hello,

i try to extract the private key of an address in my wallet, however i am getting an error:

dumpprivkey 1DcdQWLVGjBz12B3FM1Db27ukZo4WeUD9o
Private key for address 1DcdQWLVGjBz12B3FM1Db27ukZo4WeUD9o is not known (code -4)

any way to still get the private key or at least get the remaining funds out of it without any fees?

i am using official 0.8.1 client with an encrypted wallet, all other addresses work fine. it is just this one.

You need to run walletpassphrase first.

The following questions sound stupid but are you sure your wallet contains this address? How can you know?

Own address: 19QkqAza7BHFTuoz9N8UQkryP4E9jHo4N3 - Pywallet support: 1AQDfx22pKGgXnUZFL1e4UKos3QqvRzNh5 - Bitcointalk++ script support: 1Pxeccscj1ygseTdSV1qUqQCanp2B2NMM2
Pywallet: instructions. Encrypted wallet support, export/import keys/addresses, backup wallets, export/import CSV data from/into wallet, merge wallets, delete/import addresses and transactions, recover altcoins sent to bitcoin addresses, sign/verify messages and files with Bitcoin addresses, recover deleted wallets, etc.

Perhaps your wallet has been corrupted. You have a backup, of course.

Perhaps you really don't own the address. There are two set of addresses that a wallet tracks -- addresses for receiving bitcoins (you own these), and addresses that you send to (you don't own these).
