Ok here goes the story ....
I want to give my wife something that request a bit coin.
I am very new to this and basically i have attempted getting bit coins before but without any luck.

I am willing to pay for the bit coin of course i just want 100% assurance i wont get scammed.

Can someone explain what is the safest way to buy a bitcoin. on this forum.
I am willing to pay directly by bank. so no scam from my side.

I got a wallet downloaded but it seems to be weeks out of sync anyone a good suggestion for a good wallet for this currency.?

Open an account in an exchange to buy bitcoins. You can find a list in our catalog which you can find in my signature.
Also you can use Multibit wallet which is no need to sync https://multibit.org/

I just figured out what a escrow tbh if someone want to sell 1 bitcoin to me lets use a escrow and i pay for the cost 0.5% is barely anything but will make the deal atleast scure.

I do believe you would be better off with a safe exchange site.. e.g. Mt. Gox, which is one of the main exchange sites around.

it really depends on where (which country) and when you need the bitcoin?

it is possible to pay by direct bank transfer (escrow highly recommended) in certain countries

if you need your coin fast, https://localbitcoins.com/ may help, since it would take some time (even weeks) to set up an account with an exchange

I assume you're in the states because you didn't say, I'd highly recommend that you try a blockchain.info wallet & you can use https://coinbase.com to buy if you have a US bank account.

Sounds like a Casascius Coin is what you're after!

You could find one on eBay

Companies claiming they got hacked and lost your coins sounds like fraud so perfect it could be called fashionable.  I never believe them.  If I ever experience the misfortune of a real intrusion, I declare I have been honest about the way I have managed the keys in Casascius Coins.  I maintain no ability to recover or reproduce the keys, not even under limitless duress or total intrusion.  Remember that trusting strangers with your coins without any recourse is, as a matter of principle, not a best practice.  Don't keep coins online. Use paper or hardware wallets instead.

I am on the internet i like to keep my privacy and tbh I would like the bit coin not to late of course today is her birthday I think the real party is in about a week maby less.

Try https://bitonic.nl/, it's a Dutch website that trades BTC and accepts Ideal (note to other readers: popular Dutch online payment system) for payments. The rates are a bit higher than on the big exchanges, roughly 5%, but I guess that's the price of convenience.

You need to prove your identity for anti-money-laundering purpose. You can't really escape this if you want to deal with "reputable" exchanges. To remain anonymous, you'll probably better off buying direct from sellers.

I agree, I buyed one casascius for a gift, and its lots better than a "digital" Bitcoin. I gift another one to a friend and the face was like, what I do with this?

If is a digital gift, they don't know how much you spend on that gift. A coin, is ever a coin but people think it has some value. (even if is it the same value)
