Bitcoin continues to prove its censorship resistance every day. In fact, a male escort from the UK explains how he uses Bitcoin to bypass restrictions in his field of work in an editorial published by the NewStatesman.

Sex workers is a taboo subject, and certain groups and governments have shown they are against these types of occupations. However, those who participate in this line of work believe it is their decision. Now, thanks to the digital age they are overcoming obstacles preventing them from working in the escort business. Bitcoin has helped Oz, an Australian male escort working out of London, to get over these legal obstructions.

The article says Oz often has to teach his potential clients about BTC and in my experience, too, it is a challenging thing to do. In my business that is other than escort I found getting the right approach extremely difficult.

How does one teach the necessary knowledge to pay in BTC about the cryptocurrency to someone who has not used BTC before and if anything, has the image about this currency from unknowledgeable source that shows it as a currency of criminals in order to get more attention from also unknowledgeable readers.

How does one solve the problem when the client lacks of reliable knowledge about BTC and maybe even associate it with crime?

Who or what is censoring him? By the sounds of it most escort places have some bland sounding company that takes the card payments if there are any.

Although this is a controversial topic here, I think bitcoin is showing its capability to free people from many restrictions.

It is the users who will be ultimately responsible for how the freedom is being used. If it is used to facilitate crime/law breaking, it will still be illegal.

I'm sure this will be controversial topics among us in here.
While Oz got advantages by using bitcoin such as protect his privacy, prevent account ban/freeze and lower fees.
Too bad some people still don't know about bitcoin and some will say that bitcoin help illegal/disgraceful activity Roll Eyes
They say it's disgraceful and only used for illegal/immoral activities because those are the stories that are publicized when it comes to Bitcoin. It's not like the news has stories about "local man buy shirt with Bitcoin" or whatever. Even then this is likely filler content because they couldn't find a lot more that would interest the population.

It kind of makes sense when you look at why such a site would publicize this, but I'm thinking they're trying to emphasize the bypassing censorship part more than anything else.

This is why Bitcoin is censorship proof and not controlled by centralized opinions on what is good and what is bad. Prostitution has been with us for many centuries and most people paid for those

services with cash. The new kid on the block, Bitcoin makes this process safer. These prostitutes are often targeted because they carry a lot of cash around, and then they get robbed and hurt or even

killed in the process. I am not saying this is right or wrong... but I am saying that we should be able to make a choice. In any way, if the authorities carry out a sting operation, and they seize the

phone or the computer being used for this, they will have access to the Bitcoin address being used and also the Blockchain history of all the transactions that took place.  Roll Eyes

I understand they are showing BTC as an infamous currency used by criminals because negative or - even better - shocking articles often get more clicks from naive people who do not know anything about BTC than technical articles for people who already use or would like to really learn about BTC. However, the value of the previous kind of articles drops down by time while the real tutorials will always stand for more open-minded people. So I keep it natural that BTC is going to be widerly accepted and known within the big society. The best thing that we can do in order to make the mentioned process quicker is keeping the tutorials alive for newcomers.
