Would this work for a GPU/PCIe riser?

Also, would it matter having those two ground cables on the 8 pin connector? I know you can get the cheaper 6 pin splitters for around ~$4.

you can't just go around y-splitting cables, wires have gauges and gauges have amp limits. look for 2x molex -> 8 pin and make sure you use 2 separate wires to feed it. sata -> 8 pin cables are bullshit since you need at least 3 and nobody makes 3 sata -> 8 pin cables.

And yes the 2 ground pins matter, the 6 and 8 pin connectors can work in different configurations and you totally need those 2 extra pins for that extra 75w. Modern 8 pin connectors add 2 grounds and switch one ground on the 6 pin to signaling to stabilize the voltage.
