On September 15 the trading platform BTC-e announced its official rebranding and the new exchange domain called Wex.nz. The company’s welcome message explains to customers the details of the reopening they call “Wex Rising,” while the business also emphasizes they are fully AML/KYC compliant.

BTC-e Transforms Into a New Exchange Called ‘Wex’

The exchange BTC-e has recently announced to its Twitter followers it has now rebranded into a trading platform called Wex. The new domain looks exactly like the old BTC-e trading platform, and the exchange is trading 484 BTC worth of trade volume at the time of writing. Everything is the same minus the new name, and patrons will be pleased to see the ‘troll box’ is alive and well. The front page of the site contains a welcome message from the new Wex team which explains how customers can trade and withdraw balances.

“This is our first official announcement,” explains the Wex team. “We thank all ex-users of BTC-E for their patience at such a difficult moment for all of you guys. We on our part have spent a lot of efforts and energy to create a new platform for trade in the shortest time limits.”

I don't know how they come up with the name Wex, I assumed this is the new investors that they are talking about? Still welcoming news though, they have gone into trouble and trying to rise from the ashes. I'm sure that BTC-e customers will also be attracted to the new name and will definitely trade with them again. Though this time tighter regulations where already in place. Let hope that they can recover and if they did, then they it will set as a precedence on how a trading platform can recover and bounce back after a run in with the Feds.

add more things:

they posted updates on the Russian section giving indication that they are Russians

And  this:

" “I do not consider myself guilty — The fact that I worked for BTC-e and did my job, it’s not justifiable to accuse me of it,” Vinnik explains to the news outlet Russia Today (RT). "

sounds dodgy

I agree

rebrand to wex ( worldwide exchange ) is to remove association from btce scam and arrests.
ill speculate that the website is hosted by russian datacenters.
basically this is wex in a nutshell.

russians operating an exchange hosted in a russian datacenter through a new zealand domain name follows laws of singapore.

would anyone trust that cluster fuck? why the need for nz domain if its singapore laws and i presume based? couldnt they get a dot com or singapore domain?

I am quite certain that BTC-E, or better said, WEX, has done enough research to ensure their exchange to fall 'outside' interference zone of the USA - that at the end of the day is their main concern. It's obviously visible that they are trying to distance themselves from BTC-E in as many ways as possible, from which according to them, the "fact" that they managed to relaunch without any funds from BTC-E, is a very important aspect. Essentially, people will completely forget about what happened when we are a month or two away from now. This is always how things go - Bitfinex is the perfect example of how willing people are to forgive whatever exchange for its deeds.
