301  Economy / Goods / Re: Resin Bitcoins SOLD OUT!! :D on: August 15, 2011, 12:58:10 AM
Am I correct in saying that the OP is no longer accepting orders? I really want a couple o' these coins.

Can any of the owners post and let me know the properties of the resin. Does it have a nice weight to it? Or does it feel like plastic? Will it melt easily? That sort of info I would appreciate.

I'll sell the very first coin produced, the resin encased model which is numbered 1 of 10, for 2 BTC.
302  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: IxCoin is a SCAM on: August 12, 2011, 05:35:16 PM
Someone let me know when IxCoins get too difficult to mine, and I'll create IIxCoins, which payout 500 IIxCoins per block!

I've talked plenty of trash on NameCoins in my day, but at least they do something more novel than trying to somehow let me get get more coins, and expecting the value to eclipse BTC.
303  Economy / Collectibles / Re: 1 gram .999 fine silver "bitcoin" rounds on: August 11, 2011, 10:10:32 PM
this does not mean batch 1 were in error rather they were a Mark 1 , with a run of 1000 , with the next being Mark 2 , run?.........

I don't care if it's an error or not.  I actually think it's a good thing that I can now prove I have a batch from the first 1000!

305  Economy / Goods / Re: [WTS] 2001 Silver American Eagle - Twin Towers Screen Printed Collectable on: August 11, 2011, 03:18:16 AM
Like I said, I don't care about all that, but maybe someone else will.  Please don't act like I'm trying to pull something.  Even the review on the amazon page says it's way overpriced.  I'll make things simple.  Offer retracted.
306  Economy / Goods / Re: [WTS] 2001 Silver American Eagle - Twin Towers Screen Printed Collectable on: August 11, 2011, 03:07:07 AM
I wasn't trying to just pay 1 oz at the spot rate.  I know coins don't sell like that.  I guess more specifically, I'm willing to pay the normal premium on top of spot for an American Eagle, which is like $44 now:

http://www.apmex.com/Category/160/Silver_Eagles___Uncirculated_2011__Prior.aspx

So I guess my offer is 4.5 BTC with shipping included.

I personally don't have any interest in the additional premium for the artwork.  But hopefully you'll find someone who is and will pay more than I want to.
307  Economy / Goods / Re: [WTS] 2001 Silver American Eagle - Twin Towers Screen Printed Collectable on: August 11, 2011, 01:09:34 AM
I'm interested in paying the bullion-only price if you can't find someone who wants it at the collectable rate.
308  Economy / Currency exchange / Re: Buying 50 BTC, $13 per coin on: August 10, 2011, 11:40:15 PM
I'm the owner and operator of mybitsafe.com.  I didn't have the dns configured for www.mybitsafe.com, so the site only worked if you went to mybitsafe.com.  The problem has been corrected and both urls will work now.

I don't really appreciate being called a scammer, or my website being called unknown.  Plenty of people have used the site and there haven't been any incidents yet.  I personally have both bought and sold $1000's of dollars worth of goods with bitcoins, with dozens of other bitcoiners, without any problems on any of my deals.

I'm not in cahoots with beginningbitcoin, I don't even know the guy.

I should note that for a deal like this, it really only protects the person with the paypal.  Paypal deals can be reversed up to 180 days after the transaction is complete.  Please note I'm not saying this to cast aspersions at beginningbitcoin, I'm just pointing out a general knowon issue with paypal.
309  Economy / Marketplace / Re: Safe to accept PayPal if payment is gifted? on: August 10, 2011, 12:59:38 AM
An honest person can't reverse a gift transaction.  But a scammer will just blame TEH EVIL BITCOIN HACKERZ and paypal will reverse the charge.
310  Economy / Goods / Re: [WTS] Silver Certficate and Legal Tender on: August 09, 2011, 09:12:47 PM
Okay, those are normally just called silver pandas.  How much do you want for it?
311  Economy / Goods / Re: [WTS] Silver Certficate and Legal Tender on: August 09, 2011, 08:59:28 PM

Also have coins that are rated sealed,  Morgan Dollar Coins , Japaneses yen coins , year of the panada.

Could you be more specific about what the "year of the panada" coin is?  Thanks.
312  Economy / Goods / Re: [wts] Mystery Items on: August 09, 2011, 06:21:44 PM
If anyone is interested in what was in the envelopes or box, PM me or post here and I'll let you know as best I can remember.

I was just trying to keep the mystery alive...

I got two postcards, a postcard sized piece of black cardboard with a peacock design cut out of the card, and a limited edition Asian Pendant from The San Diego Zoo.
313  Economy / Goods / Re: Jetbeam RRT-0 S2 Flashlights (w/AA extender) on: August 08, 2011, 11:53:49 PM
My order just showed up today.  Nice quality flashlight.  Quick service.  No hassles.
314  Economy / Goods / Re: Bitcoin Rings - continued on: August 08, 2011, 05:49:37 PM
I just got my sterling silver ring.  It's nice.  I'm wearing it right now.

It was an adventure.  I sent goebot the bitcoins in advance.  He was going to ship directly to my house, but shapeways wouldn't let him do that because they thought he was trying to dodge VAT tax.  So he had to get it sent to his house, and then ship it to me.

Even though it took a while for reasons out of goebot's control, he kept me informed of the status the entire time.  I always felt fine about sending the bitcoins in advance, and never doubted that I would get the ring.  He's earned my trust.
315  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Best escrow service on: August 08, 2011, 01:17:03 AM
I offer a donation-based clearcoin style service.  The rate on most deals is 0.025 BTC.  I'm pretty active on #bitcoin-otc, both chatting there and making numerous deals with other people:

http://www.bitcoin-otc.com/viewratingdetail.php?nick=kgo&sign=ANY&type=RECV

I've also traded with several people here, if anyone wants to vouch for me.

My real name and place of employment are tied to my gpg key, which I've used publically for well over a year, and also listed on the website.

The site is hosted on amazon EC2.  Regular backups of both the wallet and the db are regularly generated, encrypted, and shipped off site.  I've also got a prepared and imaged AMI of the site.  Without getting into the details of how Amazon EC2 works, this means if the server dies I can spin up a new one in a matter of minutes.

So far we've had a little over 200 BTC shipped through the site without incident.

If there's any more information I can provide to help you trust both myself, and my service, please let me know.
316  Economy / Collectibles / Re: 1 gram .999 fine silver "bitcoin" rounds on: August 07, 2011, 08:07:47 PM
These are cool little items.  I wouldn't mind having a few for souvenirs or to use as party favors or put in Christmas stockings.  But as an investment?  Probably not, at least not in any great quantity. This is why.

The coins are 1 gram silver, costing 1.5 GPB each.  So I did a bit of calculating to come up with the price in dollars per ounce, which are the most common units cited in commodity pricing....

1 gm * 28.35 (conversion to ounces) = 28.35 oz
28.35 * 1.5 GPB = 42.525 GBP per oz
42.525 * 1.639 (conversion to USD) = 69.7 USD/oz

Today's commodity price for silver of this quality is just under $39 US per ounce.  Coins do cost a bit more than the commodity price for a precious metal.  However, American Eagle 1 oz silver coins were just over $43.00 apiece on Friday.  I didn't find any other commodity silver coins available for purchase, but for comparison, the gold commodity price was at $1,649/oz this morning.  1 oz Krugerrands were running from 1,680 to 1,750 apiece, with Canadian Maple Leaf and American Eagle 1 oz gold coins priced similarly.

Purely from the standpoint of an investment in precious metals, the $43 silver American Eagles are worth exactly the same amount as between 28 and 29 1 gram bitcoins costing around $70.   Only you can decide if the coolness factor is worth paying the premium, of course. :-)  But I recommend keeping in mind that, if the 1 gm silver bitcoin is considered as an investment, it is an investment in something akin to artwork or jewelry.  The metal value alone (as with jewelry) isn't worth the price.

This has been discussed a few times in the thread already.  I won't get into whether they are a good or bad investment.  But the price and premium is comparable to other 1 gram bars and rounds if you search around.  You're paying the premium for the size, not for the bitcoin artwork.  You get that for free!

P.S. Just an FYI, coins silver is weighed in troy ounces, so there are 31.1 grams in an ASE or Maple Leaf.  Worth knowing if you invest in precious metals.
317  Other / Archival / Re: delete on: August 06, 2011, 09:12:10 PM
BTC was bound to drop below $10. Assuming it would keep its price while it was so high was ridiculous. However, expecting it to drop below $1 is ridiculous as well. If it did, it would be due to a hacker dumping coins.

I don't think it'll go down to $1, but is was trading at that as little as 4 months ago, so I don't think it's totally ridiculous to think it could go that low again.

I just got my mystery envelope.  I particularly liked that one thing!  It was awesome!

If he's not incorporated, he can be sued for his personal assets and cash by anyone and everyone who lost bitcoins from this.  I encourage people to take this route once more of his information is revealed, and if he does not fully reimburse every single person who used the service.
MyBitcoin is Limited Liability Company, i.e. owners don't take any liability for company's debts. In this case maximum you can get suing them is corporation's assets.

Their website says they're an LLC, but has anyone seen the paperwork?  I'm guessing no, since if they had there would probably be a way to track down the owner(s).
