hephaist0s: is my 10.62 at 7:59:59 or Lairew's bid at 1:00:35 considered the last bid? Trying to figure out which is being used for the 30min. Does it end at 8:29:59 or 8:30:35?

hephaist0s: is my 10.62 at 7:59:59 or Lairew's bid at 1:00:35 considered the last bid? Trying to figure out which is being used for the 30min. Does it end at 8:29:59 or 8:30:35?

Current end time is 8:40 pm EST and Lairew is high bid. Here's the thing: this auction structure is meant to be proof against sniping, since each bid adds 30 minutes from bid time, so everyone has another 30 minutes to consider. There is no reason to wait until the last minute except for the adrenaline rush and the terror of tempting fate. Smiley

Bid increments are .02 as per OP, but I'm sure we'd all rather rounder numbers as a courtesy. Newbie accounts need to prove themselves or be vetted in some way in order to bid, and at the last minute that is probably impossible.

I literally planned my mothers birthday dinner a hour after the end of this auction so that it would not interfere with it. Unfortunately im going to have to bail out of this auction because of this rule. I do not have a means to bid while at dinner with her and I would not insult her by doing so anyways.

Unless you would be willing to extend the end of the auction to be at 10:30pm? A hour and a half should be enough time for me to finish up and get back to bid. Otherwise all I can do is bid before leaving and hope for the best.

Thank you.  Even though a year old account, I see where this is best for community.  Certainly would love to be be high bidder none the less.  I would like to have to provide someone with my credentials so this isn't an obstacle going forward.

Thanks for responding.  good luck bidders.

I am sorry for the confusion, I did try to be clear in the original terms. I guess all I can suggest is to make your best bid now and see if it holds.

My apologies if there was confusion.

hephaist0s: Since it was just me and Lairew that extended it and he has agreed to bow out, could we please consider this auction completed? I will not be bidding any higher because I will not have the means to do so.

I'll try another (maybe) auction.

about the auction
I think it isn't correct to accept other bid in this extratime from other users that didn't bid in time (8:00pm).
But auction is yours and you decide.

I agree it would suck for jack, but you can't just change the rules like that either. I doubt anyone else is after it at this point though.

I disagree. I've had inquiries via PM from other parties who have not yet bid, and there is nothing wrong with watching an auction be extended and taking your time to make a decision of your own.

Don't get me wrong, I am perfectly happy with the price and would be glad to call it a night, but I really would like to stick to the original auction terms. If no one else is interested, then there's nothing to worry about.

This also seems the most fair situation to me as well. The other parties had opportunities to bid during the auction and they did not. Now they are suddenly going to be given a chance? That does not strike me as a fair auction.

I'll try another (maybe) auction.

Inquiries in a PM are not bids and should not be thought of as so. If they wanted to bid they had their chance up until 8:00pm. They did not bid so they should not be considered as bidders since they did not bid.

I never said that inquiries were bids. It only meant that people were watching the auction. No, I reject the idea that one is  required to bid early in order to bid late. The terms are as stated in the OP. They are not strange terms, they are fairly common. Just a few more minutes anyway.

Great auction, congrats.

I can see why there are more "no sniping" auctions lately  Grin

No longer buying/selling Casascius coins. Beware scammers.
