I can give you few main red flags you should keep an eye on.
1)Board Members (must have part of any ICO, not only CEO and COO, full board of developers, advisers with LinkedIn links)
2)White Paper (read few WP of successful projects to feel the difference between quality and shitty projects)
3)A way to contact a team (if there's nothing to hide people are always open to conversation)
4)And finally, just do your own research, there is only one person who risks your founds, it's you.
And my personal advice, just invest in alts. That's a more stable way to get profits.

I was very skeptical in terms of ICOs, before I put money on it, I verify that at least I made some effort to ask, research , request opinion for crypto groups, and decides overall, after all the crypto community like this had a very wide or variety of advice regarding what you will be choosing to, but in the end it is your decision, so be responsible for your own action, This is what makes the crypto exciting either you could triple or double or you could lose it all, you choice. beside PINCOIN is a good pick Smiley

I can not say for sure if ICO is a scam or not, what I do if I want to follow ICO is I monitor the team from ICO and the project objectives that I see make sense or not, and there are some ICO scam because It gives a very big discount so it can lead to fraud and only experience that I know to monitor ICO's SCAM or not.

I suggest check on their whitepaper, take time to read about their platform as well as the team developer. If you find that what they offer is too good to be true well that's the time for you to have doubts about the project. Although usually scam ICO is difficult to recognize at fist just until they disappear on the forum and leave their participants unpaid. I think researching will be thate best way to do. Just as I said "take time to read" and analize what is written on their platform.

I have also entered the signature campaign before UAHPAY. They invest in beautiful amounts but they are lost afterwards.

There are many things to look out for. Mostly fail at simple things, So just use your common sense.
Red flags: no way of contacting the team, no explanation of the project, no deadline, people saying they were scammed already providing proof, weird name, spelling mistakes on official website etc. Everything that seems not right is a red flag. Do some reaserch before investing in anything.

Most of the scam ICO that are making their way into the market or trying get more investors have airdrops, im not against airdrops but most of them from what i see during the past years, airdrop + ICO = scam.

Look carefully into the project and try to find out everything from developers to its staffs if anything caught your eye that is fishy or something shady then back off.

Trust your intuition when choosing the right ICO for you to invest, dont trust anyone saying that its a good coin to invest with, its your money so at the end it will be your loss.

It'd be funny if there were scam ICOs where after raising a lot of money the founders decide to turn it into a real company and it actually becomes a successful one too.

It'd make a great Disney movie.
