What a late-night headache that was. Badly handled release of passworded wallet, which everyone had to download through torrents and unofficial filesharing links (web link was broken), only to find that the dev uploaded without password at launch-time. Mac QT doesn't even work yet. Pool ops had to work with forked chains, main pool crashed and hasn't been seen since, and other pools were accused of fraud.

It was pretty terrible. I lost out on a lot of coins because it was difficult finding a pool that worked. This coin was just supppeerrr hyped and then rushed out because of the legal issues and everything just kind of fell apart. Didn't seem like it was thought out to well.

At 7pm (the launch time) we were supposed to get our wallet keys and still had to wait another 10 minutes because they were giving them out to pool owners first. Should of just been told to everyone at one time and let it go from there.

Oh well, I am up and mining now and have a good bit of coins. Now I just need to cross my fingers and hope it makes it onto a decent exchange.

It won't get added to any exchanges, since the lawyers said they would take legal actions upon any exchange that used it...

It was fine. Much better than most and it went according to plan.

The reason for so many pools was to give people options when the pool they were mining on was ddosed. If you were smart you would have setup different batch files for a few different pools making switching quick and easy.

I got the client working almost immediately, it was fine everything worked. The difficulty was low at the beginning, but we like that, we like to see blocks fly by. Lots of orphans.. I did not find a single block soloing. I did expect that with all the hype. So I switched to a pool around and hour after launch when the difficulty hit 16. I have about 700,000 Coinye now with 10Mh. I think I'll keep mining this. I suspect the price will go up sharply as people want to get their hands on these coins.

If the exchange operators are smart they will add it and then tell the media they are ready for a fight.

this is why a FairLaunch would have ZERO blockrewards for the first couple blocks, and a gradual block reward increase....think Stablecoin launch. This allows for a proper chain to be developed and for pools to get setup.

Also devs are retarded for launching a coin with such a low diff, knowing that 10ghash was waiting to rape this bitch.

dump this turd and move on to the next scam.

the best part of the whole coinye coin fiasco is this:

- Technical Details:
Algorithm: Scrypt
Max Coins: 133,333,333,333
Block time: 90 Seconds
Difficulty Re-Target Time: 12 hours
Block Rewards: 666,666 COYE
Every 100k blocks, the payout halves

There have been several diff changes already....

That and if you look at the blockchain there were several people premining it before it launched actual launch.

There is also of course the 2 different website urls that were circulating, the ""fake"" password for the zipfile tweet that was quickly deleted, the 30 minute 'late' start ("we just need another ten minutes guys u know u love us."), the file not found on the link to the zipfile ON THEIR OWN website (on one of the websites, not the other, tho the urls were both different)

I sent them a bunch of tweets about all of these issues, well before the launch, with no replies (surprisen't)

This.

Had absolutely no issues since I registered to several different pools and had my batch files ready to go.  Wallet took about 10-15 minutes to connect and sync but not a big deal.  Overall pretty decent launch.

There are plenty of exchanges not based in the US that could get away with it

With 3Gh on the network after only 14 hours I think it will be on the Chinese exchanges in no time.

+1

I was expecting network hash rate to go over 1GH/s (due to media coverage) and wanted to mine some of these coins. I started mining on http://coye.minersbest.com less than an hour after release, few shares were submitted to the pool, but balance is still zero 12 hours later. Huh  What a waste of time...

I decided to switch to another coin.

Sure, no such thing as bad publicity...besides with the logo change, Kayne's legal argument becomes super-thin at best since it is now clearly a parody. The old logo, not so much. I'd be willing to bet that Comedy Central might even have better grounds for an infringement case at this point.

Overall dumb move by Kayne. Legal threats won't stop this, it'll only draw attention to it. God forbid someone from Kayne's team actually try and reach out to the developers to work out a mutually beneficial arrangement. Kayne could have at least endorsed it, and why not? He raps about money and bling (I'm guessing), so how much cooler could it be to have an actual payment system in his name, giving him all that free publicity?

The old logo was actually flattering to Kayne. Now he's stuck with the GayFish logo.
