I think you know this already, but monero can be mined decently well with a cpu. It actually has value.

You probably should. It's possible to mine solo, but it's unlikely that you will get anything within a reasonable amount of time unless you have something expensive like 6 good GPUs. Better to mine in a pool. The one I'm using is monerohash.com but there are many others with various advantages and disadvantages. Don't use minergate, there is widespread suspicion that it steals your hash power.

I know I should mine in a pool, it was the way the sentence was worded that made me confused.

AEON, BCN, XDN, XMR, all those are not profitable mining but you can get yourself in some crypto money easily like that. I got like 6 dollars mining aeon in a week with a normal computer when BTC was around 1000, now those are worth like 15, and if I moved them in some trades I could've made more, but yeah, its pretty cool how with little effort you can mine these coins.
