HitBTC scammed me. After I bought DOGE, they disabled DOGE trading and withdrawals. All I get are canned responses about ‘technical maintenance,’ and it’s been a year now. If anyone knows about a class action lawsuit or any way to go after them, let me know.

You deposited into the exchanges. After you bought doge, you can not withdraw it. Also probably that is how it would be even if you buy bitcoin. HitBTC is not an exchange that we advice people to use, but I do not think it has gotten to this. Saying it is maintainance but it looks like scam.
You access the exchange through the app? How did you get the app. Or you access the exchange through the browser? Let us know the link you used to access the exchange.
I guess you access a fake exchange, thinking it is HitBT but not HitBTC.

so I did a quick search and saw a thread on Reddit talking about it, apparently, a lot of people are complaining about their DOGE being stuck on HitBTC because they disabled withdrawal on DOGE and it's been going on for 3.5 years(at least according to one of the comments I read).
just curious, have you recently talked to their support about it? If so, what did they say?

You waited for just one year? I think there are people who have failed to withdraw their Doge from that scam exchange all the way from around 2019 I am not sure how you missed the warnings and went ahead to use them. Just search around the internet, you will see a lot of complaints about them. Even in this forum, they have negative reputation due to their long running scam.

If he searches the internet and simply types reviews about HitBTC, he will undoubtedly come across Trustpilot, Sikayetvar, and Reviews.io. Many other articles and review sites indicate that HitBTC is a scam exchange and should not be used at all for trading crypto. I have also found numerous complaints about DOGE manipulation, proving that the OP was not the only victim. I hope he will rely only on top-tier CEX platforms in the market next time. Also, if he searches in the forum, he will find: [1] Scam called ''INACTIVITY FEES'' - HitBTC [2] SCAMMED by HitBTC[3] HitBTC stole our money[4] HitBTC scam![5] HitBTC scam

What happened to your DOGE balance? Has it disappeared, been frozen, or something else? Usually, there's an option to convert it to them native token, and then you can withdraw it. However, if your balance disappears for no reason, this is a scam. HitBTC has a bad reputation and is involved in a lot of shady activities, so I hope the amount isn't large.

As far as I can remember, when DOGE price pumped significantly, HitBTC tricked users to force sell their DOGE in HitBTC with discounted price. Due to their so called "maintenance", users couldn't withdraw the DOGE at that time. What exactly happened in the background, IMO, is- hitBTC sold user's DOGE coin when it pumped a few hundred percent within a few days thinking that the price will go down but it never did at that time and pumped even more.

HitBTC has been tagged as a scam exchange, and I can personally confirm it. I had an account there, left it untouched for over a year, and when I tried to log back in, I couldn’t access it anymore. With no KYC requirements, the risk of getting scammed is much higher. At this point, there’s nothing you can do but move on, as their reputation is already beyond repair. Just take it as a lesson learne, never trust an exchange with a shady history.

IIRC, this is a long time scam attempt of Hitbtc ever since Elon Musk hype this token. They intentionally lower the DOGE price to attract traders to deposit and purchase DOGE. But the catch is they suspended the withdrawal on DOGE for a long time so you can’t withdraw it and force to sell on lower price because the price spread so damn high. Trader typically rush to buy when they saw the price is so low since it’s a very profitable arbitrage trading. You can refer to this old thread: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5347083.0

I call this a trap. If you are a seasoned trader, you should have a suspicion why the price of a certain coin is very low compared to other exchanges. It's ok if its only a few cents different, but a 20 to 50% is very suspicious. We will always go back to the basic advice of always doing your research before investing and before using a platform. As traders, we should be updated on the news on what's happening on various exchanges if there are latest issues or complaints; it just takes a few minutes to do this research.

You should be more specific about the matter. The market was open there, but the price was at least 10 times lower than the normal market price you can find elsewhere. So owners of the exchange could just buy DOGEs sold by desperate people needing money or exhausted to wait, 10 times their real value or even less, and eventually sell them at normal price on other exchanges, because they are unlikely to have this withdrawal barrier. But maybe because the scam was too much obvious and maybe because people stop to sell them, they've finally close this market. https://www.reddit.com/r/hitbtc/comments/1gu2bxr/doge_as_been_removed_from_hitbtc_trading_list/
