When people say that their online accounts are hacked, they often hack into their hacked email accounts, because of weak security. Access to your email account gives hackers access to other accounts.
If someone has access to your email, they can quickly search the list of sites you visit / use. Then they can visit the sites, one by one, and reset the password. When reset the password, the link will be sent to the email inbox. After this, they can change the email address in your online account on the site, and take over the account.
When hackers hack into one of your accounts, it's easier for hackers to hack into your other accounts. Some sites may ask you questions for account recovery, such as "Where were you born?" and "What is your mother's maiden name?" etc. Once a hacker knows about it, then he or she can hack into your other accounts.

I don't have an account in cryptopia since just looking at it looks like the site is not okay for first time users like me. Seems like I still need to navigate to somewhere before I reach my destination  Grin Anyway, there are plenty of news about hacked exchanges lately so I guess we should really be aware how to secure our investments. That is why it is advisable to move our investments from exchanges to wallet as exchanges are prone to hacking. It is really important to activate 2FA security so our account couldn't be easily hacked.

I have not heard this news but I think cryptopia is vulnerable to hacking attacks, I would not hold coins in cryptopia. If this exchange will be target I don't think it can compete against hackers.
It has been a long time , I haven't used cryptopia. Actually the service is good . If the security is vulnarebl, more users will leave cryptopia. Hope there will be more decentralized exchanger like bancor network.

Crytopia is one of the old exchange in the space that have not actually scale up the way I thought they would, they become important when they staarted listing some of these low cap ICOs and famous for pump and dump group pumping low cap coins, not surprise that they are a target for hackers, just don't leave your fund on exchanges

In fact almost any exchange can be attacked by hackers. This is now the most lucrative market for their field of activity. How lucky...

Cryptopia is based in New Zealand and offers a lot more than just a crypto-exchange. While the trading conditions will be the main focus of this review, their website also features a fully functional online shop, where cryptocutrencies are the means of exchange. This may not exactly be the next Silk Road, but a lot of interesting items are up for sale.
