I'm having difficulty getting replies sometimes, as if someone is ignoring me. Is there a way to check? Could it possibly be because I picked a bad name?

It's better than mine and I almost always get replies. Give them some time to respond, sometimes a person may just be too busy and have other pressing matters. If it's important and they are not responding within 2-3 days resend the PM or check if it's possible to contact them through other means (email, skype, etc.).

Do what I do.....

Deliberately annoy people and put it down as being effective....
But this brings up the whole religious debate,  doesn't it?

I don't want to annoy or troll because then I will certainly be ignored. Also, I'm not talking about private messages, but forum posts.

Give us some examples so that we can know why people don't answer you
Also, the number of people ignoring you is bottom left of all your posts (where the 'ignore' button is in other people's posts)

For some reason I cannot see a number in that location.  Is there an option or preference I need to set to see it?

You have been ignored by nobody, none of you have.  I have been ignored by more than 28 cowards.  People can also choose to ignore your pms but I think most of the time people don't see the notification on the button bar.

I have been ignored by many and that is reflected in the little brown turd in my name panel on the left of this post.  The color changes from light brown to red as more and more people choose to ignore you by selecting the ignore button.

I remember when someone used a XSS image and made everyone add smoothie to their ignore list.
