ICO means Initial Coin Offering while IPO means Initial Private Offering. The first is used in crypto field while the latter (I guess) is stock related. OP, you may want to google all that to expand your horizon better.

ICO with IPO is the same way to developer to collect money from investor but the different thing between them is ICO unregulated but IPO has regulated so could  be more safe to make investment in IPO but to make invest here need bigger capital and ussualy promising lower profit than ICO but the risk also lower. ICO is modern crowdsale but IPO is traditional one.

IPO is based on profits and shares, whereas ICO's are usually based on tokens /altcoins.

Also the other very big difference is the amount of regulations with IPO's and no regulations with ICOs.

Based on my understanding. ICO is the initial distribution of the tokens. And IPO is the first public offering of stock. They have a common feature of a way to raise funds.

To hold an ICO, companies need to create a whitepaper and set up a website with purchase information. While holding an IPO involves working with investment banks and receiving the approval of the SEC. While IPOs are heavily regulated, ICOs are not governed by existing financial regulations. But all said and done, it pays to know what you are getting yourself into. Doing the proper research is crucial to making effective investments, whether those investments are in ICOs or IPOs.

No, an IPO is equal to your stake in that company, and then sometimes the ICO is worthless, and most of the time it can be circulated on the platform.
