I’ve been selling legal streaming services on the btctalk marketplace for 5 months I have 150+ sales & 20+ vouches
e.g 1 of my threads https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1492674.0
However I have a handful of feedbacks

I want to encourage customers to leave me positive feedback however there is frequent confusion sometimes even from full members.
They get freaked out by the words: “Positive - You trust this person or had a successful trade”
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=trust;u=833452#newfeedback

As soon as they see the word trust they, get confused & start using phrases such as ‘giving trust’ & think that by leaving me feedback,
they are also adding me to their trust list.

So I’m creating this post
1) To reassure customer’s they can leave me feedback.
2) To help any newbies (& more senior members!) get clear the tangle between feedback & Trust
NOTE : PLEASE do not clutter this thread with chat about trust system. This is already covered in depth here https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=211858.0

This is how positive feedback works :

i) Leaving someone positive feedback does not automatically add them to your trust.
This is made clear in a Q & Ans with Theymos here https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=211858.msg2221697#msg2221697

ii) You leave Positive feedback.
After this if anyone has You(the person leaving feedback) in their trustlist, when they look on my feedback page the feedback will
show up as Trusted feedback. If they don’t specifically have you in their trust list then it will show up as Untrusted feedback.

iii) So all Positive feedback will show up to anyone else as ‘untrusted feedback’ except yourself or those who have you in their trustlist.

iv) It does not matter who you have in your trust list (e.g. DT)– anyone in your trust list will always see the positive feedback you left as Untrusted feedback.
Unless you have physically added that person to your trust list here. https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=trust

v) You can easily remove/update feedbacks.. Just go the profile where you left it and you'll see a "Delete" link.

vi) I can’t remove your positive/negative feedbacks only you can in theory admin can (but they won’t).

vii) This is a trustlist page https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=trust
This is a feedback page https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=trust;u=833452#newfeedback

viii) You view someone’s untrusted feedback i.e.”ratings from people who are not in your trust network.”
by going to the link just above & clicking on ‘show ratings’ link.

viii) See middle of 1st post here for some guidelines on when to leave positive Feedback: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=211858.0[/url]

OK – that covers it.

Is this supposed to be a guide on how to and when to leave trust? If so, it is inadequate although a good attempt. With the input of other members and some better formatting/styling it may turn out to be a decent one.

As far as ratings are concerned, you are allowed to leave someone one for whatever reason. However, this may have negative effects if you try to paint someone with negative ratings due to random/irrelevant/inadequate reasons. The same applies for positive trust. However, I would say that for one-time (and especially small) trades a neutral rating is adequate (as a way of 'recording' a successful trade).

vii) This is a trustlist page https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=trust]
Should probably changed to "This is your trust list page" as it may cause confusion.

You shouldn't "encourage" people to leave you Positive Trust. If you have to ask, it looks like you are padding your Trust.
People will leave it as they see fit or leave nothing at all.

When the subject of buying BTC with Paypal comes up, I often remember this:

Insanity: doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.
