Hi guys.

I dont know if this is the right place for this as I'm mining litecoin using cgminer but overnight it seems like perhaps one of my cards got too hot and this morning was listed as DEAD (two card setup 7950 frozr's).  I tried scaling back settings and while that particular GPU now does something it only goes as high as 82kh/s while the other reaches 600 kh/s.

I thought it was a problem with the GPU so I switched it with another 7950 (brand new, waiting for riser cables before I can use three at once) but the problem still persists.  So I was thinking it was software related so I uninstalled the graphics driver and reinstalled as before (setup as per cryptobadger http://www.cryptobadger.com/2013/04/build-a-litecoin-mining-rig-windows/ ), also I reinstalled cgminer on top of the existing version I had and the problem is still there!

I'm so confused.  Did I wreck something?  Could the heat have done something to the motherboard perhaps?  (the card that failed was only running at 82/83 degrees) It cant be a problem with the GPU as the one I replaced it with is doing the same, undoing the overclock to stock settings doesnt do anything, reinstalling the graphics driver doesnt do anything.  What am I missing???

Just a quick update, I thought that perhaps it was underclocked through afterburner but its listing both GPU's as the same settings.  The weird thing is that I cant actually change settings on the individual cards through afterburner, whatever I change on one changes on the other as well so they both end up with the same settings.  Is it meant to work that way?

Another quick update, looking at the settings in cgminer I can see the card is severley underclocked.  I cant seem to change them either it just stays at what it wants to stay at.

Cgminer settings are as follows, with Afterburner settings matching these for overclocking.  Why isnt cgminer using these settings and instead reverting to its own??

timeout /t 30

setx GPU_MAX_ALLOC_PERCENT 100

setx GPU_USE_SYNC_OBJECTS 1

cgminer --scrypt -I 20,20 -g 1 -w 256 --thread-concurrency 21712

--gpu-engine 1050,1050 --gpu-memclock 1400,1400 --gpu-vddc 1.087

Seem to have fixed the issue, posting this in case it can help someone else down the track.

Took a guess and placed a plug with some resistors into the main GPU to trick windows into thinking there was a monitor there.  I didnt think the system needed to be tricked with the main GPU but after I inserted it the system automatically rebooted and seemed to work fine from there.  So far so good.
