As there are thousands of crypto currencies out there, i want to have a watchlist (max 50) of altcoins in regard of some defined requirements.

The watchlist can also be found here:
GERMAN: http://www.kryptowaehrungen-kennen-lernen.ch/altcoin-watchlist/
ENGLISH: http://www.meet-cryptocurrencies.com/altcoin-watchlist/ ( Still work in progress)

please help making the best altcoin watchlist and newbie crypto website on the web - to help spread the word - and most important to avoid that people coming newly into this topic and looking
for info on the net about altcoins - dont land up on any of these hundreds of scam/hyip
sites, which really does not help the cryptos to find their way into society :/ crypto is a serious thing, that could make the world a better place -
so we should make sure that people realize that and end up on the official channels of the well developed opensource coins when they looking for information.

Update 2017/03/24 - Heres a screen of the new beta list on the website - here you can see the features planned - most of them already working
http://en.kryptowaehrungen-kennen-lernen.ch/wp-content/uploads/sites/3/2017/03/tablebeta-2.jpg

Update 2017/03/26 - Big update on page and this thread following soon - please bookmark and stay up2date
================= CURRENT WATCHLIST (2017-03-15) (alphabetical order - no ranking yet) ========================
---Name+BTForumLink-----------Algorithm------Github------MarketCap------Hashrate---
DigitalNote (XDN)CryptonightSource--
Decred (DCR)Blake256Source--
Ethereum (ETH)EthashSource--
Ethereum Classic (ETC)EthashSource--

Lisk (LSK)DPoS(?)Source--

PIVX (PIV)QuarkSource--
ZClassic (ZCL)EquihashSource--
ZCoin (XZC)Lyra2zSource--
=========================================================================

=== OPEN APPLICATIONS FOR WATCHLIST ===
Here you'll find the currencies found in this thread or by me that are not yet on the list and
are subject to discussion here. If you can help checking against our criterias, we can approve or decline them.

- Litecoin (LTC) (One of the oldest, most stable altcoins. but seems to be dead/not very innovative?)
- Dash (Very promising but very bad distribution (richlist), X11 already ASIC ready, founders bonus)
- OneCoin (OC) (3rd OneCoin see link, not the 2 scams..., seems legit but not much activity, waiting for fork)
- Waves (Very innovative tec, chrome wallet, but not sure about algo/mining/distribution)
- Wild Beast Block (WBB) (Coin+OS - seems huge, not sure about mining and distribution yet)

Please share your (constructive) thoughts about the altcoins we have on the application list !

=== CRITERIAS FOR WATCHLIST (subject to change!) ===
* Sourcecode for Node must be Opensource
* No unreasonable Premine or concentration of Coins from the beginning / for founders (richlist)
* CPU/GPU friendly algos that are ASIC-resistant as good as possible
* to force decentralized mining, devteam should promote / support decentralized model (by choosing algo,pools,etc)
* Innovative Technology that differs it from bitcoin
* Does not have to be a currency, but has to have a defined purpose (e.G ETH or DCR)
* No Dead Coins or Coins without a serious approach (as Doge, Moneta Verde, and so on ..)
* No ICO / SCAM / HYPE Coins as Dash, ZCash, and all the other makesomefastcashalmostponzylike cryptos..

Additional points (will be used for ranking)
* Payment acceptance
* market cap
* stability
* quality of official channels like website, twitter
==========================

To make things clear: its not about these cryptos are cool, or fake, or whatever - its about the cryptos on this
list meet our criterias listed above or not.

There can be other technically interesting cryptos with huge hashrate or marketcap that will not be on this watchlist

=== HOW CAN U CONTRIBUTE TO THIS THREAD ( Thanks in advance for helping ! ) ===

- Suggest New Crypto Currencies for the Watchlist, meeting our Criterias
- Share your experiences about crypto currencies in the watchlist

============================================

To make things complete..here we'll add the crypto currencies we have checked and do not match our criterias:
Byteball(GBYTE),Bytecoin(BCN),FantomCoin(FCN),Dogecoin(DOGE),Litecoin(LTC),ZCash(ZEC)

I will also use this thread as a information base for my new website (link above) - it has the purpose of showing the information of this thread
(and some additional content thats known to all users here and doesnt belong in this thread) for nonforum users and newbies to the cryptocurrency topic - in a visually attractive manner,
easy to read and understand.

So in long term the page/thread could act as ( one of many ) entry points for newbies in the cryptocurrency (especially altcoin) topic. for now, its just for me and some friends asking for what i know so far about this topic xD
i had a wiki page in my private wiki for that, as i wanted to share my knowledge with friends. this page and thread is now the result of opening up that information to public and asking for help for the research.

There will be follow up links to all the official cryptocurrency channels and the BT Forum aswell on the website, so people starting on that page having interest for more info
will endup here and on the other official channels - rather than on some scam/hyip pages when you just use raw google or any other searchengine.
So this page should also act as kind of a filter, so people with no knowledge about cryptos searching for information, will end up in the official channels.

My goal is to support the top 10 altcoins of this watchlist here very activly - not in financial manner, but in trying to build up the community and spread the word amongst my friends.
this thread and the page should build a solid base so i (and other newbies with interested to push some crypto for the good) can decide where to put their effort in.
Sure this can be no garantee, but its for sure far better then hyping every freaking ico/mlm/scam/justgetsomequickdirtymoneyshit Coin and wasting time, motivation, and last but not least money.

So i'd be very glad if you could support me to make this a high quality thread which gives a good overview for people sharing the same interest in cryptocoins as i do.

The first step will be to finish the list and find 50 currencies that meet the criterias. after that, well try to set up some sort of ranking
(maybe multiple ones with different weight of criterias).

History
2017/03/24 - Improved Watchlist on Website - now working with 3 APIS to get live data of watched currencies. Links and much more added. Update on this thread soon

2017/03/15 - PIVX/ZClassic added to List.

2017/03/15 - Layout update

ONECOIN?

WTF?

Not on watchlist yet but open for discussion

There's 3 of them. 2 are scams as far as i know (guess you mean one of 'em?), the third one seems legit opensource but not much activity and a very bad chosen name -.-

you only have six coins and already you are violating your own  criteria https://eprint.iacr.org/2011/635.pdf

ASIC 'resistance' is anyway a completely absurd criteria, so you might want to just drop that entirely if you want to be taken seriously.

thats why i made this thread, its hard to proove all the criterias for me alone - thanks a lot for contribution. Well as far is i "understand" this pdf - its theoretically possible to make groestl asics - but there none out yet (only groestl-0).

Thats a good info in long term as groestcoin would grow. but anyway - as far as i know none of the algorithms used by any coin is ASIC-resistant .. its more about if the coin devs care
about that fact and in case of groestlcoin i think they do - as they have chosen this algo so that specific ASIC would have to be built .. and that would only happen it the coin really goes up.

so maybe i have to rewrite or drop the criteria .. thats right .

Edit: Criteria changed.

It is great to have posts like this, but i think you will be more lucky with a website, translated to english, instead of a post in bitcointalk, posts moves quickly to the depths of the forum, and will soon be forgoten.
I remember of some posts doing this, some was tracking dead coins and listing them (necronomicon), they all dissapeared because of lack of maintenance.

Your website looks great, but i don't read german, and it could be easily extended, you can also use a block explorer's API to get network hashrate instead of coinmarketcap, you will get more accurate.

Thanks for your feedback. I share your thoughts, its my main goal to translate the website to English asap ( any help welcome ) and extend it with some more features as hashrate view. Got experience in json/js/php so that should be no problem.

Im also not sure about the thread, i hope people get involved and help me by suggesting new coins and sharing their experiences here, so we can keep the thread alive for a while. i will update / edit the first post for a while with my new experiences anyway so anyone who may like this post can bookmark it and look for it later on ..

Well, i love to play with these APIs, i could help you if you find any problem, just PM me.
I suggest to add LISK, WAVE, LITECOIN, DASH, because they are promissing coins, with great concepts, except for litecoin, but it is interesting to watch this coin because since some weeks, things are mooving.

You can use this API : https://www.cryptocompare.com/api
You will have a phenomenous amount of informations, great tool for watching websites, trackers, price queries.

Thanks for your suggestions. Added Lisk to the List, seems very promising ! They just released a new version today. About the other 3 im not sure, thats why i added them to applications list - need some more info in them first.

Litecoin: Very old & stable - but isnt it almost dead - is there really some innovation going on, compared to all newer altoins?
Dash: Insane rally going on - but seems to have very bad distribution (some addreses hold huge amounts far worse than bitcoin), and it seems that devs got unreasonable amount of dash on their side. also im reading about technical difficulties dash could run into.
Waves: Already downlaoded and read a lot about it - seems very very innovative, and a huge approach. but read a lot of negative things about it, and wasnt yet able to verify our criterias. gonna check them.

Also thanks for the API Link - that saves me some time Cheesy will give it a try this weekend, will post an update here when its done. If i should get stuck, i'll PM you.

Nice, but you still need to work on the hashrate, maybe adding diff also is a good thing, to do this, as you are using wordpress, you can query the results in a separate .php file, and then call it using ajax request to your website, this way you will cover most of the important informations about a cryptocurrency.
Great job, some typos should of the english website.

ye gonna work on it Smiley i use wordpress but writing my own plugins. To be nice to the API providers, i just update the data by batch every 15mins and store it to database. so its accurate / up2date enough,
but uses very few resources. and this way i can load the data pretty fast without any ajax Smiley and the load of the website does not affect the load on the api.

gonna post another update in about 72 hours.

still looking for some more info about currencies - if anybody is gonna read this - please help making the best altcoin watchlist and newbie crypto website

Please share your (constructive) thoughts about the altcoins we have on the application list !

=== CRITERIAS FOR WATCHLIST (subject to change!) ===

You could collect hyperlinks pointing at historical controversy on some coins, e.g. if there has been a forking accident, a robbery of huge amounts (Cryptsy) or movements in the dev teams and the likes.
The more drama and history a coin features the more I am leaning to "value that in".
