If you back up your keys on your smart phone where do you view these keys?  Also if my phone were to crash how would I get my BTC back?  Sorry for such the noob question but thanks in advanced.  Also there is no password protect on your phone to access your wallet or nothing to use as security verification?  What is the best wallet?

What wallet are you using? And you should always have several backups of your wallet.dat file.

You would need to actually attach the wallet.dat file to the email you are sending yourself

A phone is a very useful place to have a wallet, but it is also risky because phones are often lost, stolen, or broken. For these reasons, you must back up your wallet to another device or location, and you must encrypt the wallet or at least lock the phone. You are risking the loss of your bitcoins if you do not do these two things. I also recommend holding a only small amount on your phone, perhaps no more than you might spend in a day.

I feel the best choice of wallet for a new user is blockchain.info because you can access your wallet from anywhere and there is an app for your phone. The blockchain.info wallet is encrypted and requires a password or PIN. It also allows you to back up your wallet by emailing it to yourself.

You give up after less than 15 minutes? Are you aware that this is not a 24/7 support hotline?

Yeah, well, I'm gonna go build my own blockchain. With blackjack and hookers! In fact forget the blockchain.

If you have an android phone why not use CoinBase?

If you want to access a cloud wallet on any phone with a browser you could consider using blockchain.info.

Running an actual node (i.e. a full version of the bitcoin client) on your phone isn't really feasible at the moment.

OP - what are your requirements for a mobile wallet?  Paper wallets and access to a cloud wallet can probably suffice.

I recommend it. You can synch it up to your actual online blockchain.info wallet. Make sure to set up all the security features like a second password and two facto auth and you should be pretty safe. You can also set it to automatically email you wallet backups after each transaction.

Make encrypted paper wallets on bitaddress.org.  Fund those wallets.  Store one copy of the wallets, but laminate one copy too, and put it in your actual wallet.

Now get Mycelium for your android phone.  When you want to spend, scan the paper wallet, spend, and then delete the key from flash memory.

Pretty secure, not too inconvenient.
