-20 tokens which is the technical standard used for all smart contracts on the Ethereum blockchain for token implementation.
11  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin price fall to Zero? Possible or not? on: April 14, 2021, 12:24:44 PM
Here are some scenerios that can cause the price of btc to fall drastically. (In my opinion, it is highly unlikely and the possibility very slim).
(1) No way to trade bitcoin or exchange it for goods and services.
(2) All governments of the world placing a ban on bitcoin and bitcoin related activities making it highly illegal.
(3) The entire bitcoin network and nodes going offline making it impossible to even make underground transactions in bitcoin.
(4) Another crypto overtaking bitcoin and value and more people shifting investment to this new crypto.

source

This is pretty much all the reasons, if ever bitcoin's price drops to zero. Though it is impossible for it to happen. I just dont see another coin overtaking bitcoin nor for all the networks to suddenly go offline. If bitcoin's price fall to 5k, I'll still HODL. It always does that, then eventually rising up in a few years. However if it reaches 100 dollars, that's when i'll be worried. Maybe I'll panic and sell all my bitcoin so that I wouldnt have to waste any, just in case it reaches zero.
12  Economy / Economics / Re: what will happens if everyone has own currency, doesn't a bad for Economics ? on: April 14, 2021, 12:14:16 PM
In my opinion, it is impossible for everyone to have their own currency. Currency is a medium of exchange for goods and services. In short, it's money, in the form of paper or coins, usually issued by a government and generally accepted at its face value as a method of payment. It should have value in order for you to use it in purchasing services and goods. For your coin to have value it must be recognized by the public. In cryptocurrency this will increase it's value through high demand. What does your coin do? What sets it apart from other coins?
13  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: See why most bounty hunters get scammed on: April 14, 2021, 11:59:51 AM
That's got to be the best April Fools post that I have ever seen, though it's sad that there are many bounty hunters who have applied for the campaign, without realizing that it was a joke all along. This just goes to show that they don't take the time to check every little detail on the post. It's obvious that they havent clicked the links provided by vacsino. I guess this is an important lesson for all the bounty hunters out there to conduct a thorough research on a project before joining. You'll be wasting your time if you get scammed.
14  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: “Bitcoin is the laughing stock of our firm” on: April 13, 2021, 02:33:00 PM
The idea of bitcoin is absurd for them, they think that it will never work nor gain value. Several years to the present and I think all of us will agree that bitcoin has drastically gained value as well as popularity. People are beginning to recognize bitcoin for what it is, a decentralized coin that can be used by anyone as long as they have access to the digital platform. I guess people like that are skeptical of bitcoin because of its volatility, unlike Fiat which is stable and highly accessible to the public.
15  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Everything you wanted to know about Grayscale BTC Trust but were afraid to ask! on: April 13, 2021, 02:25:59 PM
A very detailed post on grayscale. I was curious at first, simce they claim to be the first investment vehicle of its kind to report financials regularly to the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC). The Grayscale Bitcoin Trust offers investors the opportunity to gain exposure to the leading cryptocurrency via an open-ended private trust that holds in excess of 649,130 BTC as of Feb 2021 – equating to almost 3.1% of bitcoin’s current circulating supply. GBTC stock has posted gains far in excess of the S&P 500's in 2020. However, it is now well off its highs for the year. Investors should study the stock market and wait for it to pass its latest buy point.
16  Economy / Economics / Re: Out of Reach on: April 13, 2021, 02:10:08 PM
Small investors such as myself find it hard to purchase bitcoin during a bull market. Yes, everyone here aspires to acquire atleast 1 bitcoin. It was attainable then since the price is only at a thousand dollars, but with the current price which is at 50k atleast, acquiring 1 bitcoin will be difficult, especially for those that are not so wealthy. However, those that have HODL bitcoin from the very start, those of which who have purchased it at a low price will definitely gain more than what they have given.
17  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Avoid been carried away, it's never going to be bullish forever on: April 12, 2021, 01:33:04 PM
Like an uphill climb, you'll eventually have to go down. Im quite a skeptic so I truly believe that bitcoin will dip again anytime soon, but that doesnt mean that it will continue to decrease in value, there will come a time that it will eventually increase in price again, though it would take some time. For the holders of bitcoin, it's up for you to decide, afterall the world of cryptocurrencies revolves around flactuations and patience.
18  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Newcomers, Moonboys and Fools on: April 12, 2021, 01:25:27 PM
Very well-said. Since crypto is gaining more popularity, newbies are flooding the forum. It's good that they are asking questions, and it's up to the veterans to guide them on what are the dos and don'ts of investing. That's why bitcointalk exists, to discuss the current market and to answer the question of those that lack knowledge in Cryptocurrencies. It is true that there are people who always say "to the moon", dont always believe and throw allyour money into some shitcoin because someone said so, it is important to conduct your own through research
19  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Dont stay in crypto too long on: April 11, 2021, 12:59:14 PM
It is possible that at some point crypto would somehow be regulated by the government "if" crypto reaches mass adaption, to the point where Fiat money becomes useless. But i dont see it happening anytime soon, it would take several years before that happens, for now i'm not quitting crypto just because of this speculation. It's too early to say this kinds of stuff. Yes, the government is taking notice of cryptocurrency, but with the minority of its users I dont see any kind of action that the government is starting to "control" crypto.
20  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Anonymous a red flag? on: April 11, 2021, 12:28:59 PM
Yes, of course it is a red flag, especially when it requires money to fund their project. Anonymity of the developers sounds sketchy, certainly anyone in this group would like to be provided with full details regarding the project before they start investing. Letting the investors know of the developers identities builds trust between the two. It gives a certain level of "security" so that anyone wouldnt be afraid of investing, and in the case of a scam atleast people know who are those developers.
