There is a merit abusing ring and we are talking about 50+ connected accounts. a few were auto-banned and red tagged but many are still scotfree. I don't know where it was because of the different DT format back then but please DT members, do something. I would like you to break this ring once and for all.
The ring of farmed accounts used to be involved in a number of thread bumping services too and have been reported so many times but not much has been done.

I don't have enough time to look into the whole thing so I just listed a few of the accounts I saw but believe me, the accounts are so many.

I just did a search and noticed that very many reports have been made about this group but little has been done. Please DT members, This is the time to show some power entrusted to you and I also think mods should just ban some of these accounts if possible ( they are already alts of banned profiles)

Here are previous reports:
- merit hole: 30 accounts more than 500 merits
- Need DT members to review

Thanks to God for Vod. You can't see some of these merit transaction histories without BPIP

According to the different threads I saw, it seems they were either used for some sort of thread bumping service or just a way of account farming;
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2767700.msg28421605#msg28421605

LoyceV also pointed out some of these accounts at one time. Am going to quote the list to make it easy to view and follow.

Merit abuse is not something that theymos wants to be dealt with using the trust system, and so you will struggle to find any DT members who are going to be willing to tag these accounts:
If a DT member tags you for something stupid involving merit (ie. probably anything less than selling merit), then they're not going to be a DT member for much longer.

Your best bet is going to be reporting the accounts for breaking the rules - thread bumping, spamming, plagiarism, etc.

If I remember correctly this comment was referring to the merit sources and if they get tagged by DTs for giving away merit, I not really sure that this applies to all the users.

Report the plagiarism, don't worry too much about the Merit abuse. It's a small amount in the total Merit system, theymos doesn't want users to be tagged for that, and eventually they'll run out of sMerit.

This applies to all users:
Merit sales, transfers to aliases, back-and-forth trading, etc. are not much of an issue. All illegitimate merit will decay, and will account for a tiny and very expensive fraction of the total merit economy. It's basically a rounding error; fight it where convenient, but waste no sleep over it.

It does not apply to users in general, just sources. Otherwise he'd have to remove several DT1/2 members already (i.e. basically revert to the old centralized way of doing things for no valid reason).

Am not saying they get tagged for merit abuse, The merit abuse helps reveal the account farming ring.
AFAIK, I have seen very many accounts getting tagged for being an alt of a banned profile, why doesn't it apply in this case since most of the alts have already been auto-banned for various reasons.

Worse still, I have seen a couple of legendary and hero member accounts connected to the ring but they are still loitering in the forum scot-free.

Report the plagiarism, don't worry too much about the Merit abuse. It's a small amount in the total Merit system, theymos doesn't want users to be tagged for that, and eventually they'll run out of sMerit.
My major concern is how we know that certain accounts are connected or alts of already banned profiles with enough evidence through history merit abuse and simultaneous thread bumping and yet they are still active here participating in bounties without a single negative trust and yet we have already witnessed other accounts getting negative trust or banned for ban evasion.

Help me understand. what is the difference between the 2 scenarios?

To prove they're alts you need more evidence than just the fact of sending merits or bumping threads. TBH I haven't looked at all the details yet, so perhaps you do have more - if that's the case then report to mods.

Keep in mind that 5000 accounts are banned every month so don't worry too much about 50 that may slip through. If you want to spend time looking for more evidence (e.g. plagiarism) on them that's fine, or you can spend that time on busting a more obvious farm...
