Yeah, its not going to pay your bills, but it does allow for some extra spending BTC to buy some cool thing that someone is selling, be it alpaca socks, or whatever else you find here.

Moderating here is definately not a bad task. You get caught up in nonsense from time to time, for trying to moderate a userbase that doesn't want to be moderated, but overall no complaints.

Awesome! What's the best way I can help?
Report posts! If you can provide a recommended course of action in the report, all the better. Don't worry about being accurate all of the time, since only staff members have access to the more specific policies (this is to prevent internet-lawyering where people purposefully find loopholes in our policies). We know that you'll get better once you have access to that. Generally, the policies boil down to removing spam, removing off-topic posts, and moving thread to the correct board for their topic. Most notably, on-topic trolling is usually okay here, so don't report instances of that.

If you find yourself receiving a bunch of reports flagged as bad, feel free to make a post on this board or contact a global moderator and we can let you know how to improve.

Really, the only downside to being a moderator is dealing with the report queue. That's the only thing that actually feels like "work" (which I'm happy to deal with since we are paid). Finding things to moderate in the wild from threads that you're already reading is much more enjoyable. In fact, I originally became a global mod because I was reading most of the boards already and reporting issues I found. Theymos thought it would make more sense to cut out the middleman and give me the power to moderate everywhere directly.

Convince us that it's better to cut out the middleman for you and you'll be made a moderator.

The only thing im scared of is my accuracy going down. I guess it will improve over time.

Is reporting necessary for posts in the wrong section? If it is, should I provide the correct subforum in the textbox

Don't be. A bit after the system was put in last year, theymos revealed in the donator board that an accuracy of roughly 60% was above average and that anyone reporting more than just the extremely obvious stuff would likely have an accuracy below 90%. People who have been local moderators for a board for some time (so they still have to report things outside of their jurisdiction) have an accuracy >95%, but <98%. Obviously, it's a private board, so I can't tell you the exact figures, but that's roughly what the figures were.

The raw number of good reports is much more important than the accuracy, as long as the accuracy is reasonably high.

Is reporting necessary for posts in the wrong section?
Yes, we would greatly appreciate it.

If it is, should I provide the correct subforum in the textbox
Yes! You don't have to, but it really makes it easier for us since we only have to look at the post to verify that you were correct instead of figuring it out by reading it more closely. It saves several seconds per report. Not only that, but it shows your sense of judgement for where things belong. A person who states where a thread should go and is usually right about that is much more likely to be made a mod than someone who always just puts in "wrong forum".

They earn and deserve every cent of it, just look at some of the spamming spree ones and you would be completely agreeing with that.
I imagine it's fun too to be one of the people making the shots  Cool
