I have been in this space for a few months now and would like to share my crypto picks for the coming year.

The theme for 2017 has been use case, scalability, and/or privacy

I think 2018 will be much of the same, with perhaps a bump for 2nd and 3rd Gen cryptocurrencies.

Nexus(NXS): Mkc: 300M -- Price: $5.44
 - Why? : - Next level encryption (SHA3),
               - No reward halving for miners (exponential decay curve),
               - Core LLP and LLP : protocol templates to create new protocols with less programming. (simpler smart contracts)
               - 3 ways to mine/mint - CPU/GPU/POS
               - Upcoming feature: Trust Network will allow for a sync-less wallet
               - many more features coming including eventual satellite launches to maintain the blockchain in space away from governments or
                  nefarious human beings.

Trezar Coin(TZC): Mkc: 13M -- Price: $0.14
 - Why? : - NeoScrypt PoW - BLAKE2 for hashing (MultiAlgo)
              - 0% Proof of Stake, instead of giving a fixed annual return your hashing power is determined by your coin weight
(max weight is total Coins x 15)
              - Orbitcoin Super Shield, retargets mining difficulty to protect from multi pool mining.
              - fast transactions
              - fast blockchain syncing

Intense Coin(ITNS) Mkc: 12M -- Price: $0.03
 - Why? : - attempting to produce a VPN network powered by the blockchain: "the Intense wallet will allow any network user to act as a VPN exit
node in exchange for ITNS" (more in WP) --> excellent use case
              - PoW/PoS - staking will be required to act as an exit node.
              - Anon transactions + VPN network in one coin
              - Devs are super responsive and of high caliber (currently switching to Monero Code base)

ByteBall(GBYTE) Mkc: 430M -- Price: $665
 - Why? : - DAG tech (iota, xrb anyone?), super fast transactions (one Tx cost me $0.00037) cheap
              - smart contract feature (ahead of Iota on this one) + KYC Compliant ICO's (no more scammy BS)
              - Blackbytes (as of right now the only anonymous DAG coin)
              - Working oracles (betting, flight insurance)
              - In wallet atomic swaps for 0.75% fee
              - Many more features and updates coming this year DYOR
              - IMO this is a Sleeping Giant Roll Eyes

This is it for now, I may Add some more later - Let me know your thoughts

Update Jan 24th 2018

Elastic(XEL) Mkc: 45M -- Price: $0.51
- Why? : - Cloud super computing demand is growing
             - XEL has underperformed due to small team and Anon team.
             - New website and Main Net due to launch in due time
             - Has own programing language (both a pro and a con)
             - Has many more exciting features

I maintain more than 30 coins in my portfolio...i have none of your picks.

I am familiar with NXS...good project but way too ambitious that I am afraid they are more likely to fail than succeed.  Will be a great coin if they pull it off though.  For now, I wait and jump in once they show results...let my money multiply in other coins.  Wink

Good luck!

Byteball is probably going to be one of the best ones of this year. Nexus is good, but not good enough to be a directly competitor to Byteball..
Anyway, i still believe in that Elix will be a very good coin during this year

I'm very exited about Intense coin (potential rebranding Q1) - White paper is what sold me https://intensecoin.com/whitepaper.pdf

I see Nexus as a fail safe in case SHA2 encryption becomes obsolete (just hedging my bets)

Byteball is definitely a better pick overall - Price is scaring people away though Sad

Been Hodling Elix for a couple months now  Grin

IntenseCoin sounds interesting... a blockchain powered VPN would be a unique concept.
