From what I've been gathering, BFL is a total scam, so I have been looking at KnC and ASIC Miner. However, there is a little bird going around claiming that there is another company called HashFast that is coming out with some good hardware. Hmmm..... Any thoughts?

HashFast seems to be legit. Not a CedarTech-style scam anyway. There's always risk, of course: BFL seemed to be completely legit as well.

Right now the mining space is just way too intense for me, honestly. Too many new players. I'm planning on staying out (aside from my involvement with the Klondike boards) until it cools down a bit.

HashFast draws legitimacy from association with Uniquify, who would be contract manufacturing the chips. The specs posted, what little of them, are intriguing, but proof is in the silicone.

After watching people wait years for stuff from BFL, I'd be skeptical of anything that I haven't seen with my own eyes. Like monomeric said, the proof is in the silicon.

Personally, my opinion is "fuck everything about pre-orders" and only purchase what is available within 7 days time.

Yeah, I am just going to be patient and see what materializes out of this.

BFL may not know how to give accurate estimates (definitely an understatement) but they are definitely producing bitcoin mining hardware.  I can't vouch for the quality of the ASIC hardware but their FPGAs are decent.

As for other ASIC miners/manufacturers, BitFury seems legit.  Don't know anything about HashFast though.
