Was müsste man denn als Sockenpuppe eintragen?
Jeder "1=2"? Wink

Update;

https://github.com/zibcoin/zibcoin/branches

https://github.com/zibcoin/zibcoin/archive/0.9.1zib.tar.gz
https://github.com/zibcoin/zibcoin/archive/0.9.1zib.zip

Huh
5  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Runoff Poll: "ubit" vs "centoshi". Which should be the rival to "bit"? on: May 08, 2014, 03:29:16 AM
The most natural way of using abbreviations / short forms is to simply strip off the last syllable(s), e.g.: university → uni, µbitcoin → µbit.
6  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: POLL: Would you like Bitcoin Core to switch to µBit as the default Bitcoin unit? on: May 08, 2014, 12:13:42 AM
This is a totally trivial recompile that can be done right now if you want it, since the client already supports all three units mentioned. All this would be is changing the user interface text.
This thread is pointless.
Bitcoin is open source, If you want those changes make a soft fork yourself.
The changes you desire wouldn't take long.

Of course, this can be done individually! In fact, many people already did that.
But that's not the point of this thread.

The question is: What should be the official version, i.e. the version that the upstream developers will distribute?
I don't think it is pointless.
7  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: POLL: Would you like Bitcoin Core to switch to µBit as the default Bitcoin unit? on: May 07, 2014, 03:59:20 PM
Despite the shrill shills, no poll I have seen can claim anything with regard to 'x% of the forum'. Has any of these polls garnered votes from more than 1% of the forum?

Not yet.

But it still can happen. Over time. Smiley
8  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Implementing a smaller denomination on: May 07, 2014, 02:34:21 PM
I think it would be easier to implement if it had a name, that people could relate to and almost forget "bitcoin" and think more in this denomination.

It already has a name:
The Bitcoin reference client (Bitcoin Core) officially calls it "µBTC".

But some people (including me) want to rename it.

But my real question is: "How do we get the ball rolling. How do we make this happen?"

Have a look at my post #2 above, I think it could trigger a chain reaction.
9  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Implementing a smaller denomination on: May 07, 2014, 02:10:50 PM
The first step would be to ask wallet developers to switch the default unit:
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=598082.0

If this gets done, then online wallet providers will probably follow.
Finally, exchanges and payment providers will also start using what their customers' wallets are using.
10  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: POLL: Would you like Bitcoin Core to switch to µBit as the default Bitcoin unit? on: May 07, 2014, 02:02:12 PM
Not really, 78% agreed with 1,000,000 bits being 1 BTC. It was not only about the size, but also about the name.
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=592691.0

That is completely false.  I know, because you are miscounting my vote.  Your faction is falsely claiming a consensus where there is none.  The majority are opposed to "bit" as the name.  We just can't agree on what we prefer.

Exactly! Quoted for truth.

But the question is: Will we find a compromise?
11  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What should 100 satoshis be called? (make sure to vote for TWO choices) on: May 07, 2014, 11:06:22 AM
I'm re-posting this, because I want to hear more opinions about it:

(Quoted from Reddit)

It's not my favourite actually, but if no consensus can be reached otherwise, I would go with this compromise.
12  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: POLL: Would you like Bitcoin Core to switch to µBit as the default Bitcoin unit? on: May 07, 2014, 08:44:44 AM
as long as µBTC=uBTC=ubit (pronounced you-bit instead of mew bit or mew BTC)

The pronunciation is not written in the source code.

You may pronounce it whatever you want. Smiley
13  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: POLL: Would you like Bitcoin Core to switch to µBit as the default Bitcoin unit? on: May 07, 2014, 07:36:40 AM
Didn't 80% of the forum already agree to move to bits?

Stop with the asinine polls people, we've already reached a consensus.

The other polls were about how to call this unit in colloquial language.
However, this poll is about how to call it in Bitcoin Core.

These are two entirely different realms.
Bitcoin Core is expected to have a high degree of security and accuracy.
You wouldn't expect to find a colloquial term there.

As a comparison: Would you expect to see the word "bucks" in GNU Cash??
If the answer is "no", then there shouldn't be the word "bits" in Bitcoin Core.

You may call them "bits"/"bucks", though. Wink
14  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Core (Bitcoin-Qt) 0.9.1 released - update required on: May 07, 2014, 04:53:40 AM
If you use Bitcoin Core, then this poll matters to you:
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=598082.0

Bitcoin Core users can vote about a change in Bitcoin Core!

(I posted this to the Bitcoin Core update thread because it would directly affect Bitcoin Core users.)
15  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: POLL: Would you like Bitcoin Core to switch to µBit as the default Bitcoin unit? on: May 07, 2014, 03:04:58 AM
Would you like these changes in Bitcoin Core?

[1] Replace "µBTC" with "µBit",
[2] replace "mBTC" with "mBit", and
[3] switch to "µBit" as the default unit.

Your question is not clear for me.
Do you also mean that µBTC == µBit?

Yes.

1 µBit = 1 µBTC

The only difference between µBTC and µBit is that "µBTC" is the current word, and "µBit" is the proposed new word.

For the reference:

1 000 000 µBit = 1 BTC

If not, [...]

See above.

I know that we had a lot of discussion about units in the last days and many of us are already tired of discussing.
However, apart from a lot of talk, nothing has happened yet.

There was recently a proposal on reddit which suggested to use "µBit" in contexts of formal writing and official places:
http://www.reddit.com/r/Bitcoin/comments/24rq1b/%C2%B5bit_proposal_%C2%B5bit_becomes_official_name_for_the/

The reddit proposal tried to be a good compromise, so I thought there should be a poll about this.

This poll is worded in a way to suggest concrete actions to the Bitcoin Core developers. Of course, the developers are independent and are not bound to this poll.
However, from what I have read from them in the past, I'm pretty sure the developers would adopt a change if the community expresses a clear wish to do so.

Personally I prefer another name for this unit, however I think that this change is an improvement over the current situation.
The current situation is that Bitcoin Core calls the unit "µBTC" which is so long-winded that no one really uses it.

Personally, I would accept this compromise:

19  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What should 100 satoshis be called? (make sure to vote for TWO choices) on: May 05, 2014, 03:07:24 PM
Looks like bits and ubits lead the way. These could be used interchangeably, no?

Looks like this idea got some traction at r/bitcoin too http://www.reddit.com/r/Bitcoin/comments/24rq1b/%C2%B5bit_proposal_%C2%B5bit_becomes_official_name_for_the/

Looks like others had the same idea as I had some posts above. It can't be too far off then. Cheesy

However, I believe that Satoshi told us to write a lowercase "b" when talking about the unit of measurement, i.e. it should be µbit, not µBit...

Edit:
Ah, I can see their reasoning now: The unit (µ)"bit" is already taken as a unit of information, so they're proposing (µ)"Bit" to mean the unit of money: (µ)bitcoin.

- snip -
1 GHz = 1 gigahertz
These units never have multiple uppercase letters
- snip -

Huh

I was referring to the base unit, i.e. just "Hz" (= hertz). The G in in GHz (gigahertz) is just a prefix that is applied in front of the actual unit.

What I wanted to say is that the base unit (without prefix), has at most one uppercase letter.
