Been running my Jalapeno for a few weeks now on my Win7 PC with no issues (other than a rather high reject rate...) and decided to order a Raspberry Pi so that I can move it all to the garage. Installed everything according to https://forums.butterflylabs.com/bitcoin-discussion/3238-super-tutorial-raspberry-pi-raspbian-cgminer-tightvnc-wifi-boot.html and I am able to almost get everything working. Unfortunately, I feel like I have wasted a day since my miner is down for 9 hours now and there are no signs that I will be mining again soon.

The issue is that CGMiner does not detect the Jalapeno. The lsusb command shows that a device is detected which I think is the Jalapeno (I would paste the output here but copy/paste doesn't work with TightVNC, which is driving me #$@$%@#$%@ crazy). Also dmesg says that "ttyUSB0: FTDI USB Serial Device converter now disconnected from ttyUSB0" and sometimes "eth0: hardware isn't capabale of remote wakeup".

I feel like I have tried everything, but haven't found the solution yet. If anyone can help, I'd really appreciate it.

TIA,
Jeff

No, I was hoping to stick with CGMiner since it was working fine on my PC. I also use it for Litecoin mining. I think I have some sort of configuration issue somewhere.

Just use minepeon. Takes about 10 mins to set up.

Not sure if switching mining software is going to fix my issue. Anyone here with similar hw/sw that can offer some advice?

FWIW, I've had better stability using BFGMiner on a Raspi vs CGMiner :| Running Raspbian.

+1 on this... From what I know Minepeon is the least hassle and most reliable for Rpi.

Be sure to do an rpi-update to get the latest firmware.  Lots of USB fixes in there.

Don't use a USB 3.0 hub to connect anything to the rpi.  Try the jally direct.

Use kano's pre-built cgminer binaries for the rpi:

Been thinking about replacing my ibm x41 laptop with a pi for when I move this mess out to the solar shed. Quick question:

Can the Pi draw it's power from a powered hub?
If not, can one use a non-powered hub to drive about half a dozen devices?  These would be jallies and a chili; I'll get rid of my stupid crock-erupters.

Yes, I run mine off the "High Power" ports on my DLink D7 hub.

I used the binaries you suggested and now it's up and running again Smiley

Thank you!!!
