Why doesn't the bitcoin SW include an auto-updater, or at least an auto-notifier? If it ever gets hacked, there are going to be vulnerable versions in the wild for weeks/months...

I've been told it's 'cause they fear the auto-update function will be hijacked to trick users into installing malware...
