SOLUTION: What a day or so after making the setting.  Took a few days for the notification setting to go into effect for me, but it eventually did.

On Blockchain.info web wallet, when I import a watch-only address, everything seems to work well, but when transactions arrive at the watch-only address, they don't notify via SMS or Android alerts..

@blockchain.info_staff, please expand your SMS / Android Notification settings so that they work for all addresses in a users wallet. This is the main reason I signed up to Blockchain.info

EDIT: No blockchain staff, so blockchain users... FYI

Thx.

There is no Blockchain.info staff in this forum. You may get an answer if you email them.

Thx... I opened the ticket and stuff this morning, I'll change the subj from REQ to ATTN for those seeking this feature, it's not yet jelled, so look elsewhere for now.

It's weird, in past i received SMS alerts for any transaction from watch-only addresses
Maybe they disable this feature now to reduce maintenance costs Huh

Ahh... good information... I'll wait to hear what they say, but good to know that it may be a regression from a previously working state.

For my config... I did the following:
  • put my watch address in
  • set up my notifications
  • checked blockchain about an hour later, no TX
  • checked blockchain about an hour later, saw a new TX
  • 6 hours later... still no SMS or other interesting notification

Thx.

Are you using the Blockchain.info Android app? It seems to not stay persistently running in the background or not send notifications due to the app updates and/or getting logged out, so you have to reopen and relogin periodically.

Saying that you don't trust someone because of their behavior is completely valid.

Are you using the Blockchain.info Android app?

I was running a Chrome Browser Tab on Win 8 and the Android App on KitKat.  Neither showed a notification, but both silently updated the balance when the transaction came through.

Blockinfo Support confirms that notifications no longer work for watch-only addresses

Notifications only apply to the addresses which have private keys in your wallet. I will make the suggestion to our development team to add Watch Only in the future. Thank you for your input.

Have you tried using email notifications? It still works. When funds come into my watch-only address, they send a notification to my email address and my phone notifies my of a new email. I use a different notification sound for emails from blockchain.info on my phone, so I immediately know it's bitcoin into my address.

I did not, my office closes email ports to external servers, so does me no good.  I get cell coverage there, but no data unless I'm by the window.  So no MMS or Email, only SMS.  Might be able to craft an Email to SMS rule though.

In any case they said it didn't work, so I stopped all efforts.  I would like to prove them wrong.  I have a payment coming in Sunday, so I'll let you know if it works.

Thx

Got both SMS and email this time.

Maybe it just takes some time for the notification settings to replicate to the SMS server?  Who knows... works now.. Horray!
