Just to clarify this is not expected to replace your regular email
The solution is: Bitmessage. See https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=128230.0

And if you don't like those long bitmessage addresses then attach the Bitmessage client to a local Namecoin client and make use of Namecoin's id/ feature. You get a system that:

  • is censorship-resistant
  • is 100% decentralized
  • doesn't leave traces on the network ("meta data")
  • solves Zooko's Triangle

If you still insist on using a Bitcoin address for sending a message, this would require a small piece of software (actually a simple Python script) that searches the id/ directory for a Bitcoin address.

And way more easier to get spammed by e-mail advertiser. Grin

Thats the point you give your bitcoin address so that all the spam goes there and not into your actual email address. Then you move to new bitcoin email along with your new bitcoin address.

actually you will receive more spam in the form of bitcoin fee, like the recent ponzi spam of 10k satoshi, so you can see it as a way to make money, without doing nothing...

Sounds interesting but i think it's not good to use like that because using that email may become long and crappy and also not easy to remember....

It would be interesting to use bitcoin addresses as email address.
Try it out:
"yourbitcoinaddress"@bitcoinmessages.info

Eg:
1KWd23GZ4BmTMo9zcsUZXpWP4M8hmxZwRU@bitcoinmessages.info

Could be a good idea, the problem is that even if the RFC states that local-part (before the @) of the address is case sensitive, most e-mail providers make the e-mail address case insensitive to avoid confusion.

And we know case sensitivity is crucial in a Bitcoin address...

No. Email is something you need to remember and use with ease, so good luck remembering these lines of numbers and letters of bitcoin address. For normal daily uses bitcoin address as email is total overkill and is counterproductive, too long, case sensitive. Maybe it will be only liked by ultra bitcoin nerds who want some geeky looking emails...

I think like you,What would be the purpose of using bitcoin addresses like emails?
Ithink bitmessage is a better solution

Don't you understand about the case?

Just to clarify this is not expected to replace your regular email. This can be used in specific cases like when you want to contact with someone whose bitcoin address is only known or in cases where you do not want to give your regular email address this can be an easy replacement.

By the way, you said that will not easy to remember, that's same with your Bitcoin address.

It would be better if the bitcoin address is the email address. So I can send some bitcoins to 1CjPR7Z5ZSyWk6WtXvSFgkptmpoi4UM9BC or send an email to it.
You can use Bitmessage or just sign a message with your transaction, just send a tiny amount of BTC. I don't see any benefits doing what OP suggests IMO. Linking personal information with BTC signatures is not a good idea generally.

Can everybody see the messages on the block chain (if choose public message type)? Could be a way of public shaming fraud/scam involved addresses.

I don't think Bitmessages actually runs on the blockchain if that's what you're asking. They probably have their own database to store public / private messages.

I think this is the case. In any case one could sign an encrypted message.
In general emails aren't safe, there is a reason why this forum doesn't require email confirmations. Even satoshi's email ended up compromised.

it seems a bad idea to me because joining a btc address to an email address would create a bigger address and people don't like bigger email addresses.
they like it short.

Mabe we could start spamming people, and use fake Bitcoin addresses to do it.

yes that is nice suggestion to use an alias instead of bitcoin address because that will be against of privacy of us by using this email address we can easily traced from hackers and many people will be out of their bitcoins by this kind of method.

Like the NXT alias system, but I think it will be really difficult to add this option to bitcoin (waiting someone with more knowledge of me, to reply...).

The alias was also the First thing that popped into my mind.

Using the alias email, and when you want to send funds to someone, just press the send coins button in the address.

Really easy and practical for instance when repaying a friend or so!

This, it can be added to the bitcoin core client so people can send email/messages direclty from the wallet... but maybe I'm dreaming  Grin.

i hope so in future we will see this feature to send receive just need to add this one into bitcoin core client but i think any person from technical staff can help us about this it can be added to there or not, decentralized mail system will be great addition to bitcoin network.

Sent a message to myself (1K3JttmxEQkKZGvdm9pSm6Rx8R42ftKok3). Anyway, is this decentralized? I dont think it is. If it is decentralized, I would attract more people.

So sad! This profile does not appear as the #1 result (on anonymous) Google searches anymore.

If we can make bitcoin addresses easily, it means we can use many bitcoin addresses as email easily.
It'll increase spam & it'll be difficult to remember your own address

But, it'll also harder to track you down since you could change your bitcoin address easily

You can't really add a note in using Bitcoin transaction or anything. Those messages you see on Blockchain.info is embedded by users who adds them using Blockchain.info wallet and isn't visible on other block explorers. Pretty worthless I would say since a data loss will result in the messages being lost.

Using my wallet address to receive emails could be a bit to crazy when it comes to give out my email over the phone or people, then again is pretty cool.
