Github was a platform to share code where many software including the code for Linux and Unix were uploaded, now that it is on GitHub , Microsoft owns rights to use it and essentially they can put a price tag on the free software, so for the freelance software development this might be bad news

Github is a code sharing platform , it has nothing to do with blockchain or cryptocurrency, yes it may have code for a blockchain network but the data remains in possession of the user so it will not affect anything or the value of the cryptocurrency market at all, there's nothing to worry about.

so many people dislike Microsoft for its policy and business model
I would expect many developers leave github for another similar platform
and they should do it now, save and move their project files elsewhere
a paid software business overtakes an open source code sharing platform... doesn't sound promising Undecided

Ugh. Those news are extremely concerning (my opinion may be biased as I am not the biggest Microsoft fan). Sure, as the OP said, they might want to take crypto mainstream, but probably not as we know it (more likely in a centralized and regulated manner). Fortunately there is always the option for projects to migrate to another hosting platform.

Microsoft VP will become CEO of Github.  Is this a attack against open source or Microsoft embracing it and wanting to bring it into the mainstream?

Personally I think microsoft coders use it so much, like constantly, and Bill Gates doesn't want to feel like he is playing second fiddle.  Also they want Github to be able to be used for non open source projects in addition to open source projects, and they don't want another entity controlling their secret data.  So they decide to buy it so they will control the data.

This is really a game changer and there is no need to speculate whether the deal will go through or not, it surely a done deal because before they would jointly address a press conference and talk about how their goals, objective and dreams "aligned", it would have gotten to a point of no return which is what we are facing and a confirmation that everyone has a price no matter how ideal or great your philosophy about life is and further solidify why its just the best for Satoshi to have stay out of sight for this invention we are all enjoying.

$7.5 billion is a whole lot of money that could turn an entire generation around. Its effect in crypto would surely be massive as I see the acquisition of various platforms that aid crypto currency as a tactical attack to take away to platform then leave it hanging which would then die naturally. Hopefully, this won't work.

I think Mircosoft is looking to deepen its research into Blockchain technology. They want to grow and Blockchain will be a great tool to do that...

If you think Microsoft produces a lot of developing tools and platform, which now supports also non traditional Microsoft programming languages. I don't think as well it may necessarily be a bad thing.

It depends on the parent company's intention do they want to take a good platform to make it great or remove the competition.Microsoft being the being company it is will only think big and help the platform to grow and add to it's value.

Microsoft constantly buys promising companies. I'm sure that Microsoft has long been developing its own cryptocurrency and solutions in the field of crypto. And the purchase of Github is both an investment decision and a strategic one.

At first glance it does not seem like a good news. Microsoft already has a unhealthy control over the market share and all the data collected.
