Explain to me how it will never earn back it's purchase cost? It is not only the most cost effective miner (GHs/USD), but also the most power efficient (GHs/Watt). If you think the Monarch is doomed, then just about every other ASIC out there will also be not-profitable. The entire network can't be run at a loss, so what's your solution?

The problem is the ship date. Too little. Too late. Too expensive. By the time Monarch ships, difficulty will be too high for it to ROI.

Compare it to something actually shipping.

BFL: 600 GH/s for $4680 in Feb.
Bitfury: 400 GH/s for $8000 in Oct.

You're crazy (pun intended) if you think the difficulty is going to grow less than 50% in 4 months!

You speak as if it's a real product. I highlighted the 2 most important portions of your response.

If BFL doesn't have its doors closed by legal authorites, and if they don't go bankrupt, and if they don't split up and run off with folks' money, and if the product does come to fruition, if it doesn't fall to the wayside regarding specs, promises and delivery like all of their other products (they can't even keep the hats or coffee mugs shipping), if they ever deliver the item while bitcoin can still be mined.. then maybe it'l hash some coins.

That's a lot of wagering right there, considering their production line has pretty much ceased for the past 12 days (minus a couple rigs), and they're telling customers to piss off when asking about it.

KNC will be on their own Gen2 products by the time all these "ifs" pass, which will likely be even better than the mythical Monarch.

I'm not sure if this is funny or sad... much as I hate to dispel the notions of trolls (ok, you caught me, I love dispelling their notions)... the paltry few clamoring for refunds appear to be in the vast vast vast minority.  I think it's even funnier that the majority of people wanting refunds are the ones that bought a single Jalapeno.  The big dogs that bought the mini's are content to wait... Makes you wonder what the big digs know tht the Jala refunders don't.  

Josh took PG and I out for lunch and I had noticed one of the assemblers had just started on a mini before we left.  When we got back, I needed to use the restroom and as I passed the assembly room, I noticed he had that one done and half of another one completed.  Considering how huge the mini-rig is, I was quite impressed at his speed.  I had figured a single person might have been able to do 1 or 2 a day.  This gentleman could probably do 6-8 if he had enough parts.  Made me think of the big dogs and their patience.

I've been poking the trolls commenting "yet still they ship product", and now I can truly say "ship product they do".

The big dogs who bought the rigs have no other CHOICE but to wait. Few idiots would buy their preorders at this point in the game, they'd be better off going with any other OEM. I know of at least 30 people who demanded refunds on 30 and 60gh units. Majority compared to total orders? No. But on the rise, definitely, along with reselling of the preorders at a loss to the original purchaser.

Yeah, they're getting rigs out. The better question, ignored by BFL, is where's the promised full production line execution? It's not in play. Jody appears out of excuses, or simply doesn't post them anymore, which is fine, it's not her fault. This week was one of several "promises to clear backlogs", but this one was the real deal according to Josh, thanks to their 7 day a week 2-3 shift a day multi-line production execution plan. I'm an understanding guy, but there is a point where a line is drawn. Keep in mind, I'm not a customer, I'm just someone who's looking into the situation out of a curiosity piqued by one of the most poorly executed business systems I've ever come across.

The issue is either parts supply, manpower or mismanagement. If it's parts or manpower, file it under mismanagement. That leaves.. mismanagement. Fancy that. And that's the best part! Some folks just want to know what the deal is with production, and what the holdup is. They don't even care it's behind, but BFL sweeps it under the carpet.

Maybe they're packing up a bunch of 18 wheelers as we speak, and will update the ship log all at once with 283,942 outstanding orders. I mean, right? It's a possibility.
