We have the full experience of S17/T17 series failures as outlined in https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5217949.0 and https://cointelegraph.com/news/samson-mow-bitmain-s17-t17-antminer-has-high-failure-rate

Our experience is about a 15% failure rate. Some of the warenteed units suffer from the same problems and have since failed.   For those of you that would like to know about bitmain warentee procedure, please let me know. We are experts now. ill share my knowledge.

It is time to choose the devil you don't know... As for alternative units, there is much less information, so I guess I will ask the question:

1) What is your experience with the Whatsminer M3x units?
2) What is your experience with the Whatsminer warentee process, and can you briefly describe the process?  From their website, it looks like u need permission via tech support before any warentee work.  no details as to entire units need to be sent back, or if they accept individual parts... and who pays for them.

Cheers.

M20/21 is probably more equivalent to bitmains 17 range.

M30/M31 is equivalent to bitmains newer 19 range, as both have only been out recently.

Just in case you were looking to compare like for like.

If you are in USA. you can send to hmtech in North Carolina. They are legit and have a contract with MicroBT.com. that is the actual builder.

I have contact info for hmtech

They have sold me 2 replacement p21 pSU's to be used with my m20s units.

Once. all the USA confusion settles with Covid-19, the protests and the riots over the Killing in minnesota.

My partner and I may purchase 2ph worth of m30s or even m20s

I have been using their whatsminer tool 5.0.2. it is excellent for remote controlling miners.

I have owned

1   m3
10 m10
1   m21
2.  m20s

other then 2 things

1) the people in Carolina have been good to me and  I am in NJ fast cheap shipping

2) plus I like the whatsminer 5.0.2 tool

Bitmain has been more reliable from jan of 2019 to June of 2020

I have

22 s17 pro
1.  s15
3   s17
1   t15
4.  s9k
2   t17e
2.  t17+
1.  s17+

they all work the worst are the s9k
also 1 s17pro is flakey

btw the guys in Carolina will fix the bitmain gear for me. have yet to fix them as they are hanging in there

I have to decide to buy gear this year to replace the s9's and the l3+ that I run

I may go with what miners.

Thanks for the post guys.

This is what I got from microbt.com support and also from their telegram support (linked directly from microbt.com):

1) Warentee is 365 Days for the M30/M31 series, not 180 (conflicting information from microbt website)
2) They pay for shipping both ways for repair
3) If you diagnose the problem with a part, the first repair attempt they will send you the part.  If that does not work, u must send your unit back to repair centre, a repair center is available in the USA.
4) somewhat broken english: they will send you a machine (refurbished or new) when you send yours back?

It sounds too good to be true?

That would be the best warranty support around. I would believe it as long as you keep all the chat logs and emails to prove it. Mostly because as you said there is conflicting information out there.
I'm guessing the US repair is hmtech. Great guys to work with.
Them paying shipping both ways is huge, not to mention letting you attempt a repair first time around. Might consider buying something now lol.

Yeah hmtech told me they have a repair contract with whatsminer.

They got 2 m20s psu's out to me asap.

They are in North Carolina. I am in New Jersey.

I get very fast turnaround with them.

Most Likley I will Be getting some more whatsminers but I may wait till fall.

Comparing the 17 series from bitmain to any other mining gear will always lead to the same results, those 17 series are the worst mining gears anybody has ever made, so without a doubt, the M20 and M21s are far more robust than S17/T17, but since we don't have enough data on S19/T19 we can't be certain about their quality, my bet is "they are much better than the 17 series", but are they better than the m30+/m30++/m30s from microbt?  nobody can tell, it is a bit too early to judge.

But overall comparing Microbt gears to Bitmain in terms of quality, I would say MicroBt, honestly, Bitmain failed big time in the 17 series, S9k , S9e and many other non-btc mining gears, the S9 was the last mining gear from Bitmain with tremendous robustness, I hope they have gone back to the same standards on these 19 series, although I wouldn't trust them until months have passed.
