Hi,

Yeah, I really am that stupid. I mined 15k worth of bitcoin back in 2012/13 and then lost the usb pen with the user credentials Sad Anyway, im gonna start from scratch in my free time. I was just wondering, what tips people have that are doing well from it at the moment. I havent attempted it for 6 years so im sure its a very different landscape. Any help/advice would be appreciated. Thanks in advance! Smiley

There's a similar story like that https://www.cnbc.com/2017/12/20/man-lost-127-million-worth-of-bitcoins-and-city-wont-let-him-look.html
this one is bigger  7,500 bitcoins imagine the price of that Bitcoin when it hit at least $50k, well we really can't do anything but if it happens to me  I will have a hard time to recover because all my life I'm an average income earner.
Right now your only option is to start from scratch and buy, you cannot mine it alone and bounty now is all messed up.

I cannot understand why some people have lost their BTC. You and those people are rare cases, always stay safe with your private key and make sure your money is always safe. In the current market, I think IEO programs on secure trading platforms or participating in margin trading programs can help you make money every day!

At least now you have experience. You should learn from your mistakes and always keep your keys in multiple safe ways. You can always lose one or another.

By now you have educated yourself on the right way of storing your Bitcoin you have to move on now, but mining is very much different now from what you know, you can mine different coins that have potential in the future, like IDENA this is a proof of person algos http:// https://bitcointalk.org/index.phptopic=5194871.0

That's really sad to hear. But you can still go back on the track and invest only those token/coins that you think can give you a lot of profit in the future. There is a lot of altcoins that has big potential to increase its value and could caught with Bitcoin's value.

And also mining is not good for now, i think since it is not profitable and ROI could take a while.

That's why I always write seed of my wallet on more then one paper and store it at different locations including one in my bank locker. The only tip I would like to give to op before he commerce his mining is first make sure your coins are well secured and you can always recover them else it will be wastage once again.

That's unfortunate situation, it reminds me of Big Bang Theory episode about bitcoin. Search that. They lost it without knowing it was in the flash drive. See how much investment they have without holding or seeing it by that time. Well that's how life goes and we simply need to move on,try trading than mining now. Mining is almost non profitable now.

I'm so sorry Sad If it helps at all I know exactly how you feel. I once lost 0.13 btc copy-pasting a wallet.dat file but I cut and paste it and not copy and something happened and I lost it. Now I make a back up more then once so if I mess up its ok. I have also lost btc a few other ways. I am glad you not giving up good on you. Just remember to keep plenty of backups in the future. This is really the only advice you need. You can never have enough backups.

Really sad. That may be the reason why some people will scam other people because they lost bitcoin that he/she mined and then wanted to start again but it would take time again plus mining is not much of a great choice to made at this time that's why posting a thread and advertise a scam site. That's a lesson learned about that people should keep their crypto info safe and sound.

Seeing this thread again reminds me of a story here in Wales.

There's a story of a Welsh dude near me that lost thousands of Bitcoin after throwing out a old hard drive. Rumors are that he spent days searching the local landfill for the hard drive, but was unsuccessful. It would be worth around $55,040,000 these days, but was worth a considerable amount more only a few months back. However, it was definitely a mistake due to him throwing the hard drive away when they were worth $975,000. I'm not sure whether this has ever been verified to be true, as it would be difficult to do so. However, he did get a considerable amount of media attention because of it.

The OP of the thread obviously was a scammer but.... that story about the Bitcoin was true.

It was a man called James Howells from Newport. He even tried searching the landfill site but it is near impossible task to find the hard drive.

He claims he had 7500 Bitcoin which in 2013 were valued at $130 each. These links will give more clarity:

if you miner in 2012/2013 i an assume you are programer, right?
why not start learning bitcoin or blockchain algorithm, maybe you can start by implementation your idea in blockchain world.

now everyone can be enterpreneur with blockchain.

Not stupid, maybe careless.
Your mistake was just one copy, one point of failure. I mean this usb pendrive could easily just fail in terms of hardware. What then? Still lost.
Learn about storage/storage security because its very important in BTC world.

That's a very unfortunate one, 1.4 bitcoin is a huge money if we would convert it into fiat right now. Well, those things would happen no matter what and the best thing we could do about it is to keep on going and regain what we've lost. Next time, you should be more careful about your investment and make sure you always have the things you need to reopen your account and claim your money. That's one of the most important thing you need to have here in crypto, being extra careful with your password or any device that grants you the access to your account.

You can save yourself from great troubles if you spend few minutes in carefully writing down the backing material of your wallet. The irony of bitcoin is that you cant access your coins if you lost password and dont have seed. Bitcoin is extremely secure but its weakest link is wallet.

ATTENTION

OP is most likely A SCAMMER
I almost believed his story until he said this:
Ive managed to turn £300 into £840 so far just through a bit of trading and also won a few hundred at a bitcoin casino I found on https://www.best-casino-sites.net/

Lately there have been newbie accounts pretending to be asking for help, but then they start to indirectly advertise their shady websites.
As is the case for OP, he is trying to advertise his brand new(probably scam) gambling website by claiming that he won some BTC from it.

Domain information

Op don't you have anything to say to this accusation? You should clarify yourself of this scam. That's to say you just formulated this jargon story just to get attention.
