My 3 questions:
1) My SP30 is mining @4.5Th/s turbo mode, 3100Watts on the wall. After changing the overclocking settings from "turbo fans, highest rate" to "medium fans, high rate", mining speed and wattage remains the same! Is this normal?
2) In my miner's firmware upgrade page, it says
Code:
Current firmware version: 2.5.64
Latest available firmware version:
So it does not display information for latest firmware. Anyone know what version is the latest and where to find it, since my miner can't? (dont know why)
3) Should I open the miner case and use vacuum cleaner to clean up the dirt?

1) Doesn't sound right, it should underclock.
2) I can't remember if firmware versions remained constant, if so then 2.6.14 or so is the latest stable. You can email them to get a manual file.
3) You're not going to have much buildup in an SP30 but you can if you want.

Ok I successfully upgraded to firmware version 2.6.14 (for some reason it was not displayed). I selected medium settings, I was getting around 4.45Th/s, slightly lower that turbo mode, around 3kW on the wall.
I feel that one should prefer medium settings over turbo mode, it doesn't push the ASICs/PSUs to the limits and will make the miner last longer. 50Gh/s is not much after all now.

Still doesn't sound like its changing sufficiently, medium settings should be quite a way from turbo. Can you upload some screenshots?

^change the max watts to 1200W and youll get ~4.3TH/2.6kW

24" PCI-E cables with 16AWG wires and stripped ends - great for server PSU mods, best prices https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=563461
No longer a wannabe - now an ASIC owner!

Anyone running an SP30 with one of the hashboards completely removed?  Is this feasible if one board becomes badly compromised?

I didn't have any problems trying it, although its simpler to simply disable all the loops on the bad board unless its terribly damaged, and then you could try removing the PSU - hashboard electrical connection plate thing to depower the board.

i have problems with my sp30, i bought it recently used but the event log shows alot of errors, one of them is LOOP 9 failed, and other things, i will copy the event and you can see...

i dont understand nothing there please help what do i need

So chips 21 and 27 is causing problems which makes all the chips on loop 9 misbehave. Go to ASIC control, disable chip 27 and see if you still have problems. If you do, its probably a controller issue.

thank for your answer, i disabled the chip 21 27 and 28 and it solved the problem completely, hashing 4.15 th right now,

can you give me a clue how to fix the disabled chips?i mean its possible to fix? i would wish to set my sp30 to max performance!

If you've not fiddled with voltages too much then the answer is no, they're likely dead. Trying to run with even slightly non-performing chips apparently messes up the auto calibration as well.

Hi all!!

New user here, pretty green as well. Hope the topic is still alive.

Guys, how can I upgrade the firmware manually on SP30? currently have very old one with limited options to play, have the copy of 2.7.1 downloaded just Know How is missing . I'm looking to upgrade as my CGminer is restarting every 2 mins. Hopefully the upgrade will help.

Cheers

Hello, I'm using an SP30 here, it's also my first miner.  A couple things I found that might help:

Try to run it on 220v.

Try to run each power supply on separate circuits.

Make sure you're using a suitable cord.  If the cord gets warm after operation, it's not heavy enough, get a thicker one.

Don't run any other devices on those circuits if you can avoid it.

Remove and reinsert each power supply, make sure it's in there well.

Make sure your 'restart if hash rate falls below' setting is 0

Look at the ASIC Stats page during start up to see if any of them act strange, like they suddenly switch to 1280 mhz just before it reboots.

Go into the ASIC settings and disable all of them.   Restart miner, then turn on one at a time and restart miner between each, give it about 5-10 minutes, if it has a problem with one, leave that one 'disabled' (but not 'removed').

Where did you find firmware 2.7.1?  I'd like a copy please.  I'm using 2.6.14 but it doesn't seem able to get full operation out of the device, with one chip disabled i'm only getting 3.7 Th/s and it should be more like 4.3.  If you'd like a copy of 2.6.14 let me know and I'll find the link, maybe it would help to have it around.

Hi,  thanks for your suggestions. I think my SP30 is dying or is death already. Just had another recovery session. It started pretty well with 3.5TH/s but then it gradually slowed down due to ASIC's being shoot down one after another. I'm afraid the software i have is so basic that you can't switch any chips or anything like that. That's why I would like to update it, but my system doesn't offer the option " load from the file". I know newer FIRMWARE's have this as a standard.

Strange thing is, that the miner ran for at least 30 - 60min and it didn't submit any work to the pool or, pool didn't received any. Even so, the pool has recognised the hashing rates - any suggestions?

About the firmware and other files I've have found them in the topic: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=521520.14380. I recommend you to check if it's really SP30 firmware

Cheers

Hi there. I know this is a dead post as it has no replies in a long time. Yet I might as well try it. I have a couple of sp30's with some Issues and can't seem to find an answer to repair them.

First, 2 of the miners don't seem to load correctly. I start them up, PSU's and fans start and sound all right, yet there is no response from the leds in the front panel (the "ready" and "info" LEDS) and it doesn't appear to connect with my network. Tried doing a SD recovery, but I have no way of telling if it's even trying to restore, as I have no access to GUI or anything.

I have another miner that shows a red LED in the back (PSU's) when I plug it in. Yet I know the PSU's are allright, as I've tried them in a working miner and they work fine.

If anyone has an idea or hint on how to look, I'd appreciate it A LOT!.
