Advertisement: If you see garbage posts (off-topic, trolling, spam, no point, etc.), use the "report to moderator" links. All reports are investigated, though you will rarely be contacted about your reports.

Not receiving feedback on why one's accuracy rating drops is a huge disincentive for using the "report to moderator" feature.

On the flip side, having to argue with someone every time I decide a report shouldn't be acted on is a huge disincentive for me to check reports.

How about just not displaying it at all then?

Why show a user a metric while at the same time giving them absolutely no information about how to improve it, even as much as which report was problematic?

For the past two weeks. This is global, for the entire forum:
10 active
~190 bad reports
~800 handled
These are estimates based on an average of 15 per page, so it isn't entirely accurate, but close.

There are more reports I've ignored that I don't see, mostly for the foreign language section. I don't have the time to go into detail on individual reports, it's just not really feasible.

Edit:
even as much as which report was problematic?
This I can do, I'll pm it to you.

Oh I see...
Why not displaying all our previous reports with the corresponding status (ok, bad, pending)? This way, even without an explanation from mods, we can see which one was bad and can wonder why as we have both our report and the post it is related to

Hmm, I dunno. For most it would be fine, but I get the feeling there would be a lot of attention seekers who would harass mods with a lot of WHY WAS X REPORT MARKED BAD I DEMAND ANSWERS! Mods already get enough grief.

It's actually easy to know if your last report was considered as good or bad (and your current ratio).
Just report any other random post next day (or 10 minutes after, depending on mods reactivity  Wink), and you'll see your stats.
Then just cancel.

I'd say the majority of the reports I receive are bad reports. That being said, I'm aware I'm a lot more lenient than others, so if the reports aren't outrageous but not something I choose to moderate, I'll hit the ignore button, so it doesn't show negatively on people's scores.
