Would this work for a GPU/PCIe riser?

Also, would it matter having those two ground cables on the 8 pin connector? I know you can get the cheaper 6 pin splitters for around ~$4.

Bitcoin mining is now a specialized and very risky industry, just like gold mining. Amateur miners are unlikely to make much money, and may even lose money. Bitcoin is much more than just mining, though!

you can't just go around y-splitting cables, wires have gauges and gauges have amp limits. look for 2x molex -> 8 pin and make sure you use 2 separate wires to feed it. sata -> 8 pin cables are bullshit since you need at least 3 and nobody makes 3 sata -> 8 pin cables.

And yes the 2 ground pins matter, the 6 and 8 pin connectors can work in different configurations and you totally need those 2 extra pins for that extra 75w. Modern 8 pin connectors add 2 grounds and switch one ground on the 6 pin to signaling to stabilize the voltage.
