Bisq(https://bisq.com/): if you want to sacrifice convenience for better privacy
LocalBitcoins(https://localbitcoins.com/): slightly less convenient compared to Coinbase but you can pretty much use it anywhere like Bisq. KYC is required just like with Coinbase

Depends on where you from as previously asked. If you are from a country where coinbase proceeds their business, you can easily buy. On the other hand, if you are looking for buying crypto with paypal, adcash etc, I recommend using Bestchange, make sure to check the feedback of their recommended sites.

Is there not a good and legitimate exchange in USA that one can buy bitcoin with their debit or credit card without passing through rigorous KYC. I am asking for someone and not me. Thanks

There are no exchanges yet that don't ask for KYC or without KYC they are all gone and now turn to ask a KYC unlike before.
I heard someone that this one "Localcryptos" doesn't have KYC but I don't how safe it is. And another option to buy in the US with debit/credit card without KYC is to buy directly on Bitcoin ATMs which is already mentioned above.
